Also, again, the internet infrastracture wasn't the same 7 years ago, and probably still not ideal for a lot of people today. You can still have some massive lags in todays games in many regions.
@@Deliveredmean42 You're absolutely right. Theres tons of towns and municipalities that have dogshit internet service even today. It was a big issue during covid with students having to do school at home. It was ALOT worse back then.
As a big NoClip and Skillup fan, I would have LOVED to hear both your teams audio and his teams audio when you dropped in on Danny from the roof . It was probably gold
From the test a while back one of my favorite moments was blowing the floor out from beneath the drop off, collapsing the building mostly on my teammate and myself right next to the drop off, we were able to steal it while the rubble covered us just as the time ran out causing us to score the win. It was so, so, so cool and dynamic.
I can see the devs who did this game were fans of Battlefield Hardline, it has almost every single tool that game had, the same graphics, etc. I'm so glad to learn about this game
I recall during a DF podcast a few weeks or months ago, Alex answered a question about the future of gaming from the perspective of advancing technology--a sort of "what's the next ray tracing going to be?"--and his answer was, somewhat surprisingly, environmental destruction. It's interesting because environmental destruction feels sort of old, like it already had its moment in the limelight, but it's also an extremely resource-hungry technology that really limited its implementation at that time. So I really like the idea of structuring a game around true environmental destruction, which sounds insane and chaotic but also fresh and fun.
Hey Skill Up - just wanted to say you bring joy to my kids every week. Anytime they hear "GAMERS!" in the living room they rush in and listen intently to your voice. That is all.
The best implementation of building destruction in an online environment was Red Faction: Guerilla. It gave you so many tools to manipulate the environment (including a sledge hammer as your primary weapon). That game's servers didn't stay populated for more than like a year, but I had some great multiplayer experiences and thrills with it and I wish it got more traction. This is cool, I am excited for it, and I hope they are willing to give players as many tools as possible to manipulate the environment. I will continue to pray that another red faction comes out on current gen consoles...
This game looks like lightning in a bottle. These devs have a proven knack for moving videogaming forward in quantum leaps. Battlefield 1942 was so outlandishly big and clever that it seemed like people from the future had made it. Same with Mirror's Edge, still looks and feels ahead of the game to me. I genuinely think this one is also going to blow the bloody doors off, both literally and figuratively. Amazing.
I absolutely loved Lawbreakers and love battlefield. I got to play the alpha and definitely feel this is like a mix of those two games. Can't wait to play the new beta and see how much it has improved!
Its looks like RB6 Siege and I don't even know man, Team Fortress 2 had a baby? One thing is for sure, THIS IS NEXT GEN DESTRUCTION! 3 Classes with tons of weapons and gadgets, Destruction taken to the EXTREAME, and 4 teams of 3. _a new contender has appeared_
This looks amazing. I really hope it comes out working and without uber greedy micros. Being free to play is a bit scary though. If it's just cosmetics, then that's fine
I'm not the kind of person who is normally into competitive multiplayer PVP games. I'm not a person who's inherently into competition, and historically access to online gaming is relatively recent for me. I prefer singleplayer experiences where I can "slow-burn" and experience everything at the pace I like. However, every now and then comes along a competitive multiplayer PVP game that brings something so captivating, whether setting, presentation, game mechanics, or whatever; that I make the gap and delve into it. _Battlefield_ has been one of those kinds of titles, and I'm pretty confident in saying _The Finals_ will be, too. Excited for this one.
@@anjodanielsuper definitely understand that it's not MW or BF but I think there may be a happier medium when it comes to TTK so you don't feel like every single person is a bullet sponge.
I gotta say, it's fun to see the limits of old games come back. DICE already had full building destruction before, in Bad Company 2. They scaled it back and are now finally bringing it back in a non-battlefield title. It might not have had as many buildings as this game does, but you could reduce any building to a parking lot if you felt like it
Finally, a PvP game that is actually adding some unique gameplay mechanics. Might get me back into playing pvp. The entire genre has been so stale since Modern Warfare.
You forgot to talk about the little procedural variations of each maps, adding new sections, the train that goes around that you talked about, etc and also the revive mechanic is super original being able to move the statue-like grave of your teammate going to a less compromised place to bring him back up
I mean with this much chaos you gotta have a high TTK. Also btw the rocket launcher appears to be a one shot kill, do with that knowledge what you will
I'm surprised Siege wasn't mentioned because the concept of besting your opponents by using the destructible environments and verticality, along with superior, in-depth map knowledge, is Siege's forte and calling card. If this can be a "middle-ground" between huge, open battlefield maps and the claustrophobic CQB of Siege, then I think they have a winner.
I'm hoping this game goes well because I'm really interested in ARC Raiders and this game will show if Embark can deliver on what they're selling with the trailers
One of the greatest reviews I've seen on a game. Really like what you covered about previous games near the end like splitgate, halo infinite, etc. Hope this game can stay for a long while and do well because it seems super fun.
This reminds me greatly of Ace of Spades! The Minecraft cross Battlefield game with complete freedom over environmental destruction. I’ll definitely be giving it a shot!
As a siege player who loved the mafia event way back when I played, I cant wait to pop these terminals right through the floor and down into our hands instead :)
I wouldn't say Dice gas "Long embraced" destruction. I'd say they teased us with a great version of it in Bad Company then took it away and replaced it with a Some Destruction Somtimes systems. I've still never had an Arnold Schwarzenegger moment like I did walking through a village in Bad Company's campaign and destroying every building and vehicle in it with my underbarrel launcher, grenades and rockets. Then they took it away. They just, took it away. I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying.
I really hope this game does really well. I love cool unique games like this that try and do something different. I loved red faction guerrilla and I'm getting those vibes from the destruction and I'm totally here for it.
it’s been a long time since i was excited for a competitive shooter but i love older battlefield games and love love love environmental destruction! really hope this becomes a great game i can have some fun blowing stuff up in!
This is great, I was literally just talking to some people in the comments on the Trailer for this, wondering why my favourite Content Creators hadn't been covering this game, then mere days later, here you are. The structure of the gameplay and the match modifiers sounds so crazy and unique.
The match modifier things are actually not a new idea, hyperscape had those too and I doubt they invented them either. But yeah an overall innovative package and seems super addictive and a lot of fun. All we need now is wall running and double jumping to be added and I'll be happy
I’ve dropped competitive shooters for about 2 years now since the market is absolutely stale, but this looks like something that will get me back into competitive shooters again, and I really play to the technology gods to bless this game with complete features full support from devs and a blossoming community, this industry needs an aggressive fun ass shooter like old times
Bringing me back to the days of Battlefield 2 Bad Company. Smoke grenades, rockets to the wall of a trailer to arm a device, breaking down walls to expose hiding points, etc.... Welcome back BF2BC2. Welcome back. :-) :-) :-)
My Xbox is sweating just running this video. Can’t wait to see it when it comes out! I saw Jack frags do a video on this awhile back, it was impressive then but now that it seems to be polished a bit more this game is really getting me excited
I love how people marvel at a smooth feeling shooter with destructible environments. Like, we had that 10 years ago with battlefield bad company. The absolute state of the gaming industry. It’s sad.
So glad this game is delivering. the trailer made me wishlist it instantly, so to hear that it's an understatement of a trailer kind of blows my mind really. Excited to play!
I really want this game to do well. As someone who has played only like 2 multiplayer FPS games seriously in over a decade (Battlefield 4 and overwatch) this game has been on my radar since it was announced and looks like a game I will play for a long time.
Looks like Battlefield Bad Company 2 destruction on steroids! The weapons and animations are almost stripped straight out of it, i love it! Loved running around with a shotgun + C4 blowing things up.
When he talked about what to do if people were dug in at the top of a building, my first thought was “blow out the foundations, let it all come crashing down”
Although a single player main, I enjoy when a new fresh multiplayer hits the scene, hopefully with years worth of content and respect for its players. This is the stuff that can and should last the tides where even the avengers fell.
Ok I'm excited about this. It's been a while since last time I saw something with so much potential. There are infinite things that can make it into garbage, and just as many that could make it unforgettable. That recipe is usually what makes the best games we've ever had. Best of luck to the team. Please don't let greed ruin this too. The world is fed up.
This could achieve what PUBG made so popular: every match is the same but different 😅 I still remember talking about pubg-rounds the next day with co-workers. "We were at that house and then ...", "We were sitting in the middle of the zone, when ...", "We landet at xyz with two other groups and then ...". Here it looks like that: "we were on top of ... and then the roof exploded..." , "The cash machine were at location xyz, no chance of winning, but then ..." and so on.
Wow...and I was impressed by Red Faction's Geomod back then because it handled destruction organically, nothing was pre-baked...we now have a new sheriff in town...
Literally just received the email that I got into the closed beta this morning. Was already excited to hop in and play it but this makes me even more hyped!
that looks great in trailers, but I know exactly how the maps look like 15 minutes into the game: there is no map anymore. Remember the old BF4 days with 5000 tickets server where a single round lastet like an hour or so? It will be like that to the power of 10 I guess. ...We'll see how that will work.
Seeing the infinite ammo instantly pulls me in. After playing Overwatch for so long I just can't deal with the mechanic of needing someone else to give me more ammo, it just cripples you from doing pretty much anything if your teammate doesn't want to help you or you pick the class that does it itself. I do hope they add something like a TDM mode to it at some point. I'm the type of run in and shoot die repeat player and I hate having long down times after dying. That being said it looks awesome! I'm definitely trying it out when it comes out, thanks as always for the vid
First thought was "Did they ask the environment design lead from Mirror's Edge to do the maps?" then heard Embark's company history. Yeah, makes sense.
Been waiting for ages to have more levelution and destructive environment in FPS, brings me back memories of Bad Co. 2 C4, Tube Launcher and RPG thru buildings for surprise engagements
immediatly getting 'Hyperscape' vibes from the mobility and longer TTK, combined with what seems to be Bad Company 2 destruction is almost mind bending to me

Because comparing the early version of the game in previews vs release you can tell they changed studios mid development. So everything they had was probably no more.
@@Deliveredmean42 Didn't the Crackdown 3 destruction stuff not happen because the guy who was working on that left to work at Epic Games or something?
This video gave me a lot of nostalgia from the Closed Quarters expansion of BF3. It was the most fun a had playing a BF game.
I've been wondering for years when a game would take the next step in Destructive Environments.
7:25 Finally! The long awaited Skillup vs NoClip beef has begun!
Man really happy about this one, haven't been hyped for a free game for a looong time
I can see the devs who did this game were fans of Battlefield Hardline, it has almost every single tool that game had, the same graphics, etc. I'm so glad to learn about this game
Its so insane how obvious the skill and talent is for these guys formerly from DICE such a good looking project
Been waiting for this since its announcement. So jealous u got to play it
Hey Skill Up - just wanted to say you bring joy to my kids every week. Anytime they hear "GAMERS!" in the living room they rush in and listen intently to your voice. That is all.
This looks awesome, I love destruction and physics in games, we don't get enough of that.
Mom: What are you doing in your room Timmy?
Timmy: Trying to score better on The Finals.
This feels like a breath of fresh air that the onlnie fps needed. I'm definitely interested and I hope this works out for the team that made it.
Always appreciate your videos bud. Best reviewer on the platform. Thanks for all the content!
Best reviewer thats for sure! Another win for Aussies mate.
Can't wait to play the new beta and see how much it has improved!
how did u get to play the alpha ?
Its looks like RB6 Siege and I don't even know man, Team Fortress 2 had a baby? One thing is for sure, THIS IS NEXT GEN DESTRUCTION! 3 Classes with tons of weapons and gadgets, Destruction taken to the EXTREAME, and 4 teams of 3.
_a new contender has appeared_
This looks amazing. I really hope it comes out working and without uber greedy micros. Being free to play is a bit scary though. If it's just cosmetics, then that's fine
We all know it won’t be just cosmetics, F2P always brings a whole marketplace with it.
Excited for this one.
this looks fantastic, the one thing that concerns me is the insanely long TTK but that could change once I've gotten my hands on it
Yeah same. Everything in this video seemed amazing except for the ttk. Felt like 30 bullets to drop someone
I think the TTK is long to encourage outmaneuvering your opponents rather than camp.
Fast TTK wouldnt work in this game.
this game cant not work in a fast tkk, the chaos was going to be frustating instead to be fun
You forgot to talk about the little procedural variations of each maps, adding new sections, the train that goes around that you talked about, etc and also the revive mechanic is super original being able to move the statue-like grave of your teammate going to a less compromised place to bring him back up
My god, that TTK! Still…looks epic! I’m in 😁🤘
I mean with this much chaos you gotta have a high TTK. Also btw the rocket launcher appears to be a one shot kill, do with that knowledge what you will
The weird mix of TTK, weapon style and movement reminds me a LOT of classic Splash Damage games.
I think it's fine for a map with only 12 players. Encourages team co-ordination
@@NickHunter yeah I agree, I quite like the TTK
Levelution is a word that if I never hear it again it would be too soon
I'm surprised Siege wasn't mentioned because the concept of besting your opponents by using the destructible environments and verticality, along with superior, in-depth map knowledge, is Siege's forte and calling card. If this can be a "middle-ground" between huge, open battlefield maps and the claustrophobic CQB of Siege, then I think they have a winner.
The amount of detail in this is incredible, so hyped!
I'm hoping this game goes well because I'm really interested in ARC Raiders and this game will show if Embark can deliver on what they're selling with the trailers
You can never go wrong with a PvP taking place in arenas with spectators cheering you on. I love that about Rocket League
First shooter where i would actually be interested if they had an esport.
No pls, no. Making it competitive will kill any enjoyment of this game.
One of the greatest reviews I've seen on a game. Really like what you covered about previous games near the end like splitgate, halo infinite, etc. Hope this game can stay for a long while and do well because it seems super fun.
EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM
But the second mouse gets the cheese
This reminds me greatly of Ace of Spades! The Minecraft cross Battlefield game with complete freedom over environmental destruction. I’ll definitely be giving it a shot!
This game is going to be monetized into oblivion I give it 2 weeks before everyone forgets it's a shame but it's publisher Nexon ruin games..
If that doesn't happen u own me 1k
7:20 Poor Danny. Also, I hope you guys are friends because I love you both.
10:50 Can we just take a minute to appreciate that door? The door that stands resolute?
Great overview. The potential is high with this one.
@@Fantastic_Mr_Fox Yeah, the lack of wallrunning hurts my inner Mirror's Edge megafan haha
@@takoshihitsamaru4675 Me it's my inner Titanfall 2 megafan
@@Fantastic_Mr_Fox Fair, I dabbled in a bit of Titanfall 2 :)
I’ve been so interested in this game! Thanks for putting it in the spotlight!
I love how people marvel at a smooth feeling shooter with destructible environments. Like, we had that 10 years ago with battlefield bad company. The absolute state of the gaming industry. It’s sad.
I haven't heard you use the term "levelution" before. It's good. 2:58: Okay, THAT is really impressive.
So glad this game is delivering. the trailer made me wishlist it instantly, so to hear that it's an understatement of a trailer kind of blows my mind really. Excited to play!
Finally some innovation in the MP FPS genre. It seems like this deserves to *cough* blow up *cough*.
I can't believe that ARC Raiders was put on the back burner for this.....
“It sort of mirrors the battlefield moments” because its made by ex-dice devs that took part of the frostbite with them when they left after BF5.
When he talked about what to do if people were dug in at the top of a building, my first thought was “blow out the foundations, let it all come crashing down”
Those muzzle flashes whenever a gun is shot are super bright.
Although a single player main, I enjoy when a new fresh multiplayer hits the scene, hopefully with years worth of content and respect for its players. This is the stuff that can and should last the tides where even the avengers fell.
7:24 hard Bad company 2 vibes right there
Innovations like this are what the industry desperately needs more of. Hope the monetization isn't too greedy though.
This could achieve what PUBG made so popular: every match is the same but different 😅
I still remember talking about pubg-rounds the next day with co-workers.
12:16 I had high high hopes till you said "free-to-play".... Damn
Embarks studios has two games I am so stoked for:
The Finals
ARC Raiders
First thought was "Did they ask the environment design lead from Mirror's Edge to do the maps?" then heard Embark's company history. Yeah, makes sense.
Been waiting for ages to have more levelution and destructive environment in FPS, brings me back memories of Bad Co. 2 C4, Tube Launcher and RPG thru buildings for surprise engagements
immediatly getting 'Hyperscape' vibes from the mobility and longer TTK, combined with what seems to be Bad Company 2 destruction is almost mind bending to me
