The main thing that stops me with these games is that it feels a bit like a half game knowing a ton of DLC is coming down the pipe. Not entirely sure why that's a turnoff. Like not sure when the time is best to dive in to get the ideal experience.

I get it, but as a long time consumer of theirs I can say that they are FULL Games. They are live service, so they simply keep piling stuff on. UNLIKE Paradox games, it doesn't feel like they're leaving our critical pieces to charge you for them later. Their DLCs are purely additive and they are high quality. They're one of the rare devs where this is true. Base game is good and robust and diverse, and the DLCs just continually expand the glory of the base game.

    • @fishcrazy7742

We got a water park (that doesn't work), a terrible UI, and they dropped about 1/2 of what was already in a 10 year old game called Planet Coaster 1. Roller Coaster Tycoon added water park functionality with just a DLC 20 years ago. And it works better. What a shame. Frontier is just Atari 2.0 at this point.

The current scenery themes in PC2 are: Viking, Greek Mythology, Aquatic, Summer Resort, and Planet Coaster. Also a good variety of flora.
Each of these themes have hundreds of prices that can all be scaled and recolored.
I think a clever person can, with effort, go well beyond the current themes.
Given how they have approached scenery pieces in the sequel, I understand why most themes from Planco 1 are not present. They will need to be recreated from scratch and that will be a lot of work, taking time and money so I accept their being sold back better as DLC.
Assuming the dlc themes are as good as the base ones, and are priced reasonably.

My perfect game would be a mashup of these Tycoon-Style games, City-building sims, and an RTS. I dream of a game where you can run a country, engaging in international trade and even war that allows you to zoom down to a local level and manage each zone like a SimCity, and down even further to where you can manage each part like Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Railroad Tycoon, etc. If I ever get rich I'll make this game, even if I'm the only one who would enjoy it.

Iirc it was first mgmt/strategy game i played as a kid (well, might have been championship manager 93 actually. Now known as football manager... my desert island game, and in a league of its own, if you like football (soccer
      ...)).
Amount of hours i sunk into it. Opened my world to strategy games after that. Settlers, Civilization, colonisation. My gaming time naturally moved to favouring this kind of genre, whereas most my friends preferred games where you 'actually contro/movel the characters/people'.
Recent years got back into gaming (covid years...) after 10 year hiatus, with all the current consoles. Just bought 4070 super, and selection of quality strategy games (particularly on pc), is unreal. Anno, planet coaster/zoo, crusader kings, medieval game, soviet game etc.
Shame real life and adukt responsibilities gets in way of indulging all these games :D
Just noticed bullfrog made syndicate too. Another one of my favourite games as a kid, during my amiga 500, then 1200 years.

Hello mate, no not heard/played that. I'll look it up. Re satellite game.
Tbh it's time factor. Given 10 year hiatus, I've been catching up on big hitters released in thst period. Many of which now on subscription. Finalky got into rdr2. Tried it 2 times before, found it slow, clunky... plus think other games came out, so didn't give it a go beyond opening snow chapter. Now I'm loving it, can totally appreciate the hype. Level of care, detail, Polish and immersiveness is top tier. Only done a few main story missions in chapter 2, as keep doing side stuff such grinding/hunting for unlimited satchel. It's phenemenol game and glad I persisted now.
I play gt7 in vr2 daily fir 30 mins, plus trying to keep football manager save going to! First workd problems, to say the least 😂.
Championship/football manager is special game/series. League of its own. But not for everyone. Heard maby people who aren't into gaming, play just that. Quite niche in many respects.
I too loved SWOS.before that it was Kick off. Good times. Much simpler/purer than fifa/ea fc. Speedball of course too. Played so much back then, maybe due to xcopy pro ;)
Do yku recall syndicate sequel? Fell flat. Much more polished than original, but lost its charm, enjoyment... fell disappointingly flat overall snd i barely played it in the end.
Later, didn't get into command abd conquer, but loved age of empires. I hace them downloaded via gamepass on series x, but may now install on pc for k/m. But may shelve it and comsider it one of those things best left in past!
Think I'll give planet coaster 2 a go. My daughter abd i love theme parks irl, and water parks too. So I'm tempted to try it and see if she likes it. But she didn't like sims due to not controlling people fully, and only 8 so maybe a bit esrly. well see..
Also planet zoo as she loves animals/zoo's
Ballders gate meant ti be tip tier isn't it, how decisions/choices impact outcomes. Its on my bloated list as well. I loved skyrim, witcher 3... fantasy rpgs. But baldurs gate more d&g rule orientated, point and click, turn based iirc, and a bit more learning curve and element of not for everyone despite rave reviews when I browse shouldibuy this game reddit sub.
But I think we'll enjoy, if give it few hours, to get used to it and the plot to drag us in. Turn based i like, as loved ff7 and played several after... but not modern ones snd ff7 remakes... yet.
Took me many hours to get into witcher 3, skyrim and now rdr2. Despite hype. But i fully expect rdr2 to enter my top 10 or 5 ganes of all time, like witcher 3 and skyrim. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see baldurs gate 3 in that bracket too, im sure it will be.
So i fully intend to give 5, 10 hours before moving on, if it doesn't initially grab me.

I've never played planet coaster, but I have planet zoo and i am really interested in getting this game. I am just wondering if the game builds and works the same since it took me a long time to properly learn how to do things in planet zoo and if its similar i should be fine but if its really different then idk how well i would do.

I'm guessing so, as Planet Coaster 1 came out before Planet Zoo, and that Planet Zoo was built on the same, but modified game engine.

Unfortunately you missed talking about the numerous bugs this game has. I have the PS5 version and stopped playing due to non stop bugs. It definitely was not ready for release and I am annoyed that I paid full price only to end up being a beta tester. PlayStation doesn’t do refunds or I would have gotten my money back.

Wish they would do a crossover with their planet zoo and Jurassic park games. I guess a planet zoo and Jurassic world evolution would be same thing in ways but dinosaurs and coasters sounds fun. There were some basic rides in operation genesis.

I'm looking forward to this. Going to play on Series X. Looking forward to being lazy on my couch. And excited for your Dragon Age review. So many differing opinions, some reviews seem like shills, while others are blasting the game before it even came out and trashing it for "wokeness". I don''t care as long as the gameplay is good and the story is good.

The menus seem like the same from PC1. I kind of wished they simplified them but alas, it isn't easy when it comes to something that has a lot of moving parts to handle so I can't blame them for the lack of UI decluttering- it would just end up being menu nesting all the way down and that's worse.
Otherwise, the game looks great and I'll def buy it once I have the chance too

DO NOT BUIY: Auf keinen Fall kaufen.
Keine Kaufempfehlung. PS Store stattet nicht zurück nach Download.

I already own Planet Coaster. Pools is not enough for me to buy the game a second time. Should have been a DLC, but then Frontier will now have a whole new season of DLCs for the next couple years on stuff you already own for Planco 1. 'Never Touch' for me.

I have seen a lot of the reviews on Steam and it confuses me as I was speaking with a friend who plays it, about Planet Coaster 2, and he says while it has issues it's still a lot of fun to play, and you have to figure given what Frontier did with the first Planet Coaster that there will be regular fixes and free updates along with the DLC which will give it longevity and also (you'd hope) resolve any underlying issues the game has.
