It's funny how Killer instinct. An 10 year old game had a update and the developers wanted feedback from fans. From how the moves they changed affect the gameplay to the new character artwork. They LISTENED to the fans!!
Tbh Im one of few stick with Killer Instinct after all this times. Great games for fun or competitive, both with friends or online, with a cool Single player mode and new cosmetics to unlock. The closest thing to be this fun was MKX.
The fact they have soooooooooooooo many characters on the KI roster that would fit PERFECTLY in MK Sadira Jago Shadow Jago B. Orchid Fulgore Eagle Hisako. And not ONE of them got considered for MK 9 MK X 11 or MK 1 just baffles me to the core. They chose Peacemaker over characters that legitimately would've already felt like Mortal Kombat characters
I used to be an MK fan, it used to be my favorite fighting game, but it's honestly a serious shame to see what Mortal Kombat has become. Mortal Kombat (to me) died in 2021 when Mortal Kombat 11 ended support. It was at that moment I realized that Mortal Kombat was not going to get better soon. I checked out MK1 from multiple youtubers and streamers with a slim hope that maybe just maybe it would get better. At first it looked like it did, but then as time passed more people revealed its horrible flaws and NRS' poor business practices and that is when I just completely lost hope. Over the past few years I have jumped ship and been trying out many different games from many different companies. Capcom's Street Fighter, Namco's Tekken, even a few obscure/underrated games like SEGA's Virtua Fighter, and SNK's King of Fighters and Fatal Fury/Garou Densetsu. So far I have been more passionate with Tekken and SNK games, and I also got a bit of a soft spot for Virtua Fighter. I would go more into detail as to why I became more attached to those games over time and why I ditched MK over those games, but my whole point is that Mortal Kombat has just lost its charm. At least as a fighting game in general. MK has become so uninteresting to the point where I just felt motivated to try out many other fighting games from other companies primarily out of pure curiosity, but then my curiosity just became a desperate desire to find a fighting game I would enjoy more than Mortal Kombat. On one hand, I'm glad I found it and have been having a good time with it. On the other hand, it makes me sad to see just how lackluster and mediocre Mortal Kombat has become.
Virtua Fighter, KoF, and Garou aren't obscure or underrated to real fighting game fans/players. Definitely not known amongst most casuals or younger players. Yeah, those games are quality. You keep branching out and you'll see how clunky and unpolished MK has been as a fighting game since basically, its inception.
The writing was on the wall with MK11 in all honesty. They were either going to listen to the community or not. At this point, they would need to buy a lot of good will from me to even want another project from them. They need to clean house before releasing anything else.
MK11 was a visual masterpiece and all they had to do was to fix the bug and balance the low-tier characters. It was an unfinished potentially good product.

This actually explains a lot about Trueunderdawg's behavior. I remember there was a time (about 3 years ago) he was still loved by the community. I loved his "the most xxx" series, since he covers MK9 and Injustice 1 characters that I know nothing about. I only came to the series after bumping into some MKX trailers on RUclips and I fell in love with that game. Now he is just a shell of his former self, desperately cling onto anything to maintain a livable wage on RUclips. That's sad. And I don't think he is the only one. Companies that have PR teams pocketing RUclipsr/streamers can backfire so badly.
He said publicly he never received any money from nrs. I do not think, he is bold enough to lie about that. To me, that guy simply is an insane mortal kombat fan boy, like an absolute die hard.

However, since his livelihood is so closely tied to the game, he has to "shill" (so to speak). I don't like accusing anyone of anything, but his case is too desperate and sad to watch. Not claiming anything about TD but it is really weird that anytime someone is passionate about a game they are a shill, unless the game is "good". I for one loved SF5 from beginning to end, also loved MvCI. Sure they had major issues but nothing I couldn't overlook. Sometimes people have different opinions and what is a deal breaker for you may be a minor issue to another. There are no objective definitions of what's fun or worth playing. That said I got MK1 because my nephew didn't have a PS5 at the time and wanted to check it out, even got season pass. It gave us time to chill together. Gave it to him when he got one on Xmas and haven't even bothered to get it back. Maybe when Takeda comes I'll snag it back, but I doubt it.
At the end of the day , sales are what matters. And the game is selling great and was always selling great. They will never change anything major unless the sales are impacted. See call of duty. And i even understand that, tbh. I would also not really care, if what i do sells millions of copies. @DD-zh4by I disagree, the statement itself could be perceived as exaggerated, but I have been a huge fan since the original, and I slowly lost interest in it with each 3d installment (except Shaolin Monks, I was pleasantly surprised with that game). I owned and played every MK up to 11. I no longer have any interest with the direction they've taken the franchise: character design, lore decisions, fighting system, features, concepts, everything. It's sad AF.
The nrs studio needs to go through a purge or rumbling of sorts a new team needs to be brought in with fresh ideas.. a team that will listen.. And ask for the shills black list them.. The same way nrs went from midway to nrs they need a massive overhaul.
Don’t need fresh ideas, they just need to take what worked best in every game and put it in one game, look for example at tekken and street fighter, these two just keep improving without starting from scratch every time. The biggest mistake is that NRS keeps making every mk game from scratch… especially the core part of it.
All of entertainment needs a Renaissance. Movies, gaming, comics, even DnD...creativity and fan service is being choked and gr@ped by corporate greed. Art cannot exist in an environment stifled with quotas to check and shareholders to report to.
I come from tekken and street fighter. The only thing i needed to know about mk1 is „you cannot search games out of practice mode“ . That fact alone tells you , there is something majorly here, if a WB backed product, that sells millions of times do not has a simple feature like that. That say so much about the priorities of mk.

I remember that time when an interviewer asked Ed Boon about what he wanted to do in the future of the franchise and he said a puzzle MK-styled minigame. And someone turned to him and said... In a world where the community TOTALLY disregards those games, the co-creator of the franchise also using them as a laughing stock is... I uninstalled the game yesterday. I told myself there are some things about the game I like, but there is too much I don't like. I'll revisit the game in a year and will hope the FGC says it's in a way better place. If not, oh well.
I'm glad you're calling TrueUnderdawg out, the guy is so fake it's actually uncomfortable to watch him. It's not just him flat out lying about MK "facts" that he presents just to defend the game, but the guy is just so desperate and sad, it's horrible. He screams loneliness and insecurity every time he speaks. I watched him back in the day but today he is unbearable and I had to unsubscribe to him.

Creativity, ingenuity, mystery was absent from this game. They served up the same players same areas. Their main focus is guest fighters every couple of months and the store. Laziest iteration of the franchise.
It's a shame. Mortal Kombat is one of those properties from childhood that was neat, but its potential was squandered by many of the games just not being all that good, if not downright bad. NRS doesn't know how to make an actual good competitive fighting game, full stop, when it happens it's basically by accident.
I wanna thank you guys for your honesty. You saved me some money....well NRS did, because after MK 11, hell during MK 11, i was done. Been playing fighting games since 1992, i never had a fighting game bore me before. I played "Evil Zone" back on PS One, and had more hours in that game than MK 11. Not bullshittin'. In a perfect world, if MK X had MK 11 character models, oh man! Basically, MK X gameplay style with MK 11 graphics. I personally think would be heaven. Anyway, Back to Tekken 8!
Went back to MKX, still some good players on there. Not touched MK1 since Omni Man and have no intention of going back, unless really big changes are made, more worthwhile content and ifTakeka and Ermac are any good.

The idea of growing the MK scene and not just this game or that game would be amazing. I know I would dive right back into MKX again if it got going. Especially if there were new tech vids especially for it.

Even though I'm not a regular viewer of MK content, it's disheartening to see the NRS community eat itself alive and actively despise folks, like Tom, who kept MK alive and relevant before MK9 and still keeps trying to help NRS and the community despite all the shit-flinging thrown at him. It's kinda funny and sad at the same time that the thing that exites me about MK1 is Oddgiant's AI intros who right now has a better storyline than what NRS came up with in the first place.
@RealMKTomBrady you were one of the first to introduce me to the eventually bland gameplay of mk1. I've gotten to the point i don't even play with my friends anymore which was the only fun i was having since the netcode was so bad. I also dread the moment Janet Cage comes out b/c i see she will be too broken and no kameo will match the skill gap. She will be a kenshi ghost for everyone which is just too busted for those who learn her and everyone playing against her will just have to set their controllers down when the mix-ups start. This game had a ton of promise but i don't believe it anymore. The fact they didn't really patch the game for S3 was the nail in the coffin.
Invasions mode is just not good at all & getting rid of the krypt was a huge mistake. Later in the podcast, Mike Hollow says if you DO like the game, play it, and stay out of their business in the comments section on RUclips.. If you don't like it, keep your mouth shut. I think that MK1 started off as a mobile game. When you look at the 1 gear piece that characters have,the skins that mostly consist of only color changes, and then invations which is the lamest thing ever. Next time you play the game... Look closely. Things start making a lot of sense.
Its clear that ed boon isn’t allowed 2 speak on the true issues with the game & the mk community, it’s truly sad because i know he deeply cares about the franchise.
Also, to suggest going back to 3D MK is crazy. The only reason anyone is still talking about this game, is because they abandoned the 3D model for MK..

Since the last patch I haven't touched MK1 and probably won't touch it again. I still keep following these talks because part of me wants MK to be good and I don't want it to fade as a distant memory. I want to remember what's wrong with it because that helps me remember what I used to like as well. The gameplay I see now is horrible to me, very mechanistic and uninspiring, with a clock-like rhythm which is so plain and unnatural, no sense of power in any moves. It's just about which player manages to unleash the longest combo first. Plus the art direction being a disaster doesn't help either, destroying its entire identity and legacy. Such a sad state this game is in.
I love MK so much. I left her a long time and then I came back in Mk11 and I loved him very much, and I spent the days and months in it and enjoyed a lot . And I was so excited for the new MK1 But I don't know why I have some discomfort The most time I spent playing on it maybe it's just an hour or two a day I'm not as excited as MK11 Why? I don't know
I know people liked mkx, but imma be honest: that's when i kinda just left the MK series. I tried 11, but i dunno. Mortal kombat for me just didnt hit right. While i was probably wrong on MKX, i must've had some sorta feeling where netherrealms was gonna mess up the series, and community. To be fair tho, mortal kombat was always more casual to play, while i played soul Calibur (which arguably has a worse fate than MK at this point, and probably gonna be a dead series.)
Mkx had the worst animations in any modern fighting game hands down. Ugly color pallete and variations. But it was fun to play combo and creative wise. MK9 is hands down one of the if not the best MK game made. Maybe we need H. Sanchez to lead the next game..

I'd hate to say it but MK might just die lol. These western studios gotta get their shit together and it's not just the cultural shit it's the lack of dedication. Tim Cain the creator of Fallout put out a video talking about how just holding people accountable to doing their jobs and needing WEEKS more time to do something that can be done in a day has skyrocketed the cost and difficulty for getting games finished AND good. Just look at the marketing for NRS games also. Very little events. And Kombat Kast is very bland and awkward. Compare that to the recent SF6 Red bull event

I feel when they put up 1m for Evo pot they didn’t really see the return on investment they were hoping for. I think mk is feeling the residual effect of multiverses initial failure. Also mk does have the tag feature still in the game files but they haven’t completed it for some reason. I feel it will be added to game, at least i hope
I think they will feel the economic hit on the next mk game. Definitly. Maybe even on their next project, what ever that may be. This is not an attack Tom, but I want you to know that the original MK test released in Chicago and in Florida the summer before its official release. Same version, we just got it early. You see it’s so weird because I’ve had the same feeling for a few months now that NRS is self sabotaging. It’s one thing if I myself feels that way because who the fuck am I? But when someone else also feels that way then that can’t be a coincidence right?
It's sad when the actual truth tellers like these three are the ones that are ostracized by the developer when it should be the exact opposite. Good companies WANT feedback and criticism so they can improve the products. It's all completely ass backwards lol.
MK9 was not a perfect game, but it was a great comeback for the MK franchise. Sure, you could do 50% combos but those combos took skill, practice and resources. And the opponent had a higher chance of using the breaker. Two bars of meter is all it took. And you had great variety in viable combos and moves. The same is true for MKX. MK11 was a sleepfest. Every character had one optimal combo you were going to see 99% of the time. The combo system was nerfed down to make KB shine, but KBs was a very poorly thought out mechanic that became pretty boring pretty fast. The breakaway was an awful defence mechanic that either punished the attacker for playing the game right or punished the defender by putting them at the feet of their opponent without resources to protect themselves. And watching the same long ass fatal blows every match was pretty tiring. Now MK1 characters have great combo potential. You can do 50% but those are way too easy to do. And the breaker costs 3 bars of meter. In short you break once, it's highly unlikely you will have three bars of meter again in that match. Two mistakes and you health bar is gone. Being stuck in an infinite combo is no fun either.
MK1 is a mess. Hope it eventually turns around but as long as we have shills and as long as people spend their money blindly, nothing is going to ever change. As a diehard fan of the franchise, it really hurts to see no one give a shit about this and it’s even more sad when you’ve got people who, while they enjoy the game, will NOT point out its flaws. No one is saying you can’t enjoy the game. However, when there’s CLEAR issues with it, be real. Also, stop telling people to “suck it up, stop complaining and move on”. That’s not the way to go when there are things that absolutely need to change. NRS is more concerned with pretending people still care about Invasions mode, useless changes to the game and stupid birthday shoutouts during every cringy Kombat Kast. Sad. By the way, I now have a greater respect for Dynasty after this upload.
I actually really enjoyed MK11 but always respected people’s opinions on the game and never felt like it was perfect. Haven’t enjoyed MK1 since release but respect the ones that genuinely do..

@DragonbornBard The 3d style doesn't fit Mortal Kombat to me. Maybe I'm just too used the 2d style, but I definitely don't want a 3d Mortal Kombat game. I'm not a fan of 3d Era games either, they felt like Tekken rip offs. Even if another company besides NRS makes a 3d Mortal Kombat, I'll still probably pass on it because I'm just not into that style for this game.

My brother brought it within the 1st week or 2 of its launch, and i watched him play and i just knew something about it rubbed me the wrong way. I actually kind of liked for the most part mk11. I played cetrion and brutality(ed) someone with the flying boulder and that was the coolest shit i did in a game visually...it is a shame because for them to come back their gonna have to show some serious commitment and improvement.
The MK community which I absolutely love has become the new COD community COD has been down since 2019 and just like MW2019 COD2022 and MW32024 the devs don’t listen they don’t care some do and some are really good people which I am sure the same exists at NRS the problem is you have a game which is ok but with SF6 and T8 having so much more content and those games excel whereas MK1 is a dumpster fire and the anytime a new Kameo becomes available the meta changes whether it’s Lao hat or Stryker or now khameleon and next will be Janet cage with horrible netcode and basic kombos with gaps in the strings and we ask for buffs and we get nothing just like we asked for MW2019 for an overhaul with dead silence being a perk and we got crickets … NRS will go down in flames if they don’t listen to the community at this point because instead of being the vocal minority we need to be the vocal majority and maybe they will listen
I remember couple years back when things were dire with capcom’s fighting games, you had people accusing MaximillianDood of simultaneously being a shill and hating on first SFV and then MvC:I. The most popular and watched FGC content creator, someone whose especially been known as a diehard and the face for Marvel vs capcom wasn’t allowed to voice his concerns or even stuff he liked about these games and capcom without the tribalistic mongrels giving him a hard time about it. Hell he made his own views know how he didn’t vibe with MK11 and how MK1 is better but still has a whole new set of problems that still keeps these games away from being as great as MK used to be. Are we going to keep accusing that guy of being on the hate train? Is he gonna get blacklisted by Boon and his Goon squad like Pig?
Shoutout Dynasty. The only MK guy I know of that covered WB abusing the strike system to get peoples accounts taken down across RUclips, Twitter, and TikTok. Years of work down the drain for so many people.

Facts! Look at Tekken 8 and SF6. They put love and care into it. And it shows with the sales and feedback. Even KILLER INSTINCT got love with an update.

It's funny how Killer instinct. An 10 year old game had a update and the developers wanted feedback from fans. From how the moves they changed affect the gameplay to the new character artwork. They LISTENED to the fans!!
Tbh Im one of few stick with Killer Instinct after all this times. Great games for fun or competitive, both with friends or online, with a cool Single player mode and new cosmetics to unlock. The closest thing to be this fun was MKX.

The fact they have soooooooooooooo many characters on the KI roster that would fit PERFECTLY in MK Sadira Jago Shadow Jago B. Orchid Fulgore Eagle Hisako. And not ONE of them got considered for MK 9 MK X 11 or MK 1 just baffles me to the core. They chose Peacemaker over characters that legitimately would've already felt like Mortal Kombat characters
I used to be an MK fan, it used to be my favorite fighting game, but it's honestly a serious shame to see what Mortal Kombat has become. Mortal Kombat (to me) died in 2021 when Mortal Kombat 11 ended support. It was at that moment I realized that Mortal Kombat was not going to get better soon. I checked out MK1 from multiple youtubers and streamers with a slim hope that maybe just maybe it would get better. At first it looked like it did, but then as time passed more people revealed its horrible flaws and NRS' poor business practices and that is when I just completely lost hope.
Over the past few years I have jumped ship and been trying out many different games from many different companies. Capcom's Street Fighter, Namco's Tekken, even a few obscure/underrated games like SEGA's Virtua Fighter, and SNK's King of Fighters and Fatal Fury/Garou Densetsu. So far I have been more passionate with Tekken and SNK games, and I also got a bit of a soft spot for Virtua Fighter. I would go more into detail as to why I became more attached to those games over time and why I ditched MK over those games, but my whole point is that Mortal Kombat has just lost its charm. At least as a fighting game in general.
MK has become so uninteresting to the point where I just felt motivated to try out many other fighting games from other companies primarily out of pure curiosity, but then my curiosity just became a desperate desire to find a fighting game I would enjoy more than Mortal Kombat. On one hand, I'm glad I found it and have been having a good time with it. On the other hand, it makes me sad to see just how lackluster and mediocre Mortal Kombat has become.

Virtua Fighter, KoF, and Garou aren't obscure or underrated to real fighting game fans/players. Definitely not known amongst most casuals or younger players. Yeah, those games are quality. You keep branching out and you'll see how clunky and unpolished MK has been as a fighting game since basically, its inception.
The writing was on the wall with MK11 in all honesty. They were either going to listen to the community or not.
At this point, they would need to buy a lot of good will from me to even want another project from them. They need to clean house before releasing anything else.
MK11 was a visual masterpiece and all they had to do was to fix the bug and balance the low-tier characters. It was an unfinished potentially good product.

This actually explains a lot about Trueunderdawg's behavior. I remember there was a time (about 3 years ago) he was still loved by the community. I loved his "the most xxx" series, since he covers MK9 and Injustice 1 characters that I know nothing about. I only came to the series after bumping into some MKX trailers on RUclips and I fell in love with that game.
Now he is just a shell of his former self, desperately cling onto anything to maintain a livable wage on RUclips. That's sad. And I don't think he is the only one. Companies that have PR teams pocketing RUclipsr/streamers can backfire so badly.

Not claiming anything about TD but it is really weird that anytime someone is passionate about a game they are a shill, unless the game is "good". I for one loved SF5 from beginning to end, also loved MvCI. Sure they had major issues but nothing I couldn't overlook. Sometimes people have different opinions and what is a deal breaker for you may be a minor issue to another. There are no objective definitions of what's fun or worth playing.
That said I got MK1 because my nephew didn't have a PS5 at the time and wanted to check it out, even got season pass. It gave us time to chill together. Gave it to him when he got one on Xmas and haven't even bothered to get it back. Maybe when Takeda comes I'll snag it back, but I doubt it.

I owned and played every MK up to 11. I no longer have any interest with the direction they've taken the franchise: character design, lore decisions, fighting system, features, concepts, everything. It's sad AF.

I come from tekken and street fighter. The only thing i needed to know about mk1 is „you cannot search games out of practice mode“ . That fact alone tells you , there is something majorly here, if a WB backed product, that sells millions of times do not has a simple feature like that. That say so much about the priorities of mk.

As a fan of the 3D era, my first game ever for the PS2 was MK:D (Trigger Man doesn't count). That was also my first touch with fighting games. I've played this game like hell with my childhood friend and still boot it sometimes till this day.

In a world where the community TOTALLY disregards those games, the co-creator of the franchise also using them as a laughing stock is... I uninstalled the game yesterday. I told myself there are some things about the game I like, but there is too much I don't like. I'll revisit the game in a year and will hope the FGC says it's in a way better place. If not, oh well.

Creativity, ingenuity, mystery was absent from this game. They served up the same players same areas. Their main focus is guest fighters every couple of months and the store. Laziest iteration of the franchise.
It's a shame. Mortal Kombat is one of those properties from childhood that was neat, but its potential was squandered by many of the games just not being all that good, if not downright bad. NRS doesn't know how to make an actual good competitive fighting game, full stop, when it happens it's basically by accident.

Been playing fighting games since 1992, i never had a fighting game bore me before. I played "Evil Zone" back on PS One, and had more hours in that game than MK 11. Not bullshittin'. In a perfect world, if MK X had MK 11 character models, oh man! Basically, MK X gameplay style with MK 11 graphics. I personally think would be heaven.

When you have to resort to Evil Zone as a positive compared to a modern MK, thats when you know they've hit rock bottom.
Went back to MKX, still some good players on there. Not touched MK1 since Omni Man and have no intention of going back, unless really big changes are made, more worthwhile content and ifTakeka and Ermac are any good.

Even though I'm not a regular viewer of MK content, it's disheartening to see the NRS community eat itself alive and actively despise folks, like Tom, who kept MK alive and relevant before MK9 and still keeps trying to help NRS and the community despite all the shit-flinging thrown at him. This isn't the voice of a crybaby or a hater, this is the desperate voice of someone who is passionate about what he loves and is so distraught having to see something he and many others love so much, be destroyed. My heart goes all to Tom and everyone who loves MK, fighting games or any passion in general who aren't afraid to speak out and refuse to blindingly comply due to senseless tribalism.
P.S. Tom, if you do read this, thank you for all you've tried to do for the MK scene. I've been binging on your videos and am slowly working through your past catalogue and it's evident that you aren't this toxic person that certain people are/have been painting you to be. It's kinda funny and sad at the same time that the thing that exites me about MK1 is Oddgiant's AI intros who right now has a better storyline than what NRS came up with in the first place.
@RealMKTomBrady you were one of the first to introduce me to the eventually bland gameplay of mk1. I've gotten to the point i don't even play with my friends anymore which was the only fun i was having since the netcode was so bad. I also dread the moment Janet Cage comes out b/c i see she will be too broken and no kameo will match the skill gap. She will be a kenshi ghost for everyone which is just too busted for those who learn her and everyone playing against her will just have to set their controllers down when the mix-ups start. This game had a ton of promise but i don't believe it anymore. The fact they didn't really patch the game for S3 was the nail in the coffin.
Invasions mode is just not good at all & getting rid of the krypt was a huge mistake.

I think that MK1 started off as a mobile game. When you look at the 1 gear piece that characters have,the skins that mostly consist of only color changes, and then invations which is the lamest thing ever. Next time you play the game... Look closely. Things start making a lot of sense.
When the first gameplay dropped, I got that impression “WTH? Is this a mobile game?”
Its clear that ed boon isn’t allowed 2 speak on the true issues with the game & the mk community, it’s truly sad because i know he deeply cares about the franchise.

Also, to suggest going back to 3D MK is crazy. The only reason anyone is still talking about this game, is because they abandoned the 3D model for MK..

Since the last patch I haven't touched MK1 and probably won't touch it again. I still keep following these talks because part of me wants MK to be good and I don't want it to fade as a distant memory. I want to remember what's wrong with it because that helps me remember what I used to like as well.
The gameplay I see now is horrible to me, very mechanistic and uninspiring, with a clock-like rhythm which is so plain and unnatural, no sense of power in any moves. It's just about which player manages to unleash the longest combo first. Plus the art direction being a disaster doesn't help either, destroying its entire identity and legacy.
Such a sad state this game is in.
I love MK so much. I left her a long time and then I came back in Mk11 and I loved him very much, and I spent the days and months in it and enjoyed a lot .
And I was so excited for the new MK1
But I don't know why I have some discomfort

I know people liked mkx, but imma be honest: that's when i kinda just left the MK series. I tried 11, but i dunno. Mortal kombat for me just didnt hit right. While i was probably wrong on MKX, i must've had some sorta feeling where netherrealms was gonna mess up the series, and community. To be fair tho, mortal kombat was always more casual to play, while i played soul Calibur (which arguably has a worse fate than MK at this point, and probably gonna be a dead series.)
Mkx had the worst animations in any modern fighting game hands down. Ugly color pallete and variations. But it was fun to play combo and creative wise. MK9 is hands down one of the if not the best MK game made. Maybe we need H. Sanchez to lead the next game..

I'd hate to say it but MK might just die lol. These western studios gotta get their shit together and it's not just the cultural shit it's the lack of dedication. Tim Cain the creator of Fallout put out a video talking about how just holding people accountable to doing their jobs and needing WEEKS more time to do something that can be done in a day has skyrocketed the cost and difficulty for getting games finished AND good.
Just look at the marketing for NRS games also. Very little events. And Kombat Kast is very bland and awkward. Compare that to the recent SF6 Red bull event
I personally think it has something to do behind the scenes with WB and NRS. Seems like there has been term oil behind the scene

They think the game was supposed to be a tag team situation. Which makes all the sense in the world. Why the hell would you have a game with assists and only ONE assist? At that point you would just make it a God damn tag team game.

I feel when they put up 1m for Evo pot they didn’t really see the return on investment they were hoping for. I think mk is feeling the residual effect of multiverses initial failure. Also mk does have the tag feature still in the game files but they haven’t completed it for some reason. I feel it will be added to game, at least i hope
I think they will feel the economic hit on the next mk game. Definitly. Maybe even on their next project, what ever that may be. I at least will not buy anything from them anymore and I think we are many more.

I’ve been an MK fanatic since I first played MK Trilogy, and watching the steady decline of the series is heartbreaking. We went from MK9 and MKX to this load of shit, and all I hear when I list the issues is “oh you’re just whining” or “skill issue”

It's sad when the actual truth tellers like these three are the ones that are ostracized by the developer when it should be the exact opposite. Good companies WANT feedback and criticism so they can improve the products. It's all completely ass backwards lol.

What's more depressing is that mk1 would've been my first purchase 😢.
MK9 was not a perfect game, but it was a great comeback for the MK franchise. Sure, you could do 50% combos but those combos took skill, practice and resources. And the opponent had a higher chance of using the breaker. Two bars of meter is all it took. And you had great variety in viable combos and moves. The same is true for MKX.
MK11 was a sleepfest. Every character had one optimal combo you were going to see 99% of the time. The combo system was nerfed down to make KB shine, but KBs was a very poorly thought out mechanic that became pretty boring pretty fast. The breakaway was an awful defence mechanic that either punished the attacker for playing the game right or punished the defender by putting them at the feet of their opponent without resources to protect themselves. And watching the same long ass fatal blows every match was pretty tiring.
Now MK1 characters have great combo potential. You can do 50% but those are way too easy to do. And the breaker costs 3 bars of meter. In short you break once, it's highly unlikely you will have three bars of meter again in that match. Two mistakes and you health bar is gone. Being stuck in an infinite combo is no fun either.
MK1 is a mess. Hope it eventually turns around but as long as we have shills and as long as people spend their money blindly, nothing is going to ever change. As a diehard fan of the franchise, it really hurts to see no one give a shit about this and it’s even more sad when you’ve got people who, while they enjoy the game, will NOT point out its flaws. No one is saying you can’t enjoy the game. However, when there’s CLEAR issues with it, be real. Also, stop telling people to “suck it up, stop complaining and move on”. That’s not the way to go when there are things that absolutely need to change.
NRS is more concerned with pretending people still care about Invasions mode, useless changes to the game and stupid birthday shoutouts during every cringy Kombat Kast.
Sad.
By the way, I now have a greater respect for Dynasty after this upload.

@DragonbornBard The 3d style doesn't fit Mortal Kombat to me. Maybe I'm just too used the 2d style, but I definitely don't want a 3d Mortal Kombat game. I'm not a fan of 3d Era games either, they felt like Tekken rip offs. Even if another company besides NRS makes a 3d Mortal Kombat, I'll still probably pass on it because I'm just not into that style for this game.

My brother brought it within the 1st week or 2 of its launch, and i watched him play and i just knew something about it rubbed me the wrong way. I actually kind of liked for the most part mk11. I played cetrion and brutality(ed) someone with the flying boulder and that was the coolest shit i did in a game visually...it is a shame because for them to come back their gonna have to show some serious commitment and improvement.

The MK community which I absolutely love has become the new COD community COD has been down since 2019 and just like MW2019 COD2022 and MW32024 the devs don’t listen they don’t care some do and some are really good people which I am sure the same exists at NRS the problem is you have a game which is ok but with SF6 and T8 having so much more content and those games excel whereas MK1 is a dumpster fire and the anytime a new Kameo becomes available the meta changes whether it’s Lao hat or Stryker or now khameleon and next will be Janet cage with horrible netcode and basic kombos with gaps in the strings and we ask for buffs and we get nothing just like we asked for MW2019 for an overhaul with dead silence being a perk and we got crickets … NRS will go down in flames if they don’t listen to the community at this point because instead of being the vocal minority we need to be the vocal majority and maybe they will listen

The most popular and watched FGC content creator, someone whose especially been known as a diehard and the face for Marvel vs capcom wasn’t allowed to voice his concerns or even stuff he liked about these games and capcom without the tribalistic mongrels giving him a hard time about it.
Hell he made his own views know how he didn’t vibe with MK11 and how MK1 is better but still has a whole new set of problems that still keeps these games away from being as great as MK used to be. Are we going to keep accusing that guy of being on the hate train? Is he gonna get blacklisted by Boon and his Goon squad like Pig?
