I did the same as you but im tempted to add another fan. There is a nice space inside the body right above the motor. You could cut a hole for the fan to blow down on the top motor as well as the fan blowing across. Also if your planning to fit the oba sound kit there are mounting posts ready to attach too
Hey Ocular Cavity! I also run a UDR, I absolutely love it! I have been really enjoying your videos. It's cool watching a different perspective on repairing the UDRs weak points. Your completely right about the OEM driveshaft. I ended up upgrading mine to the MIP driveshaft. It's definitely a lot more heavy duty but I had to use red loctite with better designed set screws and pins. I run my truck hard so I still snap a pin every now and then. Even with that being said I still definitely recommend it. Keep up the good content!

The planetary should have been sealed to add fluid, not grease. I have all the Vitavon you listed and hardened gears and metal diff cups. Even with vitavon center transmission it still gets hot. Does having the fan cool down the whole transmission?
fans DEFINITELY worked for me, I have added fans in 3 locations you may not need all 3 but i would recommend at least 1 or 2 i put one on the side of the motor, bought a heat sink fan combo for the back of the stock motor and cut a hole in the driver area and put a fan there to bring in fresh are to the whole area and now the motor and center trans area are all cool like skin temperature

@@tunc03 the Ebay on need a little sanding to get it to fit it is close but not as hard to fit as the 36mm fan.The seller i bought mine from is no longer selling them i bought mine 2 years ago and this was the the same heat sink, but i don't know about the fan. The fan i got was a 12v fan back then. the fan in the picture looks different so it could be 6v but either way you could probably still hook it up to the receiver but worst case it will be running at half speed. The good new is the i got a whole box full of fans for like $10 on amazon it is good t have spares with the dust and dirt and rocks it will die eventually
i am pretty sure i was using channels 3 and 4 when i recorded this video but i have actually made a good deal of changes since this Video and need to do an update i am currently using at least 3 of the spare channels for my new exotic cooling methods i even cut an intake into the chasis and mounted a fan there and it not only cool the motor but the transmission as well no matter how hard or long i drive it temps don't go above 90 F
the center differential itself is the factory one but the transmission/center diff housing is made by a brand called Vitavon, my front bulk heaad and Rear Axle housing as well as both planetary gear reductions are from the same brand and i bought them on ebay from the same seller , WARNING the trans housing and the chasis needed some modification to fit properly if you own a dremel it is quit easy, let me know if a video would help, here is the link to the trans housing from the seller i bought all the parts from from www.ebay.com/itm/VITAVON-Alu-CNC-Center-transmission-tranny-For-UDR-Traxxas-1-7-8591-/283435173632?hash=item41fe0d8700

i actually ended up buying an MIP shaft but haven't installed ti yet, wanted to make sure my new limiting straps were working, my old ones had stretched and the extra travel was killing my stock driveshafts
@@ocularcavity8412 I recommended the MIP driveshaft on your channel a while back. To be frank its trash compared to the vitavon. I had similar heat issues which actually would cause the MIP driveshaft set screw to fly out even with red threadlock. Now that I am running the vitavon driveshaft not only have I not had any problems but it seems to run cooler.

Try drilling holes on the skid plate so the heat from the motor can escape that’s what I did

I put a heatsink with 2 30mm fans and the gpm rear fan mount and fits without trimming so 3 fans in total no heat with 31/47 gearing
