The VO that accompanies this at the end is great - "...then there are those who care not about extraterrestrials, searching for meaning in other human beings. Rare or lucky are those who find it. For although we may not be alone in the universe, in our own separate ways, on this planet, we are all... alone."
We can argue all day long about which episode is best. However, this is the best ending of any episode. Something so beautiful, yet so in character for the show. This is great!
I agree, although the episode where the Lone Gunmen die as heros, is the saddest episode, or most poignant, for me at least. I cry seeing that episode, it reminds me of the many I have lost throughout the years, decades.
If you think about it, the ending is actually quite sad when Jose Chung says: "For although we may not be alone in the universe, in our own separate ways on this planet, we are all alone." It's additionally enhanced by this one beautiful music.
The saddest thing of all is we are not alone. If you knew and could see who and what,is around you from your first breath;to you last, you would realize...we are never alone.
The quote was not be taken literally.. think of your thoughts, fears, doubts, etc.. yes you may have friends and family with you and around you but ultimately in your living existence you are all you and no one else hence the quote ‘In our own world we are all alone’.
Gussie Miller lived in a City populated by Millions, in a tenement with hundreds surrounded by myriads of pictures 📸 Children, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, and extended family and friends, yet in her final moments, died alone 💔 not even a neighbor or the landlord who finally called after 3 days, a cold August day, medical files on the table, her huddled between the window and the bed. ALONE, in a City of Millions, She died completely Alone.
Imagine having to deal with someone who attacks you when you exhibit masculine traits for survival, then claims all you do is cry, when you finally let it out for a bit. Sane people cry. It's exhaustion, I'm stable mentally.
I think it's from the episode The Red and the Black. The scene is the one in which Scully remembers what happened on the bridge while in regressive hypnosis.

That's Darrin Morgan through and through.
My favorite x-files episode of all time

Season 3 episode 20. Maybe the best; but, definitely among the best five episodes of the entire series.
Season 7 Episode 11 best!
it took a few viewings to get this episode, this music just added some depth and warmth to the end.
You know, I hadn't consciously thought of it...but you're absolutely right. That and the voice over helped make it less of a farce comical episode.

The piano part is a requiem for us all, for in the end, when we leave, we are truly 😔 alone.

@@camf33 Exactly. Some people can feel alone in a room full of people.

That's not necessarily a good thing if you are not shown compassion
The Whistle at the end is so lovely.
My favorite part

I was never prepared for what this episode was about to offer me. Undoubtedly, the best!
That’s a bleepin dead alien.

By which scene was this picture used?
I think it's from the episode The Red and the Black. The scene is the one in which Scully remembers what happened on the bridge while in regressive hypnosis.
Thank you very much. Kassandra was a rising scene, wasn't it?
Um, if I understand you correctly, I think this was it, but I can't really recall.
