The Playerbase Is Leaving Tekken 8

  • Tekken 8 is in a rough spot despite the return of its most iconic character. Poor balancing, forced 50/50's, micro-transactions, lack of content over the years and crazy DLC characters are starting to turn people off what was once the most respected fighting game around.

Whilst I'm still enjoying myself more than I'm getting annoyed, I think it's important to be objective about these things rather than shilling for your favourite game. Tekken 8 might be my favourite current fighter but it's not without it's issues and the general consensus shouldn't ignored. That's how you create an echo chamber just because it's the game you're playing.
Edit: I think people think I'm solely talking about myself rather than reflecting the thoughts of players from Twitter 😅😅 oh well. Seems like a good discussion anyway.

I still enjoy this game more than any other at the moment but it's so damn concerning looking at some changes or things they will do to legacy characters for the sake of "easier access". Tekken 8 with a nerfed S tier roster would be a very balanced game however and I think besides the top 5 or so characters being really unfun to play against because of their unfair nature, the game is really enjoyable. Even within S tiers, there can be fun to had. I enjoy the Dragunov matchup but I imagine it's because I play Kazuya. Fighting a Yoshi or Nina feels so suffocating however.

Man, sorry, but I can see that you have a "Tekken 7 blindness". You see, many people lliked T7 on first two seasons so much, they became blind to problems that were already in place and just moved on to T8.
It's NOT the heat system that breaks Tekken. It's a poor balance and favoritism in one. Azucena does not become 50/50 monster in Heat, Yoshi does not get free + frames, Steve does not get crazy range. There are characters that still can be counterplayed even in Heat.
But there are characters that are just absurdly powerful in heat, yes. But you know what? They are also dominating and forcing mixups on you even without Heat. And you know what else? THEY DID THE SAME IN T7! Feng, Jin, Drag... they were already no-brainers in the end of T7 cycle. And so were some other chars, I suppose if you think about it, you'll find them yourself.
So no, it's not a Heat system problem. It's a problem of Bamco not wanting to nerf poster-boys and very popular characters. Because that may hurt merchendise sales. And Bandai makes more profit from merch than from the game itself.

I have spent a lot of time to honing legacy core fundamental Tekken skills in T6 TTT2 and T7, but now any of that goes out the window because of this current system. It really feels like a casino mobile game sometimes. This is not good, it has less depth than T7. T7 had a stimulating environment and subsequent motivation to get better at the game and feel good and proud while doing it, this game gets boring more quickly. Altough it does look and feel very nice, it lacks a lot compared to other titles.

From someone who decided to put some time in a Tekken game it was in Tekken 7 but not on release but after it went on discount and Tekken8 is the first Tekken game i have preordered and put more serious time and focus into and yes, it’s true.
In Tekken 7 i would get destroy 99% of the time, I’m someone that comes from the MK kommunity that play Mortal Kombat games all my life that decided to go in Tekken 7 online rank and i was not competive at all, i did try but i was overwhelmed, destroy. I have experience in fighting games and I’m a competive person in fighting games and most games and in everything i do but yea In Tekken8, I’m doing ok for myself. While in Tekken 7 I didn’t do ok for myself as I hardly won in online rank and even the COM felt difficult, especially the boss fight. Anyway, Well Tekken8 since release I been focus on it in trying improve my skills and rank up.
I’m in assailant rank, tho now I’m getting match up with players that are out of my league that are 6-10 ranks avobe me! Crazy. Been fighting in a row back to back against Mighty ruler and Battle ruler players and i feel like I’m in Tekken 7 ranked lol
. You know because the rank and skill gap from Assailant to Battle ruler is a big gap in the ranks. But y’all not wrong, that in Tekken8 there’s been some changes where new players can have a better experience in learning and playing than the previous games which are very very competive and hard. Tekken8 is also competive, but it’s been water down a bit with the rage art system and what not.

It's just the fact that they brought back the most iconic character and then gave him Stance 5050s, installs, one round win gimmicks, removed, replaced or reworked some of his iconic tools in favor of some really cheap and stupid tools that feels like a spit in the face. Tekken 8 is still very fun to play and I enjoy it but you can't help and think this direction they are going isn't wildly concerning. They are overcasualizing very hard and you can see it with the design of Law and Jin from Tekken 7 to 8. While 7 was no great game either, I think 8 isn't amazing rainbows and sunshine as well. The movement is better but at the cost of strings and certain forced interactions, it feels pretty cheap.

    • @SnowflakeSSQ

I feel even the movement isn't all that great maybe even worse, backdashing in Tekken 7 looks like magic when compared to any sort of movement in Tekken 8. I agree with all of your criticisms of the game, and they're some that I also share even though I find myself still very much enjoying the game. I do think you made an error in looking at Tekken 8's player statistics in a vacuum. If we're going by player statistics and retention and insinuating that Tekken 8 is dying, Tekken 7 never lived at all. That game's playerbase fell off a cliff a month after launch and steadily bled players over its lifetime. By comparison, Tekken 8 is doing far better, even with the bungled gameplay changes. I'm not saying this to negate any criticism, I'm only saying this because it's contextually important.
Also, I have to take things like this with a grain of salt because the Tekken playerbase is extremely fickle and it seems like the game dies and comes back to life every few months.

Funny i got this post as soon as i finished a match. Heihachi is looking like he's about to be shambolic but i WILL play him. Unfortunately, it will be in mirror matches. I had tried to hop back into ranked matches but my goodness, the point distribution is god awful. And if you thought that win quitting was an issue in quick matches, imagine the player that wins by the skin of their teeth with points on the line. I stayed at Tekken King ultimately but i demoted twice. Felt like a waste of time. It wasn't even fun to do either. Camera shenanigans, off axis wall garbage, heat and rage. T7 was a clean balance of rage and classic tekken. Rage arts were odd but good for meeting that tournament hype standard. Now it's overdone. The install characters seems to be the prime design decision for the game. I believe that Fahku had a similar mechanic in T7. It's why I described him as T8 Bruce. I'm going to finish the video, of course, but two minutes in and everything is just true. Heat is doing too much. Fighting the same character over multiple players has me seeing the exact same strings because there are literally no answers to some things. When in doubt, you shouldnt have to power crush or dick jab. You shouldnt have to take damage when defending optimally. My only answer to beating your frames shouldnt be to trade. I've had one too many draws in this game but worse is that I have way too many hit trades. I remember back in the day, if i wanted to see a draw in tekken 3, id have to plan Yoshimitsu hara kiri.
Thank god Sparking Zero will be out soon. I play almost every fighting game so I'm not sweating too much but this gen has the even more casual GG game and casual Tekken. I just want my execution heavy game. It's why I got into a lot of these games. I started playing Mishima in the modern day due to electric execution. I will slave over DBZ, continue to slave over FFXIV, and periodically drop into Tekken. And TTT2 is one of my favorite Tekken games as well. AK and AO team for chef's kiss. Same with Lars and AK. I originally wrote out another comment but I think I was coming at it with the wrong priorities.
Tekken 8, and Tekken 7 in my opinion, leaned away from what made the franchise actually great. I think they are trying too hard to chase what has made other fighting games successful and they have lost the plot so much that they aren't even copying good things anymore, they are just riding trends.
We need to stop overhyping games in general. Hype can be really fun, but it also sets people up for disappointment and Tekken 8 feels like the tail end of what I felt was the most boring era of fighting games between 2015 to 2022. I know some people will disagree with me, but I was never coming from a place of hate when I said that.
The general direction of Tekken and ESPECIALLY Mortal Kombat has just been bad recently
Street Fighter 6 is definitely a return to form, but their microtransactional issues are still worth mentioning. Frankly it feels like Fighting Games poisoned themselves chasing the casual crowd too much and the result of that is a lot of the crap we see and hate in them nowadays whether we're talking Heat mechanics or microtransactions.

I miss when a comeback was a comeback, now its just what it is, you get the other guy down to 20% and STILL you dont feel in control.
Back in T5 you literally had to work your ass of for a comeback, and it made it so much more rewarding.

Just like SF when the drive system was introduced, and MK when the Kameo system was introduced, people are just having a problem adapting. Tekken 7 is still out there (even tho the Internet always been shit with that game. In fact i don't know how many MFs had so much fun playing T7 on the net because the non rollback net code was TRASH) so you can always go back and play that. People seem to have wanted another 6-7 years of Tekken 7. And thats just not realistic. If thats what happened then people would simply complain about the game NOT changing. Its like these companies cant win for losing.
When Tekken 8 was first revealed EVERY BODY loved it. Then they stopped, then they loved it again when the first big patch happened, now they just hating it. It sucks to me because i actually like the game. But this is why i don't invest too much into fighting games. Because the "community" dictates too much. If I play FF7, Horizon, Wukong or whatever its self contained enjoyment. Fighting games pretty much rely on multiple people to stay alive and NOBODY likes ANYTHING long enough to stay optimistic for the bulk of the run. Im over it. And its because i seem to be the only one that likes the game and have faith in the company. My homies dont even care for it. But it IS what it IS. On to Metaphor Fantazio, something only I have to worry about liking. Lol

Sup Mike. Agreed on every point! Additionally, one thing Harada doesnt realize is no matter what he does, fighting games in 2024 with super meters etc and many moves/setups per character, is that it will never be simple enough for casual players to stick around. But BACK IN THE DAY though, it was. Look at sf2 champion edition, and the early mortal kombats. Those were easy to get into as there were a few moves and very easy combos that last 2 seconds max. Casual players would stick around back in the early 90s for fighting games because of that, compared to 2024 where mk sf and tekken have TOO MANY mechanics, mixups, super moves and normal moves to learn hence why most casuals flock to easy shooters. So yeah, fighting games these days will never be simple so Haradas best bet is to cater for his real fan base and let casuals play against other casuals and button bash and have fun amongst themselves. Everyone's happy that way. ✅️
(Fighting games are too time consuming for even me as a tekken king. Learning a new character 'properly' is long enough, let alone a new game like mk1 2023, or even sf6 to a high level is long.)

I've said this before but I mainly played anime fighters before taking Tekken 7 seriously. Having to deal with Akuma wasn't as bad for me cos I'm used to having to hold a block strings, deal with 50/50s on repeat, fast combo starters etc. But taking a step back, I can see why the Tekken community at large hated this shit and Tekken 8 is like a doubling down of sorts. Whilst I enjoy Tekken 8 and mostly brush off the 50/50 stuff, it doesn't feel like how Tekken should be and I 100% understand the frustrations of the community. If you wanted to deal with 50/50s, you'd play Strive, BBCF or UNI. People come to Tekken for the 'slower' neutral based gameplay, with using pokes and movement correctly being rewarded. It's a shame because I feel Tekken 8 at it's core is a great game but heat is ruining the gameplay for so many people

I can only speak for myself with this statement, but as someone who has played Tekken since my childhood (since Tekken 4) I just feel like the magic that was present in the previous games just… isn’t there. I don’t hate the game, in fact I’ve had tons of fun playing the game in short bursts. But whenever I play the game with anybody who isn’t my friends, it’s just frustration and irritation, not because of one of the systems of the game, but the heat mechanic, plus the frustrating ranked system, plus the 90 thousand tier whoring players playing Dragunov just make it such a sour and frustrating experience. I’ve loved Tekken for years, but at this point, I just gotta call a spade a spade, and the spade is that Tekken just isn’t that fun right now. The game isn't in the worst position yet. It's hard to argue since there is a good chunk of negativity surrounding it and little positive to bring up that would keep people invested.
We can talk about how rank is getting an adjustment that has been long asked for, or how some of the costumes are going to start going on sale. The arguement would be either "they should of been free in the first place, or it should of been that way at the start." Which has its place but simply writes off any possible progress that is showing.
We can talk about player accessibility bringing new players possibly but of course this threatens players who already have time invested (keep in mind this is someone who is against modern controls in fighting games but that's another discussion).
We can talk about how the story expansion is free but of course we have those who would point against how it hurts the lore.
Every choice this game has had positive or negative (minus nerfing Drag hopfully) has been met with negativity to an excessive level. It's no suprise Harada is mister "don't ask me for shit."

I'm still having fun with T8. I definitely think Heat and certain characters need some reworks, but I still like playing. I recently picked up Azucena after she got nerfed and I'm having a blast. I understand people not liking Heihachi being a stance focused character though. I think after playing Raven and Asuka and now Azucena for a while, I think more of the characters should be around where maybe they are in terms of power. They have some clear strengths (like Raven's backturn options, Asuka's defensive tools to interrupt offense, or Azucena's long, linear mids) and clear weaknesses (Raven not launching until 16f, Asuka lackluster punishment before 14f, Azucena's very linear buttons outside of stance). Tone done the heat stuff and make some of the hitboxes and frame advantage situations less ridiculous and things will be a lot better. I don't plan on playing any other fighter than T8 and KI any time soon though. Not that they're bad, but I just don't have as much fun with any of the others.

Tekken 4 had mechanics that not many people liked (myself included) and because of that we got Tekken 5 after (my favourite Tekken). We might not be heard, but I believe that with constant feedback and constructive critics, maybe Tekken 8 can eventually get a proper balance that most players can enjoy, pros and casuals alike (you can`t make everyone happy, better aim for the majority). Remember how they changed Steve`s rage drive in T7 Season 2 and added a wall bouncing mechanic, maybe we can expect something like that in the future of Tekken 8.

"The heat system has become Tekken." That sums it up perfectly. I try to play the game more like 7 while using heat and rage arts as part of combos as I can for the sake of fairness, but that's part of the problem. I think the experience changing isn't the worst thing in the world, in that I agree games should continue to evolve, somebody must have said in a meeting, people think that tekken is too hard after seeing Tekken 7. If this continues, fewer people will buy 8, and then people will lose interest in it. They want to innovate, and I can appreciate that. I also think that this desire to attract new players is not a bad thing. However, adding in a 2nd panic forced 50-50 move seems excessive in not judt its execution but in its scaling. Especially since the movesets have been simplified as well. If we can't get rid of it, then the scaling needs an adjustment. An overall damage nerf. I know it's a lot to ask for, and maybe the value would get too low, but then it could be fine-tuned. It would remain as a viable tool that can get you out of a jam, which was what they intended it to be, and no longer a crutch. At present, this crutch does 50% of the work in any given match, a two button press catch all. Heat dash was clearly created to help players appreciate the scale of the stages in a match, it's like how the infinite stages used to feel in the older games. I actually like stances. In fact, I wish the transitions into them were faster. On the flipside, I think some moves for stances should be buffed/nerfed. But that's a different matter for a different day.

I couldn't get 7 due to financial reasons, and now that I got 8. I enjoy it. The problem is I still get connection does not meet conditions. I barely get ranked matches (It's ben 8 months now). They're literally doing merchandise that's crossover stuff (The glasses, the shirts, the shoes etc.) That just focuses on consuming merchandise rather than the game itself. Microtransaction is worse because you get bundles instead of separate stuff. The microtransaction literally removed the majority of customization (If you look at Tekken 6, you'll be blown away how much there is).

I’m not completely sure what the aim here is, Tekken 8 is the most successful iteration of tekken because of the changes Tekken project has implemented thus far.
Specialty style ropes in the casual’s whenever they’re ready to take the training wheels off to start drilling the depth is there.
I remember There was a lot of talk around tekken needing “super moves” like street fighter after tekken 6 because casual players didn’t wanna have to get good grinding the input hours for execution, so they gave em rage arts
Heat has a decent amount of utility, comeback mechanic, combo extension, more creativity for death combos.
I think Harada out did himself with tekken 8, it’s fan service from this point putting highly requested legacy characters back on the roster, keeping great cosmetics in tekken shop an the battle pass that make players wanting to keep engaging with tekken.
In a world where fighters are dying out I’m glade there was a tekken 8 bottom line.

T8 is the first Tekken I tried to learn. I expected it to be a difficult journey and I gave it all the time I could dedicate to it, which is limited (cos of family and work). It's been the only game I played for months, trying to get better, getting frustrated with the hope that the moment to feel confident would come and the effort would pay off. Then Wukong came out and I noticed how different I felt playing another game again. I was having fun with Wukong, feeling challenged and yet chilled. The idea of playing Tekken again alienated me and I stopped playing it.
I realised the amount of frustration wasn't worth the very little fun I had with that game.
I can't exactly break down the reasons why, but I think it's cos of the things you mention here. As a new player I don't feel Tekken 8 welcomes players like me. It's merciless and alienating. I also don't like the average Tekken player, they play a way which is functional, exploitative, but not fun for their opponents, there's rarely any sportsmanship. In short I feel I'm being trolled by the developers of the game and its large player base. So I'm probably done with Tekken and fighting games in general cos I'm sick of mechanics like juggling, rage arts and rush downs. The fighting game I still enjoy is Sifu, but the 2-player fighting game I'd like to play still has to be created.
Will I play Tekken 8 again? Probably occasionally. I don't want to forget the things I've learned. It was such an investment of time and energy, but other than that I want to gradually detox from it, get it out of my head, abandon the idea I have to get anywhere, learn this or that or even get better. It wasn't a healthy mindset for a game that demands more than it gives.

I used to play Tekken 7 at least 3 hours per day. Tekken 8 i play 1 hour a week just to maintain my skill level. Its exactly as you describe i think about turning Tekken 8 on but then i just immediately think to myself there are more fun and rewarding games to play. Soo i just play Monsterhunter. Theres no pull factor for me for Tekken 8. Im one pay check away from buying Streetfighter 6.

Should T8 get more complicated similar to 7 and risk alienating the new fan base?

My few cents in that discussion...
I think game lacks few different aspects that were enjoyed by many players.
First of all is a skill cealing in select characters. It was pushing people to learn their specific charcters more and more, not exactly game as a whole. Among obvious examples like mishimas are dss for law, shiro combos for steve and jin, iws3 pickups for leo and others. It is too easy to master characters if we compare it to their previos iterations.
Second of all there is kinda limited choice in unique gameplan and design for characters. For example there is literaly no poking heavy chars like kazumi. No true "im super unsafe at everything i do but rewarding af" like chloe. Everyone you pick feels the same to play. Yea, those characters were mostly unpopular, but they attracted people that enjoyed that specific thing and nothing else in the game. What are they going to play now?
Third point older characters were reworked so heavily, they dont resamble themselves anymore. Alisa was heavily poking oriented character with good movement but extremely low dmg. Kazuya had absolutely 0 neutural and was forced into defensive playstyle. Jin was execution heavy specialist character and so on. We all see how all ended up.
And most important peace for me is lack of diversity in character visual design. We dont have fatties like ganryu or bob. No "no fighting style" like miguel. No towering terrifying powerfull mostrous but sluggush menace like true ogre or gigas. No dirty fighting bastards like negan. Even hated 2ds like eliza were bringing divercity. Now it feels like everyone are super fit agile athletes doing flips, spins, jumps and sumersaults. I realy miss gigas with his slow but power inducing moves like simple 1,2 packed such a serious punch. Or his ws3 that launched you so high like its class 1 launcher but balanced by his recovery.
For me and many other people who played t7 for atleast one of those reasons it feels like this game has nothing to offer. I still after nearly a year of trying every single character cant find one i truly enjoy playing. And all i see is "lets add another stance pressure character in a mix". how many we got already? A dosen?
T8 is still great game overall, actualy preety well balanced cast despite what people say, but that balance has come due to wrong reason of making everyone the same. Diversity is king. But monarch seems to haveleft the castle

It's the heat system ranked and balance. While not everyone needs to be top tier the characters should be usable. Heat needs to go just give back rage drives and ranked is beyond horrible. From plugging to screenshoting to 1 and dones, it's just insane. Movement feels worse as well, especially sidestep. They also keep taking away all the actual gameplay and putting it in 1 button. Where's the combo variety too like i love heihachi's double otgf. There's no more satisfaction in trying to learn anything hard in Tekken. That's why the game is plagued with Drag feng and Victor. The ease of use and payoff is too high. Why would I continue playing Azucena when I could struggle less and get more with drag ? (Granted, i advocated for Azucena nerfs, but i think it was too much) It doesn't feel good trying to learn a character when your character is patch note based.(meaning you rely upon patch notes to ensure your character is usable or not)

I think T8 frustrates high level players more is, it seems no matter how competent you can be, you can never guarantee a victory. Even I'm able to occasionally take a round off a Garyu(I'm Eliminator) and no doubt that's part my own skill, my character, but mostly T8s mechanics.
Personally speaking playing a game in which the outcome is already pre ordained is meh but to each their own

16:55 FACTS. You make some good points. Listen, I wanna like tekken 8, I do, & this “nostalgia” narrative about tekken 7 or how it was “stale” is just down right false. I played it the other day & other than graphic fidelity & load times, it’s the better experience. Heat should be a once per match thing & remove all heat engagers from power crushes. Remove chip. Let us play & let the better play be REWARDED. As for the roster, heihachi does nothing for most of us & there’s still no boss character playable like jinpachi or devil kazumi or guest like akuma. Netcode is still laggy with 80-90 ms being the norm & crossplay has so many rollback frames that STILL need to be addressed. Harada blocking ppl for asking about a character returning in conjunction with nothing being done about mass cheaters / plugger points isn’t helping either. Players are just tired man, the games mentally exhausting & tekken 7 in its first year was way more hype. It ain’t looking good, I’ll return when jinpachi or akuma comes. Y’all be safe. Much love mike

Do you know what's the biggest problem? Game developers think they're gods, and we can't complain bc "we dont understand"
The truth is tekken 8 still can be a great game, today it is just a good game with a terrible balance problem
Heat should be like a super bar filling as the match goes on (winning fills faster, losing slower)
Rage state is fine BUT rage arts should be the same way as the heat
(Or make it as a single bar like it was on 7 you choose what to do drive or art but like rage art uses the whole bar and heat uses only half) this is a simple idea but if implemented properly could work
But they think that new players are ignorant fools who only want to watch the game play for them, and that's why they added the assist combo button along with more heavy spam characters like hworang and ed
The only thing they need to do is stop listening to rich corporate who only want infinite money, and listen to the consumer who ACTUALLY has the power over the company since we have the money to spend on THEIR game
On a final note, they balanced the game to make heihachi the strongest when he drops, next tournament top 8 will be only heihachi

Not just Tekken but a lot of games should stop making games easier for thumbless players. I can understand that its for accessibility reasons but there are a lot of players having fun without doing all the learning required for harder games, just look at Kai Cenat fighting Melania or SF6 recent Sajam Slam where players admitted that they didnt even use training mode while others preached labbing everything, and i can safely assume all players had fun regardless. Heat probably isnt a good mechanic cause it removes the skill ceiling for those players who want higher level play and not to fight Xxjoebillybob-_- playing random

Hmm, from personal experience and some input from friends, I'm willing to bet a lot of the community are just fed up with the Tekken 8 expereince. So much shit to memorize, so many things to keep track of, such and obnoxious ranked experience. I think Tekken 8 is frustrating to its core with very very little payoff. At least in previous games, we had treasure battle and fight money to pick up a few cosmetics, but now we have the battle pass steamrolling the casual appeal of the cosmetics shop in Tekken 7. I'm guessing any casual player is going to quit at red ranks and switch over to another fighting game for their primary fighting game just because of how digestable it is compared to something like Tekken 8. If this is the issue, I really dont think there's anything the devs can do aside from make massive changes to things like the bloated movelist and reward system. Just taking a shot in the dark

I've only parted ways with the FG industry as a whole. I understand that seems a bit dramatic and it's not just on the games themselves - I just don't feel invested in fighting games anymore. Time to play games and really the list of games I want to dedicate that time to becomes shorter and shorter the older I get. I am not motivated by investing in long ranked grinds online just to have a pretty title. I'm not driven by constant season passes and additional payments that the games demand of me and put in my face from the moment I boot up the game.
I just want a game I play, finish, put down, and move on.

The reason I personally switched back to tekken 7 is because in a sense it feels more rewarding. Like yes, i have mastered this type of movement and setups and characters and what not and theres not that arbitrary one-button-roundstealer to take that away. people are gonna bring up akuma and geese and i have admit that i like fighting those characters more than playing tekken 8.
i can play t7 for hours on end but i cant bring myself to play more than a few sets of t8, part of that being due to the removal of deathmatches.
so basically: tekken 7 feels better because its harder and due to that more rewarding while tekken 8 values new players more than legacy players which takes away from the skill aspect. it just feels like every round is a heat simulator where its just a battle of who can use their heat the best. you landed a heat smash into wall combo? good job bro. heat dash into combo? good job bro, but it shouldnt deal that much damage.
and dont get me started on the whole 2 billion new stances and forced 50/50s. in tekken 7, forced 50/50s were a rather rare occurence happening (correct me if im wrong) mostly after rage drives (e.g. heihachi, kazuya, king), at the wall or in a wakeup situation although i wouldnt count those since if there is a wakeup involved than you have so many more groundplay options available to you.
now in tekken 8, every time drag presses the funny snk4 button or feng presses the heat 3+4 button i find myself in a situation that i dont deserve to be in since nothing i did wrong to end up in such a bad situation. essentially, i get punished for blocking which effectively erases the thing that makes fighting games appealing to me.
also rage arts are stupid but i probably dont have to go into why a once per round armor move than doesnt get beaten by lows and throws and does 60 damage (-15 btw since rage art needed buffs) is a little bit overtuned.

It’s a real thing and maybe that might explain why in the online rank I’m getting match up with players that are 6 to 10 ranks avobe me! Seriously.
And it’s not like before where sometimes you would get matched up with someone higher rank, but when that happens it would be with someone of only 3-4 ranks higher, not so out of line but now since yesterday when I got into online rank and Still today I been getting match up with players that are 10 ranks avobe me! I’m in Assaliant rank but I’m Getting put against people that are in Mighty ruler to Battle ruler rank! That’s 10 ranks avobe me.
Don’t get me wrong , it’s a good experience that i get the chance to test myself against players that are out of my league in the rankings, it gives me a lot of experience but it suck’s because it’s a high risk low reward, i lost to much points because i kept getting put against Mighty rulers in a row back to back, and i got devoted.
But we learn from it but i thought it was wierd that i kept getting match with people in those ranks! Maybe that’s the reason, and other reason, maybe my stats i don’t know, i highest win streak I had was 6 wins. Not much but something.
I’m stuck right now in Warrior and assailant, especially fighting against people in Mighty ruler and Battle ruler that i get match with and i get destroy, lol. I rage quit and deleted Tekken8 but i always installed it back hours later or inside a week I’m back again in Tekken8, as I’m trying to get better in my skills and level up in the ranks. Anyway I agree about the Tekken8 problem with pluggers, just give the points and take away points from pluggers. They should listen to you and others that been talking about that issue. Anyway , good video. I think that could be one of the reasons why I’m getting match up only with people 7-10 ranks avobe me, because many are leaving, and those who probably are stuck too. I’m still here trying to be ready for the next battle!
