I missed out on Netflix Soundwave and Siege Shockwave so pre-ordered this set months ago. Although I’m intrigued to see what they do with SS86 Megatrons alt’ mode. I was under the impression that SS86 Soundwave was going to be a repaint/retool of Netflix Soundwave anyway, I didn’t realise he was a brand new mould confirmed?
They were talking about this since last year. So with the Netflix Soundwave mold, apparently Walmart had a very exclusive contract with some rights to even the design. When they made SG Soundwave the idea was to use the original netflix mold and add the headband SG Soundwave sports, but to get to use it they had to remold the head, and use the Siege version of the cassettes as well to make the SG versions. So the designers stated they wanted to make an all new Soundwave mold to match Blaster's size. So the rumor is they will release this version of Soundwave in the comic purple colors, and then we will get the traditional G1 cartoon colors in the SS'86 line.
So I ordered this set on ebay. The seller wants 104. For it which is the cheapest I've seen it brand new. I hope they fixed the issue with the yellowing plastic.
i am interested in it but i am going to wait to the SS86 releases to make a decision. I do like that Shockwave better than the original. Hopefully the Soundwave and Megs dont have the yellowing issue its predecessors have. thanks for the info.
Already preordered and it's an easy enough way to obtain all three updated figs for someone who only has the Earthrise Megatron in G2 colors, and the Legacy release of Soundwave with no Laserbeak. Chair is give or take but still a fun worthwhile inclusion. Definitely would prefer Shockwave to be a purple, but given it only really shows in upside down gun mode it's no deal breaker. Definitely excited for what they have planned for 86 Megatron though.

I know for some they want to get complete versions and going for this imo would be a much better option than going for the individual releases due to the yellowing alone. Unfortunately I just don't need another version of the Earthrise mold nor the Netflix Soundwave mold. However I will not knock anyone for buying this. That's why I called it "Decision Time". Let the collector make the right choice for them.
Im grabbing this set mostly because i wasn't in a position to get the original molds. If anything im in no rush to get the eventual ss86 Megatron, and the soundwave is already a most buy for me so win win I guess.
Good set but I will be waiting as well. Why are they doing these off the chain repaints. Was this planned all along? Still getting the autobot 5 pack tho. Lol

The rumors started right around 2023 that Hasbro designers wanted to make a new Soundwave because Walmart had very exclusive rights to that Netflix Soundwave mold. Now it has been rumored I guess I can say stated we are getting the SS'86 Soundwave from the new Comic version which will be in purple first. And of course the true announcement of SS'86 Megatron has been confirmed for over a month now.
I pre-ordered the set because I do not have the Netflix Soundwave or Shockwave. I have Galactic Man, but he doesn't count. I was debating selling off the Megs in this set, but I am really liking the look of the tank mode. Decisions, decisions.
Exactly. This set has its purpose for many people. One of them is definitely not being able to get Netflix Soundwave, and hopefully this one doesn't yellow.

do you think the new bridge set would also have the yellowing for Megs and Soundwave? or has there been any reports of yellowing from this bridge set?
Haven't heard that as of yet, plus the plastic used are different than the ones used to make the originals a few years ago.

The idea is that it’s the characters who are in the Nemesis Bridge. The chair is there to set the scene.
I got all of three some time ago, so I sold them and got the Nemesis Bridge pack almost free.

Issa a lot to explain, but Hasbro controls aspects of what Takara does. These were planned, but imo, just a little too late.
i have this on preorder and.. i don't know.. I might cancel.. Looks like Soundwave is using the same plastic that's going to yellow.
Actually his plastic is that eggshell white which probably won't yellow. It's the gray on the Netflix version that tired yellow

As far as the rumored Studio Series '86 releases next year, I will make a judgement call then.

All the 3 figures look great, but comics shockwave, SS86 Megs, and the rumoured SS86 soundwave are probably worth the risk of waiting.
For some it can be, others see this set as an opportunity to pick up what they could not get.
If it's in deep clearance sale maybe. 75% off or something.
