The Hybrid version of the Fiat 500 EV is simply to fill the gap and provide a transitional platform. The future is electric vehicles. The problem at the moment is that EVs are more expensive than ICE cars and it's easy to think in terms of 3 year ownership - assuming your next new car after this one will be electric. No-one's been 'sold down the river' - the market is simply in the middle of a major realignment that's going to take a number of years.
Of course, BEVs don't offer a solution to every use case but there are many use cases where an ICE car is ridiculous. Those who PCP cars over three years and do no more than 8,000 miles commuting. They're a perfect example of a user who would benefit from the lower cost of ownership of an EV.

So petrol cars clearly dont have a problem burning. However, the facts also show that hybrid cars are even more likely to burn that ICE only cars. Both ICE and Hybrids are thousands of times more likely to burn than an EV. As someone with a Fiat 500 thats 11 year old the reason why Most people wont trade the petrol 500 for an EV version is cost of servicing believe me the old 500 for example to change the gearbox Clutch and fit new Water pump and cambelt at 85 thousand miles cost around £1200 if i was to replace the battery in a 500 EV it would be 10 times that amount of cash , this is why the consumer wont buy the EV version , the Hybrid idea is ok at least that actually gives more power and fuel efficiency so why buy an EV? maybe your names Ernie and you need a new Milkfloat ?

Most people here in Spain live in apartments / flats. There is NO infrastructure to support charging of a lot of EVs.
In the town that I live in (Camposol, Murcia province), the mains electrical infrastructure CANNOT deliver the power required to charge EV's at homes and deliver the normal day to day power required. The cabling won't support it. My max power is 3.7 kw. I have to turn my hot tub OFF when cooking ! I suppose I could have a bunch of solar panels installed, but they will only work during the day, which is typically when I'm driving my car. I could upgrade it to max 5.4 kw for more money !
Then there's the absence of public charging points !
Here in Spain, the towns are a fair way apart and charging points are scarce (at least in this province), so that's another issue.
It not surprising that prices for 2nd hand ICE cars, particularly diesels, are very high here.

There's a new 500e for sale about 200 miles from here, for about $10K off MSRP, if all incentives can be met, which _could_ put at $1,000 below what I paid for my new, full-size base '21 GMC Sierra LWB V6 auto. Given the notoriety of FIAT cars, I have great confidence the battery won't last much beyond the warranty, which would expire at 8 years or 100K miles, and will cost $17K+ to replace. That's thousands of dollars more than the cost of fuel for the GMC over the same time, and doesn't include charging costs. Based on my experience with GMC pickups, I expect my truck to last 300K miles or more before major repairs are needed.
What would the MSRP be for a 500e without all the US federal government coercion (tax credits, carbon credits, compliance credits)?

When the software updates to your new EV leave you totally stranded. I'll give you a wave as I fly past in my old petrol Fiesta or even my new Fiat 500 😂

FIAT 127 Sport was one of the best. 1970s 1049cc and 70bhp (in fact managed almost 95bhp on rolling road).

Health tip - for those that are losing hair - Vitamin B12 - patches or direct injections (not tablets waste of money don't work). Patches are easy and painless - slap on (see what I did there?) quiet a few patches for first week. Then drop down to recommend on box.

Geoff, i was looking at Transporters for a mate the other day. Roughly 12k for a low mileage 21/22 plate, but well over 15 to 16+vat for a similar age diesel with over 50k on clock.
First thot was thats coz nobody wants them, then after thinking about it its more likely the large corporates take the hit on the new cost, then used ones are 'forced' on buyers as a much cheaper alternative to overpriced diesels

Horses for courses, I have a colleague who has brought a Zoe , has a home charger and pretty much just does local driving to the shops etc, and she’s super happy with it. Personally I won’t be changing my diesel anytime soon, due to my long journey’s.

Sue Smith, who does her videos in trilogies, and has started adding her next video link under the existing video, which makes it a lot easier to get to the next one, and circumvents the need for further notifications which don't always land - I recommend it!

Do not forget Sad IQ ,is bringing in another charge for people who have an EV and a drive so they can charge overnight, the new charge will be for having a parking space which could be grass. Along with the other charges for EVs he is bringing in next year to enter the clean air zone.

Ev's are not failling overall, the problem is that main OEM's fail to give us a good compromise between a good car for the asking price, who is crazy to pay 38k for a 20k car?
A LOT of better alternatives for that money, and if you spend a little more you can get a 3x better car overall. The problem is the OEM's not the EV side of things.

In my case.. the EVs are very much the problem.. and as with about 80% of the UK.. EVs are the problem..
