    This has been such a great tip!!! My orchids that I was sure would die are thriving. I bought a Foxglove last week for $3.50 because it was cracked and falling over. I repoted it in a tomato container to hold it up and wrapped the wound in aloe soaked spagnum moss. It's healthy and thriving. Thanks Maria, I love your channel so much ♥

Two green thumbs up to you also my friend on bargain shopping AND KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK! :)

I was about to buy keiki paste, the exact one in this video, to try and get them to create basal keikis (they have no flower spikes). I would like to try this method first. Great video... I never knew this. Trying to save 3 phals that someone gave me with root rot. Question.. I usually put weak/sick orchids in my fish pond and I think the fish food/ guck/ moving water helps the roots grow. At what point would you repot your phal with new nubby roots? How long should they be?

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching! The fish water is an excellent source of fertilizer for the orchids so it does provide lots of benefits for it...but I would take it out from time to time to ensure that it has the ability to dry out. Leaving the orchids for too long amounts of time can cause the roots to begin to decay or rot. I would allow the roots to grow about 2" or more before I attempt to repot them and I would only pot them.

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  5 лет назад +1

      That is a fabulous experiment! You may have to apply more of the aloe vera on a continued basis to get a better result...but I believe because it is natural it has less risk and effect on the plant. Some plants become weaker when using the kekei paste because it does not provide the plant with the same energy/plant growing goodness as the aloe but instead will actually drain the energy from the plant without replenishing it. Please let me know of the results.

      THANKS SO MUCH! There is much to be said to getting back to the basics and getting back to nature. There are so many beneficial plants that we take for granted and don't appreciate their properties and their wonderful healing effects. We've become a society that has become dependent the pharmaceutical drugs in which many of them cause more side effects and worse symptoms in the long run. In the Philippines majority of our medicines that we use are the very plants that we grow or are growing all around us...but here in the states they get overlooked and we never even get to learn about how many benefits they have for ourselves as well as our plants.

    Well, results don't lie do they? The plants you sent are rooting nicely. Made a nice community pot while they are young then will split when they get some nice root structure going. Thanks, that was a nice thing to get, especially the Vanda. I actually came up with a design for it as a mount/pot. For last and best, i am propagating the tree seeds you sent. I am going to give them away to locals for free. Your tree just might be seen growing in twenty years all over south Alabama. Who knows where those seeds you sent might spread. Just one question. Have you ever seen bees on the blossoms of this tree? Don't fear them.They are just collecting resources.

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  5 лет назад +1

      Yes indeed! I have been in the lab for quite some time now working with natural materials to make fertilizers and growth hormones to see which work the best and what results I've received. It's one thing to talk about it and another to literally witness the results and be able to share good sound information. It is quite a pleasure when my orchid buddies let me know that the information that I've shared has literally benefitted them.
      I am so happy that you can appreciate the piece of my graden that I sent! I hope they do exceedingly well for you! The mount pot sounds awesome! You are quite the orchid container builder! :) ...and that is a fabulous thing that you are doing with the seeds...I am truly hoping that they can do well in your area. They are fast growers and can actually begin blooming between 2-3 years if given the proper conditions. Also when this tree matures, the outter bark of the tree is quite unusual where it has somewhat of a cork like feel...you can actually press into the bark and it has a little bit of a spongy feel to it...I believe that is why it is so easy to mount on this tree.
      And the bees absolutely love the large florescent trumpet flowers from this tree. All throughout the day you will see swarming and buzzing about hard at work. I've gotten used to the bees...they don't bother me and I don't bother them. We live in beautiful peaceful harmony.

I know that there are some ground growing that can be propagated through seeds by simply spreading on the ground. I don't know but give it a shot...it may work. There is a way to propagate the spent spikes of it though by simply cutting about 6" segments and keeping it in a sealed container filled with moist sphagnum moss. I never have tried it yet...but it is a propagation method for these.
