The fact that the studio that made rugrats, made the early art concepts makes so much sense now! They did a great job because that style of art is so 2000’s but so unique and unforgettable.
When people actually asked for the Bratz to have a movie and series in 2002, they wanted them to be on the project. That's why Starrin' & Stylin' wasn't as popular as it could have been, and they had to rebrand with the Bratz TV series, essentially soft rebooting the story.
oh my god, i went to that passion 4 fashion world tour as a kid! i don't really remember much about the plot but i loved the songs and i think i still have the programme and lanyard from the concert somewhere. i'm also pretty sure i had one of those be-bratz things back in the day and the usb stick was indeed a nightmare to work.
Now I’m crying so much. Thanks for showing us the lost media. The nostalgic 😭 I love the makeover game so much. It really makes me so upset. Where’s the time machine.
You’re welcome! It’s really sad that a lot of these pieces from our childhood end up becoming lost media. Obviously the games are still playable, but the entire website isn’t fully accessible sadly. The Wayback Machine exists, but it can only do so much, sadly 😭
I do feel bad that almost every not collector person, know and see the Bratz as “b!tc3s”, mean girls, divas or worst, even the girls who played with them, nowadays remembers them as that… it’s… sad
Most locals I see that remember Bratz will always call them that or even something like baddies, when they clearly weren't. It makes me laugh cuz of how dubious and frankly untrue those claims are.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Hey guys, I know that the video came out just yesterday, but I wanted to address some errors made in the video that I failed to correct post-editing. My intention was to bring awareness to these pieces of lost media and to showcase what they are and what could've been. Even though the video, for the most part, was well researched, I also want to acknowledge some mistakes that were made. 1. Twisted was NOT a spin-off of the Bratz franchise. It was a separate doll line by MGA that was planned but ultimately canceled. It's unknown if the poor sales of the 2013 Bratz were the reason for the line's cancellation. Thank you, Instagram user lihcorice, for bringing this to my attention. 2. Even though it's been largely considered that Paula Abdul was fired from the live-action Bratz film, as it was showcased in her Bravo reality show, a July 2007 article from MTV.com claims that scheduling conflicts led to her departure from the film, which was confirmed by cast members from the film. To this day, we don't know the real reason for Abdul's dismissal from the film. 3. This one is a smaller detail, but it's still worth noting. The contestants from Bratz Design Academy were actually between the ages of 9 and 14, not 9 and 12, as said in the video. No team was eliminated in the first 5 episodes. And finally, the winners of the series were Gemma Waugh and Laura Reed, who got the chance to fly to Los Angeles and design their own line of Bratz dolls, although we don't know if these were ever produced. Even though I'm satisfied with the final product, in terms of editing, parts of my research needed some tweaking, as spreading misinformation like this was never my intention. I know I shouldn't be hard on myself like this, but as the saying goes, "you are your own worst critic". But of course, my content will only grow from here. I really appreciate your guys' support and feedback! I hope to see you guys again soon! Love, Justin ✨
"So the show was basically a Project Runway Junior's clone but with Bratz' tagline slapped on it for good measure'' That's also the case with The Glee Project lol
I actually saw that tour in Brighton. I can't remember what year it was or especially what really happened or anything, I just remember seeing it and being really excited and happy about it
I never got the full experience from Barbie Girls and especially not from B-Bratz because neither were available in my country. I could still play Barbie Girls because they offered the free version even if you didn't have an mp3 player for premium options, but I recall not being able to play B-Bratz because you needed the USB stick to actually access it. I always found it such a bummer though because the B-Bratz looked like they had the better character design and fashion than Barbie Girls. I honestly think their downfall as a platform was also the fact that they didn't cater to the international market that much, if at all. As such, little girls flocked to Barbie's website rather than to the Bratz's.
I got a be.bratz when they came out, it was the coolest thing ever but I lost the usb key somewhere (stilll sad about it) and the doll, so all i have left is the pet panda
Back in the day I was able to hack into someones Be- Bratz account. So you didn´t even really need to have that USB thing. I still have screen shots of all the hairstyles (in 4 colors each) and clothes and shoes. but the quality isn´t the best but I used it to have my own dress up game with photoshop ^^°
You talking about show me what you got reminds me of a fact not many know in the game boy advance port of the bratz rock angelz game they use the song as the title theme it sounds nice in the gba quality
loved this video! its sad to see how a long line of a success was taken down because of legal battles.. it makes me wonder if they would be in a better place success wise had these things not happened
omg thank you so much for all the effort you put into finding and putting together this content. i would have been interested to see what paula would have done with the bratz though. kind of sad that didn't happen. plus a broadway musical would have been MY LIFE. so would have the world tour. i hope maybe they'll bring some of this stuff up with the new releases and hype. and doooon't even get me staaarted on the website. the loss of those things upsets me so much
You’re welcome! I really wanna see an alternative cut of the live action film with Paula Abdul’s involvement, that would be really interesting! We were ROBBED of a Bratz broadway musical. Maybe in the future we’ll get one! Also, R.I.P. the original Bratz website, it’s so upsetting that these types of media become lost to time 😭
Your videos are always a learning experience for me and I love it! I definitely would have loved to have seen Ubisoft's lost game hit the market as for the time it would have released it would have been pretty impressive! I do actually remember the ads for the usb MMO of Bratz, but of course I came from a poor family so I never got to experience it, but I do remember the Bratz website implementing something really similar. For a short while you could make a free account on the website and it allowed you to make an avatar and buy clothes for said avatar. The points you earned to buy the clothes were these purple stars (I think appropriately called Starz Points) with various amounts of points (5, 10, 15, 20, and I think a 50) and they were scattered throughout the website and the flash games on the website. There are some Bratz games that have been preserved that actually still have remnants of these stars right on the title screen. Obviously clicking them doesn't do anything, but that's what they were used for. Also you should totally do a video on the unreleased lines of Bratz dolls! I don't remember exactly, but there may be evidence of some of those doll lines in the Bratz video games by THQ. I feel like I saw a couple pieces of concept art of the girls in outfits that never actually made it to doll form, but I want to say they were supposed to. Take what I say with a grain of salt though. I could be wrong!
Thank you! I really appreciate the support! I remember owning one of the Be-Bratz dolls, and I do remember having an account, but I don’t remember a lot from the website, since I was more of a fan of BarbieGirls and Ty Girlz. It could be possible that you could access the website and create an account, but I don’t know if inserting the USB key and accessing the MMO would warrant special content. Again, I don’t remember a lot from it. I will eventually do a video on unreleased Bratz dolls, maybe with the help of another fellow Bratz fan, who knows! ✨ I feel like some of the outfits in the Bratz games were only exclusive to specific artwork and products, and likely never got released as dolls. Makes me wonder if some were even considered for future Bratz lines.
i love lost media i love bratz so this video is perfect 🙌😻😻😻 fact: i've been searching for the bratz musical since 2009 but nothing aside from the information that you presented here 😔
I made it to this video because when I was a kid I had one of the Bratz magazines that I swear had The Veronicas on the cover! I vividly remember this but can’t find any evidence or photos of it online? I know they have a song in a Bratz movie so I think it’s real 😂
Yes! Bratz had their own real life magazine! I was subscribed to it! It was comparable to most teen magazines as opposed to being toy-specific, so real life celebrities were on the cover.
A wonderful video indeed! I loved it! I’m always so happy to learn anything about the Bratz brand. Thank you so much for making this! And shout out to you Dom! You’re a treasure!💜
I still have the little pink mouse from my Be-Bratz doll! I wish I knew where the Chloe doll was, I think my dad got rid of most of my dolls when I was a teen because I couldn’t find them anywhere :(
I never grew up with Bratz dolls but I love this video! I remember my mom getting the Bratz Rock Angels CD for us even though she hated them XD I DO remember a snippet of a bratz commercial that had the song Pon De Replay in it. I think it's lost media as i can't find it online yet. I don't remember what the name of it was, or the theme of the dolls. I just remember a part where a shoe stepped in the shot, then it pans up to the Brat of the shoe (Possibly Yasmin??) and that was it. Incredibly generic info especially for a doll commercial, but that's all i remember. Does anyone know what i'm talking about??
Hiii ! I have a question! Do you think they will be a sequel to the series released on TikTok ? There’s not a lot information on the subject, barely anything but some people in the comments section where talking about a show probably airing on Netflix, especially that they are talking about streamflix through the show
I remember when in 2013 I got a cd from my mom with flash games on it and the cover had some 2010's CN characters, and there was a flash game of Bratz as little babies in a shoping mall. The game was about to choose one of them and collect some items (i think) and escape from some guards that would catch them. XD seriously I loved that game, but unfortunately I don't remember it's name. I miss that cd so much as well. Edit: it's Bratz Babyz Mall Crawl, for someone who wanna know!
I don't think Bratz introduced an unnecessary number of characters in the 2010s at all because, in between, there were more Black characters than they ever released between 2001-2008. Back then, there was only Sasha, Zada, and Felicia. With the 10 new characters, we got Lydia, Brigitte, and Myra. Now, they could have done better with them (their outfits, face molds, bodies, etc) and more with them, but their introduction was not a bad idea. They should have release more boys of color, too. And it was not the first time MGA released a plethora of Bratz characters. Between 2001-2008, there were already dozens of Bratz characters out there besides the initial four. Bratz is not just the initial four, like the movies and poorly adapted tv shows would have people believe. Thankfully, they added more to bring in more melanin and diversity.
Fun fact! The bratz website actually dates back to 2000, rather than 2001! However, all that you could do was watch that intro you already put in the video
I have a very vague recollection of this. I do remember before the website peaked and back when the brand was just starting, you would get greeted by the intro and then the front page, very similar to what Justin showed, but it looked almost like a maintenance page. Like there was nothing there except for the early concept art of the dolls and then a little blurb of text saying something like "Coming soon! Check back later!" It's been so many years I could be remembering it wrong, but just confirming that you're right. That was a thing!
NGL. The main reason I never got into the bratz as a kid was because I hated, and still do hate 2000s fashion. It's so achingly boring. Like, I look at the bratz fashion and feel nothing,
I often wonder what would have become of Bratz and all its media if Mattel never got involved and they were just allowed to flourish unbothered.
Very good point, makes me wonder how long they would’ve lasted if that legal battle with Mattel never happened. 🤔

Wow the audio of Paula Abdul was really heartbreaking
Thr bratz website lives rent free in my head

It could have evolved with the times if the company had invested, had the same team on board, and didn't have a revolving door.
