The Community Is Beginning To Turn On Tekken 8

- The honeymoon phase is well and truly over and we are now starting to see the cracks in what was believed to be impenetrable armour. Tekken 8's dumbing down and forcing of 50/50 situation has rubbed the community the wrong way, and the community is starting to speak out.

Not even NRS banned modders, feels like all that praise that we gave Namco is about to be shoved right back in our faces.
Yeah but capcom did
Mods arent something they need to allow.
@@ReplacedByTheEU why?, mods are just cosmetics
@omegadeepblue1407 because they 1. Don't want to see their characters used in a certain way. Nude mods, body changing etc.
2. They are selling cosmetics now.
That's why u don't glaze companies
Doesn't matter how a character is designed if every general mechanic is skewed towards hyper aggression.
Heat definitely needs to be adjusted. The raw heat activation attack is a power crush, plus on block/hit, freezes screen, and on top of that you can’t even step them. It’s pretty much the same for the heat burst or whatever it’s called. Most of the rounds come down to who can abuse or manage heat better, & that’s not Tekken IMO.
i personally like it for the time being, with how oppressive offense is in general. a time freeze is quite nice and its just as scary as blocking a jab because its only plus 1 on block and +2 on hit. so its easy to disrespect the plus frames
@@ChildishBrandino. I guess I'm in the same boat as you. The game feels good but you just need to be able to hyper focus way more. Most players haven't played for +20 years and this game has so many moves for people to understand.
@@ChildishBrandino. you can sidestep jabs. Jabs also can’t power crush through plus frames as a panic button.
Perfectly said with and even better final statement.
@@ChildishBrandino. what do you mean? Heat is + 17 on block, or where you talking about certain jabs? 😂
You either die a Dusty Rhodes or live long enough to become a Ric Flair. Love the game but even as a console player I'm mad for the modding community.
So become a revered legend that almost every wrestler worth something puts on their Mount Rushmore of all time greats?
I see alot of players have no self awareness on this issue. The issue of player expression or easier mechanics is not a dev issue. One should expect the mechanics of anything to be easier as time goes on and the reason you dont get as much player expression today is because of how quickly we can exchange tactics and tech through social media. The pro players are the ones who dictate the meta in these games not the casual. So once the meta for all the characters has been discovered its the pro players calling for nerfs and buffs because now the game is stale. If character expression was truly valued why do we always immediately call for nerfs for any character that may have more tools than another?
I couldnt have said it any better, perfect response. Dont get me wrong i do agree and think that tekken 8 is very mash friendly but its not IMPOSSIBLE to get around lol the games been out 2 months we will find ways around it eventually. Give the devs a break. I dont have a problem with the heat system and i hope they leave it as is.
Valid points indeed.
Exactly
terrible argument, the nerfs are not for skill expressive characters, theyre for dumb easy to play top tier characters that are extremely strong compared to the rest of the cast, the complains are about the whole game being easier and rewarding scrub behavior instead of skill
@@inksword6029surely you could reach max rank with these ‘scrubby behaviors’ right? Because if you actually played some decent in this game, they would blow right through your flowchart.
This. This video is the one that explains why I’ve been frustrated with this game. I couldn’t put it into words before but this is the one. Thanks, Mike. ✌🏾😁
There are some things going on with activating ultimates and using heat that I do feel if finally ironed out within the player base will become extremely easy and cheesy and will become the most common forms of playstyle/tactics
(Feng main here) Feng's heat is an all in one panic/guaranteed mixup button from any distance or setup. I still remember labbing some new BnB's in S4 in T7 and discovering I could do 75 damage with 2 buttons
If you'd have asked me if I would have forseen this hard of a downfall in namco's reputation and the reception around Tekken 8 as a whole, I would say hell no. 2 months ago, game looked healthy at launch, weathered an initial server shitstorm issue (that they handled well) and shit was looking UP!
Now? Namco has spedrun their reputation into the toilet, pluggen 8 is impossible to play in ranked unless you get the ungodly luck to not run into cheaters, they are striking down community channels and tournaments are overwhelmingly Azucena, Drag and Devil Jin.
If you cannot address the pluggers than can you at least TELL us WHAT you are going to do?
After 11 years of me personally supporting their product, some people for far longer, you would think that at this time we would at least want a clear communication with the dev team as to what they actually acknowledge with in terms of the games balance at the VERY least.
Serves me right for having a touch of optimism in the year 2024.
As someone who played Strive when it came out I understand where you are coming from with the problems in T8, and based on my experience with Strive, I don't believe T8 season 2 will have the changes you want, at the very least not to the extent you desire. The system problems you and others have specified seems done on a fundamental level so they aren't likely to change a lot since it would go against their philosophy for this game. Hopefully, I am wrong.
Classic case Bamco didn't get their eggs together, get your game dropped
Imagine if heat had multiple styles, which one of those you can choose in character loadaout.
For example OG heat - Rushdown
New heat style - defense, heat smash/heat burst etc would do different things than og heat system.
So you could mix and match the character with the heat style.
cool idea but super complicated for an already difficult game (although I'm not against them throwing hardcore players a bone for once) and would be a nightmare to balance for every existing character. it's been 2 months, we don't need to completely reinvent a core mechanic this soon.
Street Fighter 6 can be played defensively. Drive Perry works great, block, and perfect Perry. It’s the best balanced fighter I’ve ever played in a while.

@M3TALG0DS yeah I heard it was supposed to be Injustice 3. But I know some fans were saying that Boon released the game so it could be competition for Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 well that was a big mistake
@@jenn5628 personally I prefer injustice as the spinoff fighter over like Soul calibur or MVC. It’s more polished. But idk why they would do that. Injustice 2 gave tekken 7 competition quite a bit considering T7 tried so hard to be MK11. Yes it was great but yeah the whole marketing lol

Incoming patch in TWO WEEKS to character balance, (Azucena's running 3,2 is OVER), fix bugs, and correct the displayed disconnect rate so you can back out of accepting a match when an opponent has an 12% disconnect rate.
HEAT IS GARBAGE. Nobody that plays Tekken as a serious hobbyist, Vet or Pro wants their punish, evasion, setup that they RIGHTFULLY COMITTED STOLEN FROM THEM!!! This is because of CROSSPLAY. Two TOTALLY DIFFERENT PLAYER GROUPS THAT HAVE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT GOALS ARE PLAYING TOGETHER. THIS IS THE PROBLEM.
HEAT AND BROKEN CHARACTERS were created AS A CRUTCH TO HELP CASUAL PLAYERS AND SCRUBS SURVIVE IN MATCHES WITH VETS, PROS HOBBYISTS AND CHARACTER SPECIALISTS!!!
I predicted this too - I only train up punishes now - I DON'T EVEN REALLY PLAY ANYMORE. CH throws break windows being damn near halved? HORSESH1T!!! Well, at least the patch will fix this, but they need to REMOVE HEAT!!!!!!

I believe it’s because there was a modder that had Jun’s original outfit before the tekken shop dropped. So I think Namco sees modding as way of people getting stuff for free from the tekken shop. Kinda scummy of them tbh.
Tekken shop should not exist or just use ingame currency.
Microtransaction should have never existed in the first place.
@@kintsuki99 agreed
Nah they are striking YT channels and modders for any costumes. Even if they are not from Tekken games.
Really scummy considering how they waited for the game to be rated positive and then dropped the tekken shop after that
Haradas logic for Tekken 8 makes no sense . He claimed they wanted agression because of players timing out in evo . Then he turns around and says he doesn’t make the game for the pros , he makes it for the casuals. But he made the whole aggressive push after watching the pros! 😂😂 make it make sense man.
There's no logic to Harada's theory.
The aggressive push is for the people WATCHING the pros, not the pros.
yea
My view on it - the pros had a huge influence on how the player base enjoyed the game. The overly-safe style of the pros became the face of the game, and the face of the game looked boring af to ppl who weren't already on the Ranked train.
@aymnno6734 But competitively, the game isn't appealing. Top tier domination and the heat mechanic makes the pace/aggression of the game incredibly hard to follow and hard to commentate.
The cracks are starting to form. The honeymoon phase is over and the game’s flaws are starting to become more apparent, which can be said about any new game that comes out.
Overall I think Tekken 8 is good despite its issues, but I can see how certain mechanics in the game and how Bandai Namco is handling some things so far are turning people off.
Happened with tekken7, you like it you stay, you dont like it you leave! Bamco doesnt build the game for arslan ash, they build it for everyone

Cheaters who do things like putting on auto block, lag switching or slowing the game down via other methods, they should be banned. Pluggers should just lose their points, and the points should go to their opponents who were plugged on. Let's keep it simple.
Thank you for saying this because I've played against three pc players that would slow down the game making it lag. Not allowing me to fight at all and would just keep attacking my character repeatedly to get quick wins.
You muste be such s weak-minded person to use cheats or lag switch in fighting games, like even if you win you know it wasnt cause youre good. How is that fun, I rather lose legit then use cheats or shit.
Happened to me several times. I didn't know why it would be so laggy when the connection was supposed to be alright. Next time it happens I will report those cheaters.

Im not even shocked by any of this tbf. If you recall, a few years ago Murray made that stupid "JUST BLOCK THE HELLSWEEP" tweet when they gave them more tracking for a week. After we knew he would have a bigger role in Tekken 8s development, it became clear what his idea of Tekken should be. JUST GUESS RIGHT LOL.
uhhh, tekken has always come down to just guess right for most of the playerbase (not talking about pro level). Its like the very core of RPS style approach which fighting games have utilized for years. Like this isn't some damn revelation.
@@raptorate2872 YOU SAID IT RIGHT...MOST PPL JUST GUESS, AND NOW ITS EVOLVED THAT THE PROS HAVE TO GUESS MORE AND THATS WHY THEYRE PISSED. IT CLOSES THE GAP ON A GAP THAT HAS A MASSIVE GAP BETWEEN ROOKIE AND PRO

@@raptorate2872 the fact that most casuals play braindead doesn't excuse taking out the depth of the game at all. I was never higher than fujin in T7 with multiple characters but I enjoyed the fact that the game allowed me to play defensively and it was a viable option, especially if I didn't know the matchup. i'd much rather fail 8 sidesteps out of 10 because I am bad and I need to improve than not have a sidestep as a viable option at all and eat the RPS

Tekken honeymoon fell when peak mk1 frustration was going on. Now the honeymoon phase is over and the frustrations are across all games. Fighting games as a whole needs to do better
Fighting games are doing great now, the post-honeymoon rambling is just inherent to the genre. I remember people throwing fists over "broken mechanics" way back in SF4 and Tekken 6 era.
@@JennyTheNerdBat No, they aren't. And the post-honeymoon rambling isn't inherent in any genre, it's just that the problems in this game didn't rear their ugly heads straight away & people hadn't studied the game that much. Personally speaking, I always hated Tekken 7 & always loved Tag 2. Haven't ever had a 'honeymoon' period with any game where I liked it at 1st & then 2 months later decided I didn't for no reason.
Outside of Tekken, SF World Tour is boring grind & so is M1K's Invasions. Fighting games aren't anywhere near as good as they used to be because they focus so hard on being E-sports instead of fun games so much so that they almost feel like a job. Compare SF4 arcade mode to SF6's. 4 had 3D animated cutscenes for rival characters & 2D animated endings whereas 6 just has slide shows. MK9's offerings included Challenge Tower, a actual krypt with worthwhile stuff in it & a tag team mode so that you can play with a less experienced player. While M1K just has Invasion. The gameplay could be the best the series has ever known but if there's nothing else to do other than rank up online, which as I said, feels like a job ("I can't go a day without playing because I'll get rusty!"), the end product suffers for it.
Sure, Tekken 8 has Tekken Ball & SF6 has party mode which are steps in the right direction but they still lack a lot of offline content that will later be sold as DLC despite the fact that the base game costs more than older games which had more offline content built in.
I hated the scapegoat for NRS. Believe me, they deserve criticism. But funny how SF6 and T8 fans got quiet when they're games implemented the same trash monetization 😂

It's always like this, corporations don't act on hype. Oh Tekken 8 is booming? Let's make the wrong moves. Like what the fuck, SURELY they have people around them that have a "link" in to the community? Finally we got casuals going hard in Tekken, they are going to lose them if they don't act soon. Like you said in other videos, some of these casuals will be a part of the FGC, let's not lose them... C'mon Bamco...
Ngl, if anything is gonna turn away the casuals, it'll be FGC Twitter more than anything
From what I can remember after watching Max’s stream during that Tekken stream two days ago, he mentions how casuals care more about the “feeling” of winning rather than have the drive of improvement, which, leads to disconnecting from ranked where nobody wins the points. Leading to Max also wanting one and done players going to federal prison 😂 Which is a joke, of course.
Anyway, the reason why I made my point is only because casuals are not necessarily “going hard” in the game, otherwise they aren’t casuals, but mid core players at least. If anything, I am a casual at Tekken and play it every now and then, but this is also because there is no character that is compelling for me to play.
As someone who started really getting good in this game (like i finally did my first of many ewgfs in t8) but has played every game in the series. I'm actually really looking forward to going to tournamants😊. Some of ya'll are wWild
@@NemesisUmbral That's exactly the paradox dividing the player demograph, unfortunate as it is. Veterans and Old players VS Casuals and Newbies.
Old timers want to be rewarded for their time invested and skills earned in the game & Casuals want to be rewarded with a quick shot of dopamine and a stress-free pastime for their money spent.
Unfortunately, many companies and now also Bamco evidently, thinks you have to sacrifice one demographic for the other. Making the game easier and lowering the skill average is just one symptom of it. They are also shoving in costume MTX and already existing in-game stuff as DLC because new players don't know any better and think that's the norm, meaning they are more willing to pay and shell out cash for hilarious standards that the old timers know better than to do.
There's a million people on the planet working 9-5 jobs, 6 days a week, that can churn out the same quality of costumes in a week in their free time, but Bamco wants you to pay unfair amounts for it.
Yeah no. Gimme a stage, a character, maybe a new story or offline mode, something that requires actual work and effort to make and I'll happily pay you for it. 4$ for a costume in a game with shit customization not to mention the predatory 'always extra, always short' currency packaging that they are doing on top of that.....

Im having fun, just reached Orange, first Tekken game in years, came from street fighter 6 which is also fun. It may have its flaws but a fighter naturally has adjusments over time, some stuff is more annoying than others (heat moves for example) but I believe that developers need time to discover HOW people PLAY the game, and come up with exploits or advantages by - you know- playing the game, then apply fixes and such, just try to enjoy, we all get salty, just dont make the game be all about the bad times
Nice!
Well someone is not a raging 12 year old. Sheesh... You dont belong here with your measured and reasonable response.
The bug you showed at the end that only happens in practice mode when the characters are reset in a particular way
honestly, it reminds me of some T4 bugs.
*They* did to Tekken what Arc System Works did to Guilty Gear with Strive: Made a game *heavily* focused on people that are afraid of traditional fighting games.
*Arcsys quote* - "We want less experienced players to feel the thrill of victory that veteran players have been enjoying for so long. Our new direction allows players to see results without any need of the train mode. High damage and big momentum swings will be used to achieve this".
Source: Arc System Works Guilty Gear Strive Developer's backyard blog #4
Wild momentum swings (like the blue shell in Mario Kart) is the current popular fighting game design choice along with restricted movement (Strive's air-dashing and shorter stages horizontally) and the simplifying of techniques (air blocking in Strive doesn't require tension meter anymore).
I'm so glad the new Under-Night is still intact.
I keep telling everyone, UNI2's PC Port getting fixed, combined with everything that Shamdai Scamco has been doing to the fanbase, such as banning modders instead of pluggers and cheaters, and adding pointless microtransactions, is proving that French Bread are more competent developers than Shamdai Scamco. And yet NO ONE LISTENS. How?! The writing is on the wall, UNI2 is proving that they can improve themselves and Bamco is proving that they are greedy pigs who can't make a good game if their lives depended on it. UNI2 is the last standing bastion of good, complex, ArcSys fighting games, and the only good fighting game in general that doesn't make every single mistake that SF6, T8, and MK1 are making, namely, greedy microtransactions, a good balance of complex and flashy gameplay instead of leaning towards soulless flashy gameplay. Tekken 8 is the game you call a good game that isn't a $60 yearly release fandom abusing game, and UNI 2 is the game people say they don't care about and deem the "$60 yearly release fandom abusing game". Guess what matches the description of $60 yearly release fandom abusing game?
All I know is that the real $60 yearly release fandom abusing game isn’t even called Under Night In Birth II: sys: celes. It’s called Tekken 8.
I love the game itself but holy crap the higher ups are insufferable. How to fix all of this:
-Give pluggers a loss
-put in a competent anticheat
-allow mods
Yup that's all, any other complaints is just for noobs, Tekken 8 input is easier than 7 yet they still complain

I like how pluggers are being matched against them and just being banned. That's good enough for me, giving them the loss would be a nice bit of icing on top.
fighting games in general seem to be moving to a type of defense that is human incompatible in an attempt to create more random outcomes. whether it be deejay drive rush and drive impact, guilty gears 2 frame throw break window etc., or tekkens inescapable stance mix ups/heat stuff all of these things are for the most part an unavoidable mechanic in the game but honestly all this stuff loses to the same thing. which is raw reaction speed its no longer about labbing where to step or duck or whatever its about training your brain and overdosing on caffeine to see the low full combo sweep in slow motion and react to it. and as a human youre just not going to have pure reactions like that 24/7 lmao
Agreed . Trying to block highs and lows that are flying at me at rapid speed is nearly IMPOSSIBLE, add heat smash to the mix and random high launchers it’s enough to make anybody’s brain melt .
All that yapping to say you're old and can't keep up.
I'm glad I am not alone. I feel the same way. I keep seeing players saying react to this or that like that, but damn...at this speed? Are they being serious? Even if some come, makes one wonder who they tailor these games for.
@@alekid I keep thinking I just suck at 8 but when I go into 7 or 6 my timing for block is good and I’m able to see what my opponent is doing and what their next move will be. With 8 my defence absolutely STINKS, I can block just fine but when random lows and highs are being whipped around at rapid speed I’m just left confused, and end up in this blender of a string . Even if I try my punishers while my opponent is hitting highs it gives my opponent the right away, it’s all about quick timing for punishers which seems humanly impossible, I can sometimes hit it if I smash my buttons real quick but I’m left just guessing where I should block and am gripping my side stick for DEAR LIFE .
Tekken 8 is fun. But I have never been THIS FRUSTRATED with Tekken. It feels like im playing MKX. Constant 50/50's with no options to deal with it. Heat engagers being +17 on block is NUTS. Every character has + frames out the wazoo. Hwoarangs power crushes being -12, instead of -13 like they were in Tekken 7 is bull crap. Bryan can kill you with 2 pokes, and 1 combo. Bears spamming electrics in heat with no real counter play that i can find. Azucena WR 3,2 being +5 when it should only be +1 or 2. The game is just TOO much. Which sucks cause the combo system is better than 7. The heat engagers ARE cool but they ARE broken. I actually like chip damage (thats a hot take though so....). I like the tornado spins. The characters are more interesting. Also, inputs genuinely seem....odd? they dont seem to read right. I dont have any evidence for that but i think its true. I miss Tekken 7. Which is truly a shame because Tekken 7 left in a garbage state where every character was bland and was not interesting. But id rather have what tekken 7 was than have this 50/50 non stop stuff.

Fighting games are great to break that monotony every once in a while, for variety or spice in life. But it's kinda boring if everyone just plays like what I call a Mileena.
They could just make some characters leaning more towards to being hyper aggressive and just reward(like $100 or smthn) to esport players for playing hyper aggressive playstyles. While not affecting unrelated people who don't care about the money or playing aggressive playstyles.
This is what's happening in League, some characters are intentionally weaker than designed cause they're OP in esports like Azir, Aphelios, Zeri. But gobsmacked has lower average winrates compared to other characters in average human play.

That exactly and some triggers were not viable while others were ridiculous.
Such is the fate of every fighting game.
And in the case of Tekken, Harada seems to be taking a lot of advantage on the fact he is a respected and charismatic celebrity in the whole fgc, and after the departure of Ono the genre doesn't have any other game maker that really stands out in public appearances.
And the fact that Tekken became the "Smash Bros" of 3d fgs, in the sense that it's surrounded by 3d fgs that are too much below it in almost every aspect... So it's not that alternatives don't exist, but they aren't rivals in practical terms, they are too inferior to even be qualified to be rivals of Tekken. In the early 00s the 3d fg scene was rich and competitive, and even DOA was still respectable and contributing with innovations to the genre. TK vs VF vs SC vs DOA. And SC was in a very strong shape around SC2. But now there's no competition, no pressure on Tekken... And that also means there's nowhere else to go in 3d. Like, when MvC messed up last time with MVCI, that motivated people to get into DBFZ, and when people got tired of SF5 they could try GGST. But Tekken, like Smash Bros, more or less monopolize their field.
I agree with all this heavily. I come from the sf6 side of things and we just got a new character recently (Ed) and he’s so fun and interesting but he’s not viable because he’s not able to play the no brain offense game like all the best characters can.

The prices are getting higher... the content package usually doesn't get bigger than in the games from the PS2 or PS3 gens, which were made in tighter schedule and with limited technology and much limited memory capacity... The initial rosters usually are not bigger than in those past gens... There are very early dlc releases, which of course didn't exist in the game back then...
And most dlc packs exploit the nostalgia of veterans, because the company knows they aren't able to sell their new ideas very well so the dlc is 80-90% popular veterans and 10-20% newcomer generally. Most fgs reached a creativity crisis point where it's been harder to make new chars who are as solid as the best veterans, so saving important veterans for dlc is vital for their strategy of exploiting the old fans and maximizing profits like crazy. In the old times there was a streak of creative brilliance in the industry and the devs were making a lot of good new chars back to back, but nowadays it's been many more "miss" than "hit". So the long term dlc plans is a strategy that strictly depends on exploiting the nostalgia behind those old ideas (chars), because they are not competent to make like a dlc pack of only newcomers that feel appealing. No fg company does that and ever will.
And these horribly predatory practices are the meta of fg making, everyone does that. The companies just slowly warmed up their community slowly untill they become extra receptive to accept these things, that only get worse in literally every sequel in every game. The greed only gets worse, and is actually turning fgs into a much more expensive genre, because you might skip cosmetics but you will need to pay for the waves of dlc chars for years to get the full roster, which is important for the fg experience... It's raising the total spendings on fgs higher than in the times they released full priced updates... And still that's even defended. The fanboys of all communities act like these franchises are on the brink of bankruptcy if they don't have very early dlc char releases, if there's no micro transactions, if SF doesn't charge $100 for a pack of costumes for a small roster game, etc.

The biggest problem with Heat is too many options are safe. The fact you can block a heat smash and it's still not your turn is dumb. They don't know how meters and supers are suppose to work in fighting games. I hope they look at 2D games to balance heat appropriately.
Usually, supers are basically death on block.
This, so much it's such BS to block it effectively only to still be on the losing side.
1. No heat = No Chip damage
2. No free heat bars, You need to build it by landing attacks. + option to keep it for next round.
3. No full launch heat dashes.
4. No homing throws.
5. Rage arts should be -20
6. All Low heat smash should be launch punishable.
Lmao, so you are gonna make the game back to Tekken 7.5..... Victor has a low heat smash because all his lows are terrible...... If you don't have homing throws then there is literally no way to catch side stepping characters because half the roster have terrible homing moves

However now those same people are starting to see what we were all trying to say from the beginning.
For me the heat system (and the buffs to rage arts.) have turned this game into an anime fighter, and not Tekken. Honestly if Tekken 7 had Tekken 8's netcode, and sidestepping. I would not have bothered getting Tekken 8. (Tekken 7 is not even my favourite Tekken, but it has my main Eliza, and better netcode than 6 lol).
As an enjoyer of Tekken since T2, I just think there is SOMETHING about T8 that is just whack. Something about the theming and the focus on more over the top shit. It’s more of a departure from what Tekken used to be than most people right now realize.
do you hear that? it's the distant echo of 2001. "Tekken 4 is all wrong, they've departed from the past games in favor of realism. I already miss Tekken 7- I mean, Tekken Tag Tournament." It's called adapting to the times, for better or worse.

The same dumbing down of unique fighting styles has happened in Street Fighter 6 as well. What happened to being an execution god in fighting games. I want to feel like i love fighting games still but these new releases haven't been living up to my expectations lately.
The Melee community really received a blessing in disguise, when every sequel that follows it has been anti-competitive by design, it just keeps bringing people back to their game (although Nintendo has been trying to snuff out that scene for years, they just can't finish the job). "just play the old games" doesn't really work on the current crop of FGs even though it ought to.
That's kinda praising NRS fighting games maybe except MKX. Because it has different fighting styles. Sure, some styles are lame and OP (zoning spam), some weaker. But overall you have an option to choose your style of gameplay. You can do zoning type gameplay, mix up type of gameplay, aggressive type of gameplay, all styles combined in one. While Tekken has only rush aggressive style gameplay which is not bad but hell, keep at least defend style of gameplay. Most certainly it will become boring.

Also Ranked: +/-2 minimum, best I got.

My main concern is the way they might be dishing out bans. From statements it seems like if a person has enough reports against them ingame they get banned. What stops people from getting salty and reporting anyways?
All this push towards aggression and combos is the same mentality that has ruined sports like basketball and hockey. Eventually, this game will degenerate into a scrubby mess. A pretty mess, but still a mess.

@@HELLRAISER02 I can only comment on Basketball but the jist is that over the past 10-15 years changes have been made which favor offense and big scoring over defensive play. These changes were made mostly because the NBA believed higher scoring was more exciting for the average viewer.
Defensive fouls for handchecking(keeping a hand on a defender while they dribble the ball) were introduced which allowed more freedom for the offensive player to move across the court.
Softer defensive fouls in general are called leading to more free throws and points and heavily disincentivizing tough defensive play.
Offensive players were called much less for violations like traveling(taking 3 steps without dribbling the ball) again leading to and easier time scoring.
Changes like those compounded with general optimization on how the game is played(teams found that shooting more 3s[a lower percentage shot] and very close 2s[very high percentage] was a more efficient way to score than shooting mid ranged 2s) have lead to a league where pretty much every team plays the same way. There is very little variation in team style.
It all makes for a slightly more exciting viewing experience yes, but a bit of the essence of the sport has been lost.
@@HELLRAISER02
I know for Basketball, the current meta has become long range snipers. Nobody plays defense because you can just quickly pass the ball to someone and they shoot for a free long 2 or 3. Not sure about hockey.
@@HELLRAISER02 in hockey, they changed a lot of the layout of the ice to increase the attack area and reduce the neutral area. If you don't know hockey, it's sort of hard to explain. Nah Tekken 8's is so boring with heat. And the roster choices are meh.
Stop bs. Has problems but different. MK's problem mostly were updates and boring ass Invasion mod. Tekken has entirely gameplay problem, which this video was about. It's harder to fix that. NRS just lazy as fuck. Tekken devs at least doing something, but they need to fix many things. Both griddy, btw.
As a bear main, the matchup vs everyone is exclusively to get heat off ASAP so you actually get some safe options in ewgf and faster roll, once you're in you can win the round in two interactions just like everyone else.
Heat makes the Identity of a character who's whole schpiel is to slowly chip with goofy moves and condition your enemy into making a mistake with your varied but unsafe moveset; into using nothing but your best options and closing out rounds as fast as possible because the entire cast can rush you down with their vastly superior options at all times.
All it takes to beat a bear is using an armour move when they poke with something unsafe trying to catch you and win the 50/50 when you run in after the fact.
I cant bare it anymore
(continues to bear it)
I've been in Tekken since Tekken 2 and it used to be more technical, until juggles came. They tried a lot of stuff, like the new walls system in Tekken 4, which was too much, since it also had obstacles within the fighting area and made it really tedious to have a decent match (I still remember that phone booth in the airport area), so they got rid of them (thankfully) in Tekken 5 and only kept the walls. At last Tekken had some drops of realism, since you didn't fight in an endless space. But then, instead of going for even more realism, it was like they literally said "we want to ruin Tekken once and for all". Everyone started having auras, flashes, whatever and they instroduced juggle combos. So Tekken went from being technical to who will master the longest possible combo, to keep their opponent in the air for longer, so they literally destroy them, without them having a single chance to fight back. I mean now, with Tekken 8, it has reached a point were literally all my opponents online, the only thing they try to do, is launch me into the air. That's the ONLY thing they try to do. Why? To do ANOTHER juggle combo. I feel like a ragdoll being tossed around for the duration of the match. I could literally put my controller down for as long as the juggle combo lasts, go for a leak, have some lunch, since I CAN'T FUCKING CONTROL MY CHARACTER IN A FUCKING FIGHTING GAME, BECAUSE HE'S AT THE MERCY OF THE OPPONENT. It's frustating even thinking about it. And that was not enough. With the introduction of rage arts in Tekken 7, you just press a button and your character fights on their own for a while. SO WHY THE FUCK AM I HERE, HOLDING A FUCKING CONTROLLER IN MY HANDS? To sit back and watch a cut-scene MID-FIGHT? Years ago, every fighting game had a character. "when he is in heat, he has a super good ground pound"
I vote this for one of the best fighting game related quotes ever
In other games, installs (I see heat as a generic install for all characters) takes some finesse to get into. If its blocked (unless its used to armor/invul through moves), it at the very best, should land you back to neutral. And in those games, there is usually a "parry" or "reversal" that rewards good reads for when the opponent wants to install.
In this game, even if you are 100% sure someone is going into heat, your option is to throw or go low. Thats only if you are close enough and have the plus frames to do it, and only if you press your move before they press heat. Why is that? Heat shouldn't be free in neutral. Heck, make it so its punishable with Rage Art if someone dare pop it on neutral.
You can in fact, punish heat on reaction, it doesn't need to be prediction
Rage art will also punish it if you trade since they won't be able to block in time
Rage art only work if you press it right before they go into the "zoom in" camera. If you try pressing rage art during or after that it can be blocked. I specifically tested this.
This is one of the most stupid takes I have ever seen.
Here is the problem,
You can't both play a stupid style of tekken then go and complain about it. You are literally the problem you are complaining about.
A lot of people in the community know me but in case you don't let me introduce myself, I am the guy who makes impossible looking combos and knows about this game more than developers (yes its a bold statement but it is true)
I told people that once the honeymoon period was over this game was gonna die 9 months ago. Here is the problem people like you, beginners and developers don't understand. Defence in a gaming terminology is about options AND skill. If you remove defensive options it turns into a gambling game because you removed nuance, if you increase the skill for defence or make it so that nobody can have it then you practically remove defence from the game.
There are consequences to both of these and they were apparent from the first public test of this game.
1) Movement is severely nerfed
2) Hit boxes are significantly increased to absurd degrees
3) Punishment was significantly nerfed.
4) Getting back your turn with movement as an option was removed.
What does the above mean. Well let me give you a simple case. Historically the weakness of feng has been his weakness to side step. What happens if you increase the hitboxes so that required side step is much much harder? Well character becomes crazy strong. What happens if you increase the hitboxes of hellsweep for mishimas? Season 4 Heihachi happens a character so aggressively oppressive in online that any mishima player regardless of skill level could get tgp with him because the way you deal with him is not possible with the amount of delay online has.
Well lets get back to the constructive part. How to make a good tekken game.
1) Remove string based reaction speed tests from the game. They are unhealthy and alienating new players.
2) Improve online connection speed globally.
3) Make side steps bigger.
4) Remove throws at least from online. They don't work in online. They are either too easy to break in good connection or impossible to break in average connection.
5) There shouldn't be any move that gives + frame on block from a mid. Only high moves should have that property.
6) Standardize certain things like magic 4 and df1.
Thats it hell you can make this with bad graphics like tekken 1 graphics and it would still be a hit.
Tekken 8 is perfect. Just go outside chill out. Your 8000 hours in Tekken 8 will still be beaten by some dude with 60 hours
Heat could've been an okay thing if it was impletented better. The way it works now is just too much. It literally just stops the game twice every round, raw activation has armor, infinite reach and does chip damage. Oh, and heat engagers recover up to half of your health bar, because why the fuck not. It's like a rock-paper-scissors game, where everyone's option is the rock, and the one who shakes their hand harder wins. I think if heat worked like rage drives in T7, it would've been way better. Like, you just pop the thing, if it hits - great, if not, you still get some plus frames, and the round goes on. No dumb crap like pausing the game for two seconds, armor or health recovery.
I’m life long tekken fan I’m 37 years old and I’ve stopped playng t8 month ago. It’s impossible to play, everyone just mashing furiously on my face and when I finally win something they ragequit… my life as Bryan main is difficult enough in this game and even when I win I lose, it’s not fun man

Tekken 8 is following the same steps and mistakes as MK1, losing players very quick, very unfun frustrating game, terrible greedy decisions all around, but fanboys will stay coping
i love hwoarang and heat and reina and heat as well its so much fun sometimes i consider going back to MK .....and thats not good...
If we’re complaining already in season 1 I can only imagine the bs that’s to come in the later seasons…
Nothing will change. people complaining the most play the game for 10 hours a day.
The only people who will remain to play the game in some months are those people.... And now they make everything they can to make them hate the game...
There’s a good reason why even at mighty ruler and above, players are still just pressing buttons. Heat damage needs to scale more. I catch someone with a good launcher with Lars, and add some stage mechanics, And I’ll nearly TOD you. In large part because that heat follow up mid combo that’ll get you another tackle or strong finisher to your combo which always hurts.
But yeah. Heat is doing too much. Especially on characters like King.
It needs a Stone Cold shaking hands with Vince level heel turn.
I've been winning with Feng without proper combos or heat so he's definitely strong lmao. I think my problem with heat is it gives people unearned pressure, in most fighting games I like to go against the power mechanic. When rage was introduced in Tekken 6 and I would watch the Korean, Japanese & sometimes Chinese channels I noticed as soon as the opponent got rage the attacker would back off. I never backed off from rage because in my mind you still have to earn your come back. I'm not going to give you space because you have more damage, you still need to hit me and make a full come back. In Tekken 8, heat does not allow this. Someone pops heat, they are in my face and I can do nothing. I got hit with a Jun heat smash from half screen yesterday and for the first time since getting this game (I've been playing very casually and not caring about winning/losing) I got pissed. Had to calm myself down lmao.
And Bamco deserves the backlash, they ignored the rage quitters for months but they were really quickly to introduce the garbage "Tekken shop" which is nothing but a vulgar micro-transaction measure.
Now they are banning modders because Bamco sees them as a threat to their cash cow "shop",they are making the same big mistake that Crapcom did by making modders their enemy a few months back.
Honestly. They should just introduce a classic Tekken mode, where they remove all the crappy mechanics and it’s strictly classic Tekken. No rage, no rage arts, no heat, no juggles. How much you want to bet the bulk of the Tekken community would gravitate to that mode over the standard Tekken 8 mode? They’ll gravitate to that mode so fast, that the normal heat gameplay will just become a Barron wasteland for newbs. A lane where normies just try their training wheels before they want to graduate to true Tekken combat and try the classic mode.
It’ll be a lot of work trying to balance and manage two Seperate modes, one with many mechanics and one without but it’s certainly possible. Both casuals and hardcore Tekken fans will be happy.
18:36 even though the game is eating "peach" they still made the "mangos" jiggle
