- Hi Rez Studios announced that they're doing yet another round of layoffs where they're putting all their effort into Smite 2 and completely ignoring their other games. The company
HI REZ the text book definition of 'to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory'
It's a bold move to abandon your most popular games to push a game that has already received a lot of negative impressions.
Survival of the fittest
thats hi-rez in a nutshell for you. Always chasing a new big boom instead of focusing on keeping their stable projects. Imagine if all the money spent in all the random failures they did was used instead on Smite and Paladins?
They honestly just look desperate at this point
@@valmiro4164 well they are. Paladins lost like 10k of its player base in the last 6 months
@@dazeen9591 thats why paladins was never the main focus
Im really sad for what they did to Paladins it was a good game, with cool and new mechanics but they just abandoned and never resolved the game problems
If only Paladins had better management
"You don't have to confront me with my failures. I have not forgotten them."
Oh really......
Smite 2 will be a failure simply because the people that did buy it saw that it was shit, and no one will come back for the beta or official release because first impressions are crucial.
I’ve played Smite for about five years and I’m pretty much done. The game should just fade into distant memory.
The exact reason I (a diehard diablo fan) only tested D4 and upon realizing how ass it was, chose to never buy it
First impressions are everything in the gaming industry yeah. Not everyone can pull off a No Man’s Sky
Doubling down on Smite 2 with Deadlock being the success it is is absolutely tone-deaf. This is a mistake that may very well kill the company.
Smite 1 is losing players because Deadlock is a better experience. Even if Smite 2 is awesome it will struggle to compete, though that's more a case of bad timing than anything. I can't imagine they could have predicted such heavy competition coming out of left field.
If they let go of SMITE 2 now, it'd still mean lay offs, or come up with another game that doesn't have an obvious challenger (DKO was probably closest). Paladins has Overwatch 2 in its arena, and ROGUE company has all sorts; Valorant, Rainbow 6 or Apex Legends. SMITE was its by in large biggest money maker, and they used to that move resources onto what is supposed to be a very needed update.
They look desperate but I don't think there's a way out for them, cancelling Smite 2 would look just as bad and would kill what is essentially their only chance.
Is it really out of left field when we knew about Deadlock for a couple years now? The only saving grace Smite has is that Deadlock is far from finished and won't be fully released for another year maybe 2. But if they keep the play test active for a long time then yeah Smite is screwed. If anything all the Smite pros should start jumping ship now and move to Deadlock.
@@johnathan5906 Deadlock has only been in the mainstream public eye for a few months, though it was having leaks since late October of last year so you're right there.
I'd be willing to bet Smite 2 has been in development just as long, though even if it wasn't I doubt they knew it'd be a very similar experience gameplay-wise without getting insider info.
If I were in Hi-Rez's shoes I don't know what I'd do. All of their games have been in a state of steady decline in player-count... They're losing players to better games, and it's a shame to see as they haven't really done anything awful outside of mismanagement, that I'm aware of at least.
They have a bad habit of making good games in genres where there's great, or at least very popular, ones, and with live service trying to own 100% of your time only one's going to win that spot for most people. Hopefully the talent that's been let go can find a better place to land, they're clearly capable of making good experiences.
All they need to do is remake Tribes and the world would be healed
Smite 2 is looking well on it's way to be the next Overwatch 2.
I will never forgive them for abandoning Tribes.
I miss Tribes Ascend, I tried Tribes 3 but it's not the same
Sell it to someone who want to make real money ! This game is DOPE but not enough modernization of the interface and stability of servers ….
Already pointed out the a company like this is proving me that it should've shut down the start when you have a person that dont know how to run a business in general
Bruh, Paladins is gold, it just needs support and a way to show that the game exists and how far it has come, High-Rez... why? Just why? This might be delusional, but I hope that Smite 2 will be successful so that Paladins can get the resources it needs and deserves
After 1 match of deadlock the movement is so good im never touching smite lol
Bruh they really taking the overwatch 2 route
Hi rez the American equivalent of Nexon, Nexon has something called the curse of Nexon and that's when everything that is not p2w at launch fails like crazy, KartRider drift is a perfect example
Every single Hirez game realease basically ever has been chasing a trend: obviously smite was chasing the moba trend, paladins is an overwatch clone, royale is a battle royale, they have some kind of CS clone, they made a fighting game because multiversus was trending, they tried to make a HS clone.
That business model incentivizes being extra crappy to the community and burning bridges. So what all our players hate our guts and they'll never come back, our next game is a Fortnite clone, we'll get 1 million new players who've never heard of Hirez before.
.... They fed up big time this time because no one cares some stupid game that's been out for a decade and they've never tried is getting a remake. The only people who are going to play Smite 2 are Smite 1 players. And Hi Rez just burned all the bridges.
I hope smite doesn't die but if it doe, it's just gonna be the most fitting end possible. The game not losing popularity but hirez fucking up like they always have and then going bankrupt. Rogue company is a prime example of them fumbling at every oppprtunity possible. That game had 15 million players at one point and now it's like 300 on a good day.
I was into smite 2 then deadlock happened, and why would I play a 3rd person moba that doesn’t have a z axis. The other games in the genre have gotten there😊
I really should get into Deadlock
As a smite 1 player, I quit Smite entirely due to the recent things. I am not gonna play Smite, the community and management is horrible.
I don't care that I spent a few thousand over the years on paladins and Smite, and not playing both of those. Nor smite 2.
I've been playing more Fortnite Warframe and open world games. After playing smite for 8 years I predicted this exact thing would happen sadly I think there's just no coming back for them I mean the loyal players will always still be there like me but I can't see the company making profit year after year or gaining new players. Sadly it'll go the way of overwatch 2
dude i hope paladins will stay up as long as possible, altho ive been playn much more overwatch, paladins was the game i used to play alot before aswell as more recently ive enjoyed paladins more (mostly because of the game having a more interesting 5v5 experience)
Didn’t know you made a second channel. Hope it takes off
Why the seconde channel?
great video!
Thanks!
Finally 👏🏻
After 100+ hours on deadlock i don't see why anyone would touch smite 2, deadlock is exponentially more fun.
Well thats bc not everyone likes deadlock
i guess you must be blind cause i dont really like deadlock
How can I play deadlock?
