We moved about 6 years ago from Chicago and I love it here, especially the weather. Yes, it gets very hot during summer, but I take it any time over the extreme freezing temps in Chicago. One thing I miss, though, and I never thought I would ever say that, is the rain and thunderstorms. Of course it is the desert and I should have known, but, oh well… Otherwise, I am happy here, but, then again, I am retired, I raised my family, so I don’t have to worry about those, problems

Been in Vegas for 4 years. Nobody ever talks about the extreme dryness, the desert dust allergies, altitude sickness. Maybe because it is pretty dry in California and most people are moving from there. My sister visitied for a week and had a horrible headache the entire time, that she couldn't decide. But if you are from a humid environment. Let me tell you it is DRY your feet will crack, you will wake up in the middle of the night from dry throat, you'll be drinking lots of water throughout the day, you will get dehydrated and wonder you don't feel good. Take lots of electrolytes and keep up with your Vitamins. I really feel like most people wouldn't move to the desert if it wasn't for being so close to Cali. We have experienced many groups of people and friends and have discovered that people have too many boundaries (no vulnerability), but they want to gossip, and they are distant.

Loved living in Las Vegas! We lived right around your area as well. As for Asian markets: Island Pacific Seafood Market is a large Filipino market with other international goods as well. Then heading East toward the strip on Flamingo is La Bonita, which has lots of hispanic goods. Ron's Market is small, but they have some European goods. Just a short 5 min drive South on the 215 is Seafood City which is a huge Asian market similar to 99Ranch.
