I did much the same when I grew orchids in Florida, USA except I used sulphur to coat the cut ends with much the same results. When my babies had roots such as yours, I would mount them to emulate their growing in the wild. I hope they, and yourself, keep growing and prosper.

You could burn a small candle in a jar and dip the ends of the stems in the melted wax, this was easier for me because I tend to be clumsy and hate getting burned lol!!🥰
Orchids are one of my fav flowers. I used to go an Arboritum on Long Island. They had an orchid house. I spent so much time there looking at all of the different types. ❤

Na górze pod filmem opisałam po szwedzku jak ja ukorzeniłam niechcący kawałek grubej łodygi orchidei, po prostu ucięty kawałek wsadzilam do doniczki z innym kwiatem i tyle. Ale to był taki gatunek, który miał dużo grubych łodyg, a większość orchidei ma liście u podstawy, przy ziemi i pęd kwiatowy jest cienki, wątpie czy się ukorzeni.

Hi, thanks so much for the update after the baby orchid growing root and leaves ! Now I know how to transfer them next 😊 but my have roots 1/4 inch and no leaves yet , only a tiny greenish. So may I know if too early put them to a bowl like your video at the end? So glad I found your videos and I will watch other ones soon

I have never tried with the candle, but it also works with rubbing onion or aloe vera on it. Just like with the ginger, I think it's mostly to prevent bacteriae or infections or mold getting in the stumps.

I love all orchids since I was a child in Thailand - Bangkok.. My uncle had a corner 5 m2 in his garden and I helped him to water sometimes. Therefore I have some orchids indoor here. I've always wanted to grow orchids and take cuttings to grow more of them. Yesterday I bought a Lady's Slipper orchid just by chance on the spur of the moment, and watching this has given me the confidence that taking cuttings from it is something that I can do because there was always an air of mystery around orchid propagation for me. I've taken many cuttings from roses and the like, but orchids always seemed to be another level above what I was doing, until now. Are those pieces of stem cut from the same stems that the flowers grow on? And when do you cut the stem into sections, before or after the flowers have grown? Cheers 👍
Unfortunately this method does not work to reproduce lady's slipper orchids / Paphiopedilum. Your plant will produce new shoots after flowering, but it is not as prolific as a Dendrobium. Plantlets can only be separated from the mother plant when they are well developed.
@@sergiovieira1053 Thanks for the information Sergio. I've now found out that my orchid is a Pinocchio so I imagine that will propagate the same way as a Lady's Slipper?
@@JammyGit Then you're in luck! This hybrid, in addition to being able to produce flowers successively over several months, is much more prolific than most Paphiopedilum. Over the years, a stem forms from which multiple shoots appear, which can be removed when fully grown.. However, I confess that I have already let some Pinocchios die. At least in my Mediterranean climate they are more difficult to re-flower and susceptible to dry air than the Himalayan species.

Btw here's a tip... You could burn a small candle in a jar and dip the ends of the stems in the melted wax, this was easier for me because I tend to be clumsy and hate getting burned lol!!🥰

Na górze pod filmem opisałam po szwedzku jak ja ukorzeniłam niechcący kawałek grubej łodygi orchidei, po prostu ucięty kawałek wsadzilam do doniczki z innym kwiatem i tyle. Ale to był taki gatunek, który miał dużo grubych łodyg, a większość orchidei ma liście u podstawy, przy ziemi i pęd kwiatowy jest cienki, wątpie czy się ukorzeni.
Bardzo@ dokładne tłumaczenie jak postępować z takimi roślinkami ,dla mnie to jest super szkoła bo bardzo pragnęłam żeby nauczyć się jak rozmn ażać takie roślinki ❤

Hi, thanks so much for the update after the baby orchid growing root and leaves ! Now I know how to transfer them next 😊 but my have roots 1/4 inch and no leaves yet , only a tiny greenish. So may I know if too early put them to a bowl like your video at the end? So glad I found your videos and I will watch other ones soon

I have never tried with the candle, but it also works with rubbing onion or aloe vera on it. Just like with the ginger, I think it's mostly to prevent bacteriae or infections or mold getting in the stumps.

Wow😇 Thank you for the tips and how to take care orchid for new plantation. Here Orchids are very expensive. This will be good hobby for me. I love all orchids since I was a child in Thailand - Bangkok.. My uncle had a corner 5 m2 in his garden and I helped him to water sometimes. Therefore I have some orchids indoor here. I've always wanted to grow orchids and take cuttings to grow more of them. Yesterday I bought a Lady's Slipper orchid just by chance on the spur of the moment, and watching this has given me the confidence that taking cuttings from it is something that I can do because there was always an air of mystery around orchid propagation for me. I've taken many cuttings from roses and the like, but orchids always seemed to be another level above what I was doing, until now.
Are those pieces of stem cut from the same stems that the flowers grow on? And when do you cut the stem into sections, before or after the flowers have grown? Cheers 👍
Unfortunately this method does not work to reproduce lady's slipper orchids / Paphiopedilum.
Your plant will produce new shoots after flowering, but it is not as prolific as a Dendrobium. Plantlets can only be separated from the mother plant when they are well developed.
@@sergiovieira1053 Thanks for the information Sergio. I've now found out that my orchid is a Pinocchio so I imagine that will propagate the same way as a Lady's Slipper?
@@JammyGit Then you're in luck! This hybrid, in addition to being able to produce flowers successively over several months, is much more prolific than most Paphiopedilum. Over the years, a stem forms from which multiple shoots appear, which can be removed when fully grown..
However, I confess that I have already let some Pinocchios die. At least in my Mediterranean climate they are more difficult to re-flower and susceptible to dry air than the Himalayan species.
