- The new MacBook Pro 14 is here -- with the new M1 Pro processor, it is poised to be a significant upgrade from the MacBook Pro 13 from last year, complete with ports, MagSafe, and many quality-of-life improvements. But that comes at a price -- that I paid -- and now let's go ahead and unbox this powerful portable MacBook. Here are my first impressions after 24 hours (ish) if using it!

Grabbed a 14" with the 10/16 config. It is blowing me away so far. Absolutely destroys my 2020 Intel 13".
Pre-ordered a very similar config.

Won't be here until November 19th at the earliest because I did the 32gb config :(
@@NickdeBey Nice! I didnt think I would need the 32, honestly. You are gonna have a fantastic time with the machine though. I was doing work today with about 20 tabs open in Chrome across a few windows, photoshop open editing photos, Illustrator open creating graphics, youtube playing in the background, and even took a zoom call while running an external monitor -- and the machine was silent and cold to the touch. Coming from an intel 13", I was floored.
Sure for a YT-er a price of €2750 ($3209) is something to look at differently. But man, you can buy 3 great windows laptops for that price. Apple is laughing it's pants off.

I feel we're very similar. This will be my very first MacBook purchase.I nearly got the M1 last year and held off solely for the ports and software support by other developers a year later. I did get an iMac back in 2014 and my first iPad in 2018, so I'm familiar with the operating systems. I'm very excited for this and sad to leave Windows.
I've been getting more and more into the apple eco system (?) First an Iphone then an Ipad. I've been debating on whether or not I should jump into getting a macbook as I've always used windows for everything. But seeing this and all the things that the M1 Pro can do its only convincing me more. Thanks for the great video!
same for me... my first product from apple was ipad pro it's became like an external brain for me hahaha i do everything in it , now i refuse to buy any windows or android tech. the next product i'm excited to get will be a macbook pro 14.

Same here lol. I used to hate Apple, but I had to get an iPad because Android tablets are just meh. The experience is so good that it made me consider buying a MacBook (probably the Air) when I replace my current laptop.
As for iPhones, until they remove that ugly notch, I’m still staying away from them. The SE is nice but the battery is tiny.
I'm still using my 2015 Macbook; seeing the new design actually makes me want to upgrade, but the price is a bit too steep for me :(. Great review like always!
Great video! I got the base 14" with 1 TB storage. The screen size of thr 16" must be nice, but it's much more expensive. Even the base 14" is more than enough for most people I think.

I know this is a year old video but I just paused to comment on remark I just heard: Expensive for "somebody like me,"? MacBooks are expensive PERIOD. Somebody like you or not they are pricey! I always advise anyone who ask to be sure a Mac is what you need. Personally, I don't get any Apple product at full price. It's a personal rule. That is especially true when it comes to the laptop because you'll end up buying accessories due to their never ending redesign. I just ordered mine on Black Friday and I already had additional discounts in place. After purchasing accessories I was still well below retail price before taxes. I sleep better because of it. 😆 Okay, on with the video.
**Good video. Since you asked, I got the 14". At home it is connected to a 34" ultrawide monitor.

Glad I could help! I hope I could provide some useful insight for this one specifically.
I got the exact same config as you when the 14" came out for music production from an all option ticked 2016 15" MBP and was concerned that I might need the extra ram. I didn't. In fact, I think the config I got might have been overkill but sprang for it for peace of mind. These M1 processors really are just that good.
So 16 gb should be okay for intermediate video editing? I ordered this model with 32 gb but I might cancel and get this one
I need the 1TB SSD, no doubt but the 10-core CPU/16-core GPU ? really a big difference between the 8 and 14 cores?

I think it does have that retro look and atleast it also have few retro ports which is really nice in my opinion.
Man i love this machine. i wish i had a proper excuse to actually buy one, but I’m a suuper casual user. I don’t edit photos or videos, i don’t code or program, i don’t blog or vlog…but damn do I still want one bad.
I guess i just don’t internet well, cause everything i do online can be done on an iPhone.

You convinced me to go with this model and not the 16” Max, 64GB 2TB I had preordered. Can’t justify the insane $$$$$ and your video makes sense for most prosumers the base models are more than enough.
I got this in 16in but same specs I'm trying it out initially I was going for the 16in m1 max maxed out other than storage so will see I how I feel about the one I'm trying
I went with the base model. the 8/14. I think the base will do great for me because im still daily driving a base model 2015 mbp. but if it doesnt I can always swap it out for the 10/16.

@DOM ANCA €2750 where I live. So no I can't. But I can get a great Windows laptop for less than €900.

Really great video mate, congrats on the direction and editing. I am torn between the 14" and 16" version since the config I want makes the difference only 200$ between the two. I have to check the 16" in person to see if it's too big or heavy for me or not.

I was shocked when I saw the knife come out.
Prefer the M1max 64 GB ram, minimum 1TB storage.
How is the fan noise when rendering video? Another review said that the fan of the 14inch was spinning maximum during rendering.

I am a PC guy but I love UI consistency on Mac and how they care about their users visual impression. And after that now M1 chip which is extra ordinary but it is not fulfilled until modular M1 chip comes by for desktops.

never too late, you can test it for 30 days and send it back if you want the other one if ordered via Apple. Better you order both so you don't wait a lot again. Then you can just send back the one you decide on after comparing them for some time.
If you can, I would visit an Apple Store or authorized reseller in person. See the size difference of these laptops for yourself.

I feel like the 32gb of ram are more important than the CPU upgrade. If you want to make this machine last 5+ years, 32gb of ram is a must have imo.
You might be right, but the unified RAM technology is a bit different. I don't say it's 2x better than traditional x86 architecture, so you can't calculate double for the same size, but together with a big SSD (that is fast and high on the endurance side as well) the RAM flushing is really good. I would go 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD instead of 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD for this reason and it will give you more future profing in my opinion.
@@gabriellakotainegabor1902 No stop with this bullshit, unified memory is JUST RAM. Literally shitty Intel iGPU’s could be marketed as having “unified memory” because the CPU and GPU share RAM. It’s not magic, the SSD just got so fast that paging is not that noticeable but it will wear out the SSD with time. So stop sheeping around with the term “unified memory” as if it fixes the need for more RAM.
@@owlmostdead9492 Intel's igpu do NOT have any RAM. System memory gets allocated to it...that is why I am saying get bigger SSD cause the endurance and therefore longevity scales linear. Since they are also super fast, it's therefore a valid RAM flushing option.
@@gabriellakotainegabor1902 Yes, the iGPU uses a chunk of RAM, the only difference between apples “unified” memory is that the GPU has access to the entire RAM, it’s not magic that’s literally the only thing.

this macbook is not a tool the tool is the MacBook Air, this is a power horse for the ppl who are creatives and do everything in every category wether your fashion designer to a 3d renderer to even a graphic designer etc etc all in one.

I ordered the base 14. I’ll have to manage my storage space heavily because I usually like to carry around 600GB worth of stuff but I’ll keep it clean and make judicial use of iCloud storage.
