And my initial concern was that it would only apply to skins ported from Smite 1, then they later announced that the exception was direct ports from smite 1 where you could use them for full purchase. It's worth noting that it seems the collabs in smite 1 seemed to be a success, (with an exception of the streamer tournament). The only issue with the bigger variety streamers seemed to be that they only enjoyed the game playing with a 5 stack, and scheduling multiple people to play isn't easy. I'm hoping that Smite 2 continues the collabs, I have my fingers crossed that smite 2 will explode in popularity as smite 1 was already the best looking moba (god the bar for that was so low) and the more I look at the biggest examples of competitive sequels in recent years smite is looking primed to be more like CS than OW
What if they fix spectator, and then there's nothing to harness our anger into so we become filled with internal hatred that old spectator and stasis mode used to be the punching bag for. Scary stuff.
The worst thing about no SPL this year is a potential lack of hayvering pub quiz updates. As for actual smite stuff, honestly my wishlist is just a refined smite experience the amount of small to major bugs in smite 1 is so frustrating. I genuinely think smite is really fun but i don't think it's ever been without a bug at least somewhere in it. Also spectator being better is huge because i always fall prey to the oh i should rewatch one of my ranked games to see how i can improve only to be met with a near unusable experience and giving up.
The problem with Hi-Rez is that they have no QA Engineering team. A company that follows such terrible practices is never gonna produce quality product. Also, I don't think it will easy to scope any automations tests due to the complexity and the nature of it. Automation is usually done when you have stable pieces of code, which never happens with Hi-Rez and you automate really the most straight forward scenarios. For someone to create something like that they would need a QA Architect, which considering they have no respect for QA at all won't happen, so people shouldn't expect a quality product but the same story with micro-transactions of skins which is the only reason Hi-Rez are upgrading to UE5 - basically easier development of skins.
Yeah, unfortunately that seems to be the norm in game dev - programmers working on the game don't seem to have the education / appetite necessary to create comprehensive test suites, dunno if it's the ecosystem not really supporting it or other problems I don't understand, but I don't think it's a HiRez exclusive by any means. I'm sure at some point things will change as they have across the rest of the software dev industry, we can dream it happens sooner rather than later :)

I'm really hoping they introduce some better rewards to ranked, as a big problem with that mode has always been that only 5ish % of the already small playerbase plays it. If you even got something like legacy gems (so essentially discount coupons for some older skins) for winning 3 ranked matches each week or something I think that could go a long way. And then a more significant reward like a chest, real gems etc for hitting a new rank would encourage people to climb
Yeah, I've always been a big proponent of ranked rewards, hopefully they can fix the system to prevent it being gamed (by playing in low population regions, for example) and give out meaningful rewards to top performers

I think the Chronobreak in League is only usable on their tournament server and is used during competitive games, when a game breaking bug occurs, to revert back the game state to before the bug occurred, I don't think pro teams can use it to do setups, I think they have to manually get the game to a state on say multiple accounts to practice setups. Also I'd love is spectator gets improved as close to the one in Dota 2, where you can watch games from previous patches and have a lot more control over it. Also fix being able to spectate order sieges by removing some terrain between the camera's perspective and the gods. Hopefully they also add Top Live Games or something akin to that feature that Dota 2, that allows you to spectate high elo ranked games without having to know who's playing in them and having to queue to spectate them. As a whole I hope they improve the "client" of the game, where you spend a lot of the time before/after games

My opinion on Clans... you said you don't care, but actually it's a huge thing in every single "casual" game to be able to connect players to each other. Having a "clan chat" similar to a guild chat in MMOs where you can chat shit with your friends, see who's online easily without having to manually DM or invite people... Smite historically has been absolutely trash at connecting players to each other. And clans would be a good step in the right direction imo
I never went to SWC for smite 1, Season 7 and 8 were the first that I was heavily invested and they didnt have worlds like that, and then I just never had the money for either 9 or 10, always had expenses when they released tickets sales that made it impossible for me to buy and plan. If they do have an EU LAN or worlds man, I would love to find a way to make it my first trip to Europe ever and combine it with my love for smite.
It is a really great experience, pretty much never spoken to anyone who was disappointed with their trip to an event, hopefully one of the early Smite 2 events is manageable for you!
