The game has a block button to prevent any further communications. If the player tries to harass beyond that block button then the devs should take action. Other then that; this is a form of control. You would not be excited if your car company shut off your car because you flick off another driver. When the game was "toxic".. it was a better game because people were free to interact how they wanted. Now you get banned for spamming emotes. This game is designed for shit talking.. Think about if the UFC came out and started acting like HiRez.. banning everyone who said mean things lol. Its a PURE PVP GAME.. People will be upset with one another and use fighting words. Get over it and stop creating safe places within toxic spots. None of you soft hand "gamers" would ever debate this topic, its why you hide behind ToS and other gay shit.

Smite Poo is horrible so far. Its just not ready. Smite 1 over the last 3 years has had so many changes that the game is horrible now. For no reason they decimated the amount of damage dps roles could do by nerfing power on items and increasing base hp and prots. They shifted the meta completely and heavily every 3 months. Bi annually, they made completely radical changes to game that casual players couldn't keep up with. Also, joining pc and console in ranked was a bad idea. Thats coming from a console player. I went from 2700-3000 mmr as an ADC main but playing adc on console is a significant disadvantage to PC. Thats just one minor thing pc has the advantage on. Ultimately the sweeping changes to alter the way the game was played destroyed the game. Why a company would completely change the way a game is played while everyone is loving the game is crazy. Whoever made that decision is the person who SHOULD be laid off.

I'm down for smite 2 as soon as they have clash and or assault until then I'll play other games 😅

eSports does NOT a successful game make - it only makes it financially stable. Computer games have been successful before, and games can and will be successful after.

I really want my smite to work out, I love the game although I haven’t played since S10 now, personally I always like the big changes it was always fresh feeling, but the S10 update with the removal of hybrid items and so many items that made building interesting to me just killed my interest in playing it and trying builds.

Why keep incompetence? This is shown by various gaming companies. It’s always criticized by that one caved-in out of the reality loop nerd that thinks just because they play every game that ever gets released; they have a say in how the alpha( not even beta) will play out. It’s almost as if these “streamers” think they are just as if not more tech savvy than actual game devs. I got a wake up call- applications are obtainable online. Stop being the problem and be the solution if u have ideas

I can’t comment on the state of the company or layoffs, but smite 1 likely wouldn’t have survived another year to keep people interested enough for a sequel. Another year of development would’ve certainly benefited smite 2, but UE3 is an antiquated system. No one trains to program and develop on that engine anymore, let alone the heavily modified version smite 1 runs on. As a result, the talent you can hire is severely limited. I’ll miss both Tina and Ena, been a part of this community since season 3 and their personalities as front facing members of the community will be sorely missed. It’s just a real gut punch, and i can only imagine what the people who were laid off feel like after devoting so much time and effort to these projects. Best of luck to everyone involved, from the bottom of my heart.

Smite 2 straight up doesn’t feel like smite, atleast not for controller players. My entire friend group isn’t switching for this reason alone. We were so hyped before the play tests started. Hoping the best for the future, but we’ve been consistently disappointed by HiRez for literal years. The layoffs top it off horribly, so very sad.

Definitely always felt a bit weird that Hirez had their own niche with Smite and instead of focusing on it, used it to fund new games that were late te trending genres. Never made sense, sad to see it came to this but not all too surprising unfortunately. Hope all affected bounce back.

They should’ve done one more year of the spl. The jerseys and teams and all the drama made it must watch content and made it more worthwhile to play. The pushed smite 2 too hard

It's actually great. Not the fact that people lost jobs of course , but the fact they acknowledge the problem and making some drastic changes ( at least I hope they do) . After being a smite one trick for 12 years (without doing any money from smite) even I lost all hope last month. Now , I got some back... I really hope they are not just releasing people , they need to hire some actual high level software architect. Their code feels amateur and low quality. It's actually insane how similar it feels to smite original release. It was bad in 2012 , but now it's just unacceptable. They need to forget about monetization at this point , first ,build a good game. We all know, people will drop a lot of money if they like smite. Why all content creators talk about the numbers not add up? It's a new game, it's an investment and should be looked that way. They could do smite2 in secret for a couple of years testing it with paid testers (it would sum up to a significant number) but having smite 1 generate some money for them, but they chose the option to use us as testers and release sooner and that cost them practically killing smite 1 and the money it generated. So it's a trade off ... If those people who got fired are good and talented, they will get another job. They gotten the opportunity to gain some invaluable experience that many can't even get. So stop this "mama teresa" bullshit pls. Hirez is not a charity organization. Also , for the 300k lan. It straight up feels like a bribe for pro players and content creators to stay around smite at the moment. Zero competitive integrity , it's a roll dice on bugs. As much as I agree that esport is an absolutely must for smite, I don't think it can't be delayed. You can keep the core esport figures , temporarily assign them to other tasks, there is a lot of testing needs to be done...

stopped following smite after the last worlds I think smite in general is heading towards the grave after a decade of the same gameplay somethings need to change and just releasing the same game basically different because oh the same god does something slightly different just aint cutting it. smite 2 should have been revolutionary and not just a little side step on graphics and gameplay. been a fan of smite since 2016 I think smite is just past its style. like putting on an old cool jacket but it just doesn't seem to fit or look the same way. smite 2 is 100% a let down

We got here through years of poor decision making. How many games did they release and then just leave to die? Remember when we had Orgs in SPL? When there was actually some money in the SPL. It’s no small hit to put 8 teams of 5 on your pay roll. I understand there was some issues with a team or two paying their players but did we need to go to the extreme of just… removing SPLs connection to the real money in competitive gaming. It’s a damn shame but this isn’t any different than the issues at Bungie. Poor decision making by upper management that’s lead to layoffs and a dying game. It’s also made worse when every smite RUclipsr and pro player has been shitting on the game for years. I don’t think I can remember the last time I heard any of the SPL players talk positively about the game in any significant capacity. I mean shit you get two rounds of layoffs and Weaken’s next video is about everything wrong with smite 2. Zero positive outlooks or comments. Just constant negativity and criticism that can only BARELY be described as constructive. But unfortunately I think this is curtains for Smite. I don’t see how hi rez can contend with a desperate need for more gods in smite 2 while having to layoff employees, and contend with a community of diehards who can’t talk positively about the game, and contend with Deadlock taking pro players and two of smite’s biggest content creators along with who knows how many others. It’s a shit storm and I’m not particularly sure what hi rez is going to be able to do about it.

Smite failed the moment Hirez decided to completely change how the SPL was designed originally. Why they decided to take out regions is beyond me. Dumbest decision ever. That was the beginning of the end for Smite. Then they decided to cut ties with established eSports teams which was another big mistake. Those teams brought in a lot of popularity they gained from other games, along with their player base, to Smite, but for whatever stupid reason they decided that they were better off without these sponsored teams. Then on top of that, the fact that they have gone completely woke was just the cherry on top. As the saying goes "go woke, go broke". I have never seen a company who bans 30% of their player base for "toxicity" in just 2-3 months. That was wild to me. So wild in fact, that I decided to test out how woke they actually went. I made 2 smurfs in which I would use different levels of toxicity during games. Nothing that went against TOS obviously like death threats, racism, etc, but toxic enough that I would make sure to get reported for harassment. My first account I was extremely toxic, and sometimes would even throw personal insults to players, and it took about 2 months to get permabanned. I then made a 2nd smurf where I toned it down A LOT and would only occasionally be "toxic" and only say things like "you suck", "uninstall", "you're trash", etc.. things that you would expect to see in any game. This time it took about 3 months to get permabanned. This little experiment confirmed to me just how woke Hirez got with its expectations from people. The fact that both accounts took about the same amount of time to get permabanned, even though the levels of toxicity were not comparable at all was all I needed to see to know for sure that they went completely woke. I even heard from other players that they've gotten banned for calling somebody "dumb". At first I thought they were exaggerating, but then was quickly able to see for myself that it wasn't an exaggeration at all. I messaged Hirez so they could give me examples of how I was "toxic" to players. Aside, from the obvious answers I knew I would get, one of the answers I got which was the final nail in the coffin, was that I would refer to players who were playing "Ratatoskr" as "rat". LMAO. Like if that isn't proof that they have gone completely stupid and woke, then idk what is. It really sucks too because I truly believe the game itself was a masterpiece and is one of the most enjoyable games I've played, but unfortunately Hirez ruined what could've been, in my opinion, the next LoL or Dota, all because they decided to make idiotic business decision and go woke. I want to have high hopes for smite 2, but seeing as how the idiots who ran smite 1 to the ground are gonna be the same idiots who are gonna be running things in smite 2, I really don't see it going anywhere but the bottom shelf.

almost like if they were going to do a refresh to fix the game they should have done it years ago when smite was doing better and just kept it quiet until they could literally just update the game into the new game

1. I think Stew should have stepped down years ago. 2. 'There shouldn't be a prize pool tournament if you have to lay people off' is an emotional statement that makes zero sense if you think for even two seconds. Smite 2 needs to grow or EVERYONE at the studio will be out of a job and there needs to be some incentive to participate in the tournament and the game isn't fun right now with the same 10 characters in every single match so no one's going to do it just to do it.

Hayzers tone and what he doesnt say, communicate alot. Seems like this was inevitable but Smite 2 probably sped things up.

15:31 i absolutely agree. Me personally am more into smite in general when pro league is going. The teams, the hoping your favorite wins or the drama involved spurred my interest in smite as im sure for many others. I feel they should of kept smite 2 on hush-mode. Let it slowly cook in the background while keeping a good focus on the pro league. Announcing smite 2 so early, dissolving any pro league and trying to push cross gen skins in first place are imo what will kill smite. The moment you reveal "new" smite people will feel old one is abandoned and immediately draw negative Overwatch 1 vs 2 comparisons.

The pros should start looking into Deadlock if they haven't already. Smite 2 ain't looking good. Its just poor decision ontop of poor decisions, and the same tool/CEO is still there making the same dumb moves. Too much cope in the pros. :/

They revealed the game over a year too early. Whoever runs hirez is genuinely allergic to good decision making they are lucky the devs make a fun gameplay loop
