I will never forget the day that DMBrandon's return was gifted to the Smite community. I'll never forget the reddit post about the video where people who have never seen DMBrandon or Smite were watching it and correctly identifying "manbun" as a dick. It will always be remembered as the day every Smite streamer got the fight emoji for their channel and the Mercury memes ran wild.
Hayzer I just want to take a minute to give you appreciation in keeping the Smite lore and history alive. You always do a great job at being professional in your videos and celebrating Smite's past.
Great video, fun trip down memory lane I get it’s not in the same vein as the rest of the drama but Shotcalls being outed for (allegedly) lying about having cancer and using a fake name/face was so insane. Dude was so ingrained the community, hosted various charity events, was extremely close with some community members, and nearly EVERYTHING about his life was (allegedly) a lie. I remember Wraithyn calling every hospital around where he supposedly lived for confirmation and Shotcalls’ old college roommate having to confirm everything about him was false. Extremely fucked up, especially for the people he grew so close to.
jokes aside it still makes me almost tear up seeing that clip about him calling a suicide victim an asshole and all that, such a horrible thing to see and be heard. Love the vid never the less Hayzer
It was wild to me how many chances Leon and Matty got with all the drama shit they caused in Smite over the years, killing off multiple people's chances of ever making a team again with some of the stuff they did, but my guess is we'll still be seeing ElLeon come Smite 2 somehow
I mean, I remember watching his content on YT for a while. I found it informative and he wasn't being toxic in the stuff I watched (I'm sensitive to toxicity), which makes sense that he would be nice if things are going well and the toxicity is just outbursts, and many people don't watch everything, but some vids here and there. But yeah, didn't take long until it either got worse/ I saw more of his stuff/ his character came through after all. I don't remember what it was exactly but I recall a game where he really hammered into a guy that I thought was his good friend and then a short while later that dude never showed up in his games anymore. That's when I stopped watching him I think. And even then did I not know how bad things could be with him! All the stuff mentioned in this vid here, I only found out later.
I actually consider it a pretty big failing of the Smite community - lots of people I know and respect spent time around him, and were too afraid to speak up because of the power he held. Hopefully a lesson learned for us all, and something that we'll prevent ever happening again.
@@HayzerSmite I agree. I also think, when it gets competitive and ego comes into play, it's easy for some people to lose themselves and let frustrations take over. There are multiple, still active streamers and pros which act too negatively(or borderline toxic) for my tastes. Now again, I am probably just overly sensitive for this kind of stuff, but I think it's important to acknowledge how easy it is to slip into these behaviours, even for people who are at their core nice and have good intentions. Adding to that the fact that being in a rather exclusive club (e.g. top 1% of players) or having your own following (e.g. streaming) can easily create bubbles in which ones behaviour goes unchecked or even validated, with critical voices easily being pushed out or ignored. All that just to say(and support your point @HayzerSmite): As a community we need to watch out for this type of stuff. We are responsible for the environment we are creating. We are all taking part in it so we all should strive to form it to what we think is best. Call out toxicity and be nice, helpful and welcoming to others/ new players/ worse players than you. Especially with Smite2 around the corner and a possible influx of new people :)
It's horrifying how many people are either terrible judges of character or approved of his behavior. He had even been ousted from other gaming communities prior to Smite for the same reasons (Smash). You wouldn't have to watch his content for more than 30 seconds to have 10,000 red flags go up. The fact that he got 2k viewers who somehow backed him up and that Hi-Rez backed him up for so long, is, again, horrifying. He should've been fired and permabanned years before the sexual assault accusations and should never have been hired in the first place if anyone at Hi-Rez bothered to look into his background and reputation, which would have taken all of a few seconds to Google. But I digress. Great video @HayzerSmite , was fun walking down memory lane and reliving so many cringe clips I had forgotten about 🙈The tweet from Prime 💀
A revisit of some spicy content is not what I expected, but damn was it amusing (and depressing) to remember back. Only you could have made this video Hayzer, and I appreciate that you did.
Some extra mentions: TrixWank, if you were there, you know. The EU drama with an attempt at stealing an SPL/SML spot, I forget the specifics, think it was SteefyBeefy or Alexi - 90% of EU was in that Teamspeak call.
One of the worst parts of the Grim Depths drama is that the team picked to replace them wasn't even the best SOC team at the time, In Gabe We Trust, but Xenotronic's "Risky Behavior"
Yeah I think he was good enough, for more than one role even, just couldn't ever get the right team around him, and was probably too risky to be picked up by one of the lower end teams
Chapo is the best guy, as long as he is doing well and his team is winning. If you start losing or his play deteriorates, he gets toxic as fuck. Just watch his streams.
I agree, but I think he just couldn’t compile enough video I guess you’d call “evidence” of everything happening. Which I’m sure the incon video’s out there somewhere
something that always gets left out about the sanguine bug is that they did it during the preseason community tournament and admins didnt catch it then somehow
my name is missing on this list, i was the goated ranked antihero, the steve jobs of smite meta, the source of inspiration for future trolls and many more... i take this video a disgrace. still big love
Hey not really drama related but it's one of my favourite dmbrandon clips was in season 2 when c9 (the barra+jeff team) kicked omega and picked up baskin who was relatively unknown he made a big thing on his stream upset that he wasn't approached to be their solo laner and i remember watching it and this was pre-suicide rant so i was at the time a "fan" (unfortunately it took the suicide rant to make me go, oh this guys a cunt) and i was like dude you work for hi rez, you aren't a pro player and haven't played pro in at least over a season no shit they didn't consider you for the role. Also Paul i read your comment about dm being the biggest failing of the smite community and i wholeheartedly agree as someone who watched far too much of him and I'm ashamed to admit i even bought a shirt when he did one of his earlier merch drops (i don't wear it anymore for obvious reasons but it's probably somewhere in my house because I'm shit at throwing clothes away) I knew what he was like, his response to the chat calling the person an asshole was a response he gave so frequently, but because they were saying stuff like arachne solo is good or whatever game opinion it was I never really thought about how much of hurtful response it was till the subject was as unreasonable as someone admitting that his content helped create something positive in their life after a particularly dark part of their life. And especially as someone who has had rough patches that i don't want to get too into in a RUclips comment (i am in a much better place now I'm medicated and have a better support network) it really struck me how insensitive you'd have to be to have that response to a message like that in that way, and i can't believe i watched for as long as i did without recognising.
11:40 I was always on the fence about whether or not I have ADHD or not The fact I was able to compute all of the sped up casting feels like its basically confirmed it
Being able to comprehend fast things is absolutely unrelated to having AdHD. So unless you're making a joke I highly suggest getting properly diagnosed ^^
Brandon sucked. I'm so disappointed in myself for watching him for so long and thinking he was "cool for telling it how it is" I do hope his wife left him and found happiness
For sure, he was always a jerk. And ya know, after hearing him talking about suicide in that video, it’s clear to me he’s most likely speaking from a place of immense hurt from personal experience (I.e. someone he loved probably unfortunately took their life and he is obviously holding a lot of emotions in over it) but instead of empathy, compassion, kindness etc this dude thinks being an absolute douche canoe is the right thing to do in that situation? Wild, man.
Dm brandon did all that shit before hirez did something about it, but i get a ban for calling my teammates idiots for surrendering a joust while Im destroying pheonix and carrying them while they were both at least 1-8. Lol
I did have it included in my original draft of the top 10, but wasn't able to find much content around it, so figured it wouldn't be much fun to include outside of the honourable mention section :D
glad dm finally got what was coming, but it was hilarious that it happened shortly after talking about how "we just need to believe women" to immediately get slammed with allegations with 0 evidence AND the chick who started plugs her OF soon after. He deserved to reap what he sewed, but not like that
The Jerbie scandal incident was crazy. Also 13 minutes for a SPL game - I heard the " jokes " Envy but didn't understood them but glad to remise about them and finally understood. But omg DM being number 1 how did not know it was going to be 1st... The dude simple had a god complex but yeah the FACT he belittled everyone including his subscriber count is fucking insanity. What was the thing behind the coughing " incident " with DM. What was that about ?
You got number one wrong Dmbrandon was accused of sexual assault of another female twitch streamers girlfriend at a twitch party, around the whole me too movement, whether it was true or not that I do not know and that was the reason for the firing and him shutting down all social media and running away... her name came to me while typing this and I think it was smitten or something could be wrong since twitch deletes old vods.
DMBrandon was a giant toxic asshole. While I agree suicide is selfish, the way he communicated to that fan was completely fucked. After DM was banned, Weak3n became Smite's villain.
I will never forget the day that DMBrandon's return was gifted to the Smite community. He clearly has a personal grievance with Chapo. Just admit you’re insecure when you look in the mirror brother. It’s spewing out of you.
Seeing DM pop up in that random video on reddit after so many years was so hilarious
Lokwey thought he may have been in jail didnt expect to see him cosplaying mercury.

Fuck ElLeon man, had that guy in a match one time. Toxic af on stream.

Im impressed you could talk about DMs drama and it only be in 5-6 minutes

looking back at it, kinda surprised how long DM brandon was around for. Dude was PoS for a very long time and people still watched his content.

I’m so glad the who huffed into the mic made it in. What a great recap, can’t wait to see what drama smite 2 has in store
One of the worst parts of the Grim Depths drama is that the team picked to replace them wasn't even the best SOC team at the time, In Gabe We Trust, but Xenotronic's "Risky Behavior"
I remember watching that DM stream live. Absolutely insane thing to hear him say, but scarely in character
It crazy how long leon tried to get in the spl but was never good enough despite all his effort
It wasn’t that he wasn’t good enough, he just has a history of drama that wasn’t worth the headaches to most teams.

3:52 he literally said "why dont you come visit me, I literally gave you my address" which is downright real-life threat, he also called me that word

That Julio situation shows how Hi Rez are willing to not apply the rules to pro's/streamers before being pressured into it by the community
Outstanding video, would love to see more retrospective Smite 1 content, looking forward to Smite 2
