I also did and it took me a while to figure out they took pictures of 2 figures each. I pondered if they took a picture of bot mode then alt mode and spliced them together LOL
This was my ORIGINAL desire when I got back into collecting. I'll finish the original paper. Just season one. Then, maybe the second paper. Season two. It just snowballed from there. Now I'm doing powermasters and Japanese continuity characters 😅.
Perfect video! Been looking for this type of step by step breakdown on MP figures. I need to dump my XTB beachcomber and pick up a FT I look forward to the 85 , 86 and 87 catalogs MP lists!
For someone on a budget the Takara KO's are a good choice for most of the 1984 figures. For Jazz Tr-01 Agent meister and from Transform element TE-01 Optimus prime and TE-03 mirage. For the seekers the Eagle EG-01x versions. Sadly, the mini bots is where it can get expensive.
The negative for TE-01 is that it’s not fully painted like MP-44 & MS EX version. It’s still a great figure & I don’t think transformation is that difficult. There’s a lot of steps tho.
Totally misread the title as collecting original 1984 Transformers as I just bought a brand new Megatron, which wasn't cheap. As for a Masterpiece Megatron, MP-36 is still the best but, if Magic Square does eventually upscale their Megatron, it'll be the best as their take on him is pretty freaking awesome.
Got news for you Mike the windcharger toon is not available anywhere!!! Great video to make now as we may see the last of masterpiece. That means either everyone gonna drop mp scale or third party will get to a new final chapter where will just fill the rest of the gaps themselves untill Chinese shops got some stock of latest models and that's it.. According to leaks ginrai will not be in proper size to mp. And last time with Raiden leaks where correct even for the height of Raiden before we even get the second bot of it. Amazon JP box size indicate will be the size of trailbreaker not prime. But y of course all of these are unconfirmed
When I started my collection back in 2019, I never intended on getting all of the seekers. However, when DS came out with their Starscream, I immediately jumped onto the pre-orders for TC and SW as soon as they became available. Im still waiting on someone to do as good of a job as DS did with these for the coneheads. Again I don't intend to get them, but if they are as well made and present as well as DS's then I just might jump on them as well.
Seems odd that DS did not make the coneheads yet but the fact that Takara did not was a telltale sign Something was changing at Takara and now with the MP change it may make more sense
I’ve broken the official and ko bumblebee so I am primed(pun intended) for a fanstoys version as I really loved their cliffjumper. And I agree the moment I get either version of the ironhide it’s goodbye takara.
If Takara made it then that's what I've got. I do have MMC for Soundwave's tapes and even bought the Laserbeak and Buzzsaw set despite the size being a bit large. The rest of the Decepticons are all Takara. I got TE for Mirage and MakeToys for Jazz. Brawn Huffer and Gears are all BadCube and I like my dirt cheap BadCubes. I bought them all used and cheap after the FansToys came out. XTB for Windcharger and Cliffjumper and I still have MP-21 Bee being he scales better next to XTB Cliffjumper. No FansToys. I'm cheap and I'm content with what I've got. I also have KFC for Reflector. Price matters. Fine with $150 to my door. Wasn't feeling $500 for a used Spotter.
That gun for the DX9 Prowl looks awful for a MP type figure, it looks more waffled up than a Hasbro mainline figure's gun. As for them KOs...ohhh, I was all in for that once I started gettin' them. Worst luck I've had was Prowl (incorrectly assembled door eventually snapped off) and Starscream (tolerances were abysmal, quite a few parts are stressed badly or cracked; a panel that fills out his left side in robot mode looks like it could break if you look at it funny). Yeah, it's weird, Hoist, Inferno, Grapple, & Smokescreen were season 2 peeps (1985). That being said, definitely lookin' forward to your takes on the 1985 & 86 brochures!! (Too bad options for 87 and beyond are sorely limited...)
Got a feeling that this post isn't going to be the most optimistic in the world, but to me it doesn't matter what you put in your collection as long as you're happy with what you have. This is just me, but I'm starting to feel that men today are getting more and more feminine and quicker to judge or negate about someone else's life. Down to what a person collects and enjoys. I'm in the camp that everything SHOULD NOT be as cartoon accurate as it possibly be. It would be cool if they gave you the option to go that way if you wanted to, but I also firmly believe that the cartoon was what nailed the G1 line. What makes me believe that the FT Soundwave is the best Soundwave out there right now is it's built where you can convert it to look like the cartoon model or something that looks more like the toy. The only thing I can think of that they could have done to improve it further is making the glass in his chest removable where you could put a piece in that looks more like the toy. Which I think has a better look to it. MP collecting should be a mixture of toon & toy/comic options. When you've only got a choice of 1 option, & that is it... that's when you nail a franchise. I personally don't need a new Sideswipe or Nissan brothers. I'm happy with what I have. I don't need to go out and keep buying stuff if I'm happy with what I got. If it isn't up to par, I either fix up or mod it. I'm surprised at how many people either don't know how or too scared to. Some cases a new release is better than an new 1, but sometimes newer isn't better. I still think the older version of Bumblebee is better than the 2nd 1. I honestly think that they were going to reuse that mold to make a Gold Bug. Once you tweak it,new head, new limbs, it becomes a much better figure. I honestly think that is where they got the Netflix Bumblebee from. Which would make a nice MP Bumblebee if upscaled in my opinion. But that's my opinion...
Trying to leave posts, but it's been tough when mom is chatting in my ear... I was just thinking about the cargo barge that rammed into the Baltimore bridge. There's talk that there's footage now of inside 1 the bridge of a Ukrainian national PURPOSELY steering the ship into the middle pillar of the bridge 2 minutes prior impact, & someone setting flash grenades so no one could stop the ship. If true, why would Ukraine attack us like that? I know that there was military grade weapons on there... unless that's the reason. I was just thinking with all the craziness in the world, there's more important things happening in the world than what someone's collecting. Just enjoy what you have.
I've got all TT releases. Not a fan of MPG so I will be completing my S1 and S2 with third party. Iwill be replacing Ironhide and Ratchet with the Fans Toys.
I have the KO of RP-01 and i will say its good not great and to fix alot of things on it like loose waist bad wrists and lazer beak didn't fit on the pegs that soundwave has to mount him. Also the KO RP-01 has really soft knee ratchets which i hate but for like 60$ when i got it its great
@@tydiriumhanger1320 they aren't the best for sure but honestly I'm fine with it cuz I already preorder sound laster and ratbat so at least I'll have a leger FT one lol just a recolor
You always seem to forget about the infinte destrctuon megatron Cartoon accurate colour And the back pack fills up the gaps But i think the magic square is the worst of the bunch Te is leaps ahead for me its totally cartoon accurate apart from the windows on the chest. Too large The ms legs are way off way too thick and stumpy looking plus that horrible back pack that sticks out on the sides
i'd look at these insert catalogs for hours
I also did and it took me a while to figure out they took pictures of 2 figures each. I pondered if they took a picture of bot mode then alt mode and spliced them together LOL
Awesome, I've been waiting for a video like this 😊
Would love to see ones for 1985 and 1986 ❤
I will be doing 85 next week and have plans for 86

We all start out collecting only a few and put limits but it is so fun to go even deeper into collecting
Absolutely great video and really helps out. I took notes and can’t wait till the next video.
Perfect video! Been looking for this type of step by step breakdown on MP figures. I need to dump my XTB beachcomber and pick up a FT
I look forward to the 85 , 86 and 87 catalogs MP lists!
Glad you found this helpful and those are to come soon
I love this channel because I learn something every time I watch.
This is excellent, Mike!
I’m only looking for a few more bots & this video definitely helps 😊
Glad you find this helpful and I will be making more upcoming years soon
That 25 minutes zoomed by! Really enjoyed that, looking forward to the '85 video.
Glad you enjoyed and I plan on 85 next week
Thank you this video is very helpful
In 2017 had an opportunity to get F.T Spotter for $115.00
I passed.
Till this day I regret not getting the set So i settled for the Make Toys set
Oh,man! I would have loved to have this list and had the cash to buy them all
Viewers request this all the time so I will begin this new journey

Pisses me off that Mini bots from FT cost more or as much as i paid for official Takara Sunstreaker.
@@doro626 You can get 4-5 KO Takara carbots for the price of 1 FT minibot.
This is a great time to get so many budget options if you take know what to look for
Yup, couldn’t agree more. My only concern is the availability and/or the cost…
Not a fan of Transform Element for Optimus?
It is solid and I have that one but there are better options
The negative for TE-01 is that it’s not fully painted like MP-44 & MS EX version. It’s still a great figure & I don’t think transformation is that difficult. There’s a lot of steps tho.

Yeah that’s my favorite not a fan of my-44 huge backpack
@@pushtheball9829 ya it is my favorite as well. Had the MP-44 but hated the backpack so got rid of it.
What a time to be a collector! 🔥
i grew up in the 80's. this was the bet era for the transformers
SO true and the genesis of the franchise should always be remembered
That TE Mirage is $50 when you can find it. that settled it for me.
Great figure and great price

Seems lately Takara has not been feeling the love and may be quitting MP for a new scale
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Oh that is interesting. If the quality was up to their old standards people wouldn't be looking so much at third party.
Dx9 prowl looks great
That will be a great mold for all the Datsun bros
Still can't wait for a fantoys bumblebee
That will have to be a Fantastic Model sub name or something but surprised it has not been announced
I love the list! Third party is def a better choice than most takara figures in my opinion
It was not that way in the early 3p days but times have changed

I bet Takara watches FT and others release better versions of their old figures and it makes them question investment in other projects
Tamara's Seeker3.0 are way better than Deformation Spaces' imo
MP 36+ is modeled after the original megatron, how is that NOT on this list?
The Windcharger character needs a update big time
Shocked FT has not done it yet
There is still to be released a nice mp cliffjumper...😢
The fanstoys mini bots blew everything else out of the water
They are great bots and near perfect representations with all the diecast, paint and solid feel
Fantoys to me is the winner

Cartoon accurate colour

Voodoo Robots Ironhide/Ratchet
That is a good one but hard to track down these days
So basically buy fans toys. There save you 25 minutes of a video
Why so many trail breakers?!?!
It never makes sense which character gets so much love and competition. Look at Springer he is not a popular character and has 6 options
@@tydiriumhanger1320 but I love springer 😂
It was my first Transformer in 1984, I imagine it's the same for other people too.
Toyworld Bii looks like the best Bumblebee. Bumblebee 2.0 is ugly.
Bii is also a good reccomendation
2.0 Bumblebee face is too fat!!! And it's not a real VW bug!!!
