You have listed many valid points. I was just there last Friday & my realestate agent showed me 10 homes in 3 hours and we covered the entire furthest west, north and central N/W. I mapped the strip to be no more than 25-30mins from every property. You want super spread out? Come to LA… I wish I was 20-30mins from my friends here but the sad truth is with LA traffic, commutes to see them are 1-1.5hr drives. I will have to watch your other vid on the positives. Thx
I have just relocated to Las Vegas March 2024, and I have to say you are right on-point with your 14 reasons as to why a person may want to consider Not moving here. I have been looking to purchase a condo in and around the Summerlin area, and I have to say not only are the condos overpriced, but it is a fact that people selling their properties Do Not renovate them. They are selling garbage and listing them for top dollar. Why? Because Las Vegas has very little inventory. Even when the inventory was at 11,000 homes on the multiple listing seller’s did upgrade their properties before listing them for sale. Most condos in the 350k range are total gut-jobs. Another reason why I would never pay top dollar for total pieces of junk. I am not from California where I sold my property for 1.5 million, and think I am getting a bargain in this town at 500k only to renovate for another 75k and still have plenty of money left over. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you, Robert. I hear you and prices have definitely gone up in Las Vegas over the past 4 years. I hope you find a great place to rent or buy and please don't hesitate to reach out if I can help in any way!
Las Vegas has mostly retired people living there from all over the United States look at Florida that storm wiped them out I heard Nevada is one of the best states to live in very low taxes 🤔
I am retired and moved here 8 years 13:29 ago,and everything you said is true.Me and my wife love Nevada but,we are considering relocating further out of Las Vegas.
Dallas TX - nicer weather than Houston (brutal humidity), has big Vietnamese community I would assimilate to, diverse, no casinos in TX Utah or Hawaii, not as seedy as Vegas or Brooklyn 'the International Express', Bronx in unsafe NY, cleaner "environment" than LA and SF. Elon Musk $$$ via The Boring Company is drilling / tearing up LV. Don't live in USA!
Ms. Moreno...thank you for taking the time to be so personable to share information for people thinking about moving to the Las Vegas area. Over the years I have gone through Las Vegas, once as I was using my motorcycle in the course of taking a cross country trip , at that time from California. Also many years later just driving there for a short visit to the city to enjoy the attractions with my wife. The points you bring up are very well thoughout and presented and should really help people considering a permanent move to really consider the important considerations you have shared. Again thank you for being so helpful and I hope people will take the time to plan accordingly with your points in mind!
We have the same temp thing on the other end of the spectrum. -40 for the low and -40 for the high (or colder) for weeks on end. Extreme heat and extreme cold are both brutal.
The high crime rate ~ low lifes ~ the bad drinking water~ and blocked in traffic for any reason is just not happening ~ people who move there claim their happy there but reality is they got trapped there. You have someone even recommending to gamble in the morning.which is the equivalent of smoking ~ there’s just no good reason to gamble that’s for ignorant people. I give Las Vegas a 1 star ~ low wages, low quality people, low quality water, low quality justice system it’s corrupt and broken beyond repair.
😅...don't leave out: #16. Low school test scores. CCSD is not known for educating students for colleges and/or universities. High schools graduated students just so they could work minimum wage jobs in the casinos; and, #17. Comparatively Low Wages - that's why native Las Vegans can't compete in the housing market with out of state buyers who pay cash or have huge down payments. Current home prices mean average monthly payments are ranging from $2400-$3000 per month. Home prices have more than doubled since 2020 while local wages have not. It is not uncommon for an employer to offer minimum wage (+/-) plus Tips as a beginning salary! Tips (from the public) are built into the salary structure for many, many jobs. There are some regular skill wage jobs that -still- only offer $12-$15 per hour to start. In some fields, it is very, very rare to earn $20+ per hour.
Now if you're down in a place like Tennessee I had to go to Once in the summer and it was 98° with 100% humidity at night that is hot sounds like you're breathing hot water air but at least in Vegas because it's dry it's not hot like I experienced in Tennessee with the humidity that was insane
Hello :)- Great video and very informational as a resident of VEGA$ for over 13 years which is a nice place to visit but not the best place to live since the Pandemic. Along with everyone that decided to move to Las Vegas from California and NOW the cost of living is now ranked up there with California so anyone looking to save a ton of money can now dismiss that idea!!! Kudos :)-
I've lived in Vegas for over 60 years in every part of the city,I've kept track of all the horrific crimes that have taken place near me that includes 10 suicides and 15 homicides including the murder of my wife's sisters daughter and four homicides in the upscale apartment complex I resided in the last 1.5 years. Crime, greed, lack of doctors and temperatures of 120+degrees makes Vegas truly a Hell on earth! Warning Don't move here you'll be sorry!
Fender bender car accidents. I’ve lived in Las Vegas for the past 7 years. I’ve seen over 170 accidents on the local streets. No exaggeration. Needless to say, car insurance is expensive here.
Hi there! I lived in Vegas for 2 years or so & I loved it! Although that was in the early 2000s, It seemed clean & there was always "something to do". The prices were low (Housing, food etc) I live/stayed in a Motel on Boulder Hwy and was paying $200 a week for a room WITH a full kitchen & bathroom. That was great back then, so I can imagine what it is now. BUT to compare with California (Where i live now) where motels are nearly $100 a night WITHOUT anything but a room and a bathroom, no kitchen or anything I always look back and think "should I have stayed there in Vegas?" Of course i was much younger then too. In 2000, i was 34 years old, im now 58, so Im not so much interested in "Nightlife" anymore. I'm also disabled now and on SSI. I ask myself "could I survive in vegas in my situation?" Probably not! So it can go both ways, If you're young, it would probably be great, but once you're in your 40s or 50s, it would probably get boring. Don't get me wrong, I loved living in vegas! But was having a hard time surviving there because i had lost my job at the time (Which is why i was staying in the motel with my severance pay). I had an "offer" to move to california (For private reasons) so I did, but sometimes i wish i hadn't. I now live in a small area that is literally in the middle of nowhere in northern calif where there's literally nothing. Anyway thank you for this video & i will be watching your other video: "15 Reasons Why I LOVE Living in Las Vegas (as a local)" next...... Thank you again!!
I consider las vegas a canary in coalmine area if, say, we enter deep recession, energy and water shortages occur, etc. Beware of desert areas for long-term living
This is a very well done, professional video. Very Informative. As a person who has visited LV over a hundred times, the information presented here is very valuable and I would recommend this vid to anyone considering a move.
Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it. I put in alot of effort into making these videos informative and valuable! Glad you found it valuable!
That’s right Vegas doesn’t have its own primary water and neither does Arizona- they both have to borrow water 💦 from Colorado how scary is that and if ever there was an major emergency California would be served first as they are the primary receiver of water from Colorado
4 queens and Apache (Binions) don’t have resort fees. There are a few others but those are the main ones that I know of. They’re downtown but I kind of like downtown more these days. More walkable and generally cheaper amenities.
Las Vegas has the least expensive and best resort hotels in America. Even with the resort fees, hotel rooms in Las Vegas are a massive bargain compared to anywhere else. If the hotel room prices are to much for you to handle, stay home.
@@jerryoconnor9227 "If the hotel room prices are too [ed. - "too" not "to"] much for you to handle, stay home." She / He wasn't complaining about the room prices; if so your "stay home" suggestion would be valid. It was / is the Resort Fees which are totally bogus AND creeping higher than inflation which is a common consensus -- no matter how much of a bargain your classy hotel's room charge might be.
Thank you for your video. I'm old as dirt. I used to own a time share behind the strip. The foods I used to eat are 3x the cost now. I don't visit because of that. Sorry for the pup and the heat. That's crazy heat. But anyway, thanks for your vid.
I lived there briefly in 2007 and ran back to Los Angeles. I found Vegas boring, and wasn't into gambling. I hated it there. Don't care for either city now. Left Los Angeles in 2017. Lol
There are good off strip hotels and casinos that have good and reasonable food and drink prices. Local residents can take advantage of them. One advantage living in Las Vegas is you don't have to pay state taxes. As it was mention in the video .They get you in other ways
You’re spot on. Been there lived there for a couple years. I was 29 now 53 I have to say I hated it after a while it didn’t feel the same when I moved there. I do like it again finally but wouldn’t live there full time, maybe a second house. I believe I’m older and wiser being 29 and moving to Vegas wasn’t the best decision Any way love that you’ve told the truth about things people should know before they go. Kudos love your video
Considering LasVegas has become such urban sprawl , one could about figure or consider using Am Track and commuting back east for actually a very reasonable cost and be able to enjoy the lower costs of housing for example and it might possibly be a draw in cost.
I've lived in Henderson/Las Vegas for 10 plus years and I love it, don't need to hear the 15 reasons why you might not like it here.... you could find 15 reasons to not live in any place on this planet
Awesome video, I live in North Dakota we have as many frigid months as ya'll have heat months. When I was stationed in Cali in 98 I'd go to Vegas every other weekend, It was AWESOME. Now just crazy, but fun to visit.Darrin Former Marine
Here are a few problems in your video: I'm almost forty and in a few years I'll start thinking about having kids? I decided to live on the strip to be close to everything....oh, no, traffic and construction! If you live away from the strip, you see almost no traffic, almost no construction, and you are close to the commercial center of your region so you rarely venture into yhe strip. You can have kids here without seeing much more adult entertainment than you would in NYC. But schools and hospitals are terrible.
It’s strange that these people look at past offenses to try and put people’s lives upside down, but ignore the deadly drunk driving and high crime. They like to ignore the real problems ( we are not back in 1955)
She skipped #13, which is the most important - Water. If it stays at the same heat level as the past few years have been, in 4 years Las Vegas will have a Bad water problem. And that will kill the real estate values.
I saw a car flipped at Decatur & Charleston. Couldn’t figure out how they got going fast enough to do it. I saw a car to the rear quarter panels in a phone window at Jones & Desert Inn.
The heat did it for me. We visited Vegas 7/5 to 7/8 of this year on Sunday the 7th it was 120 new record heat. Couldn't do anything besides stay indoors.
the cost of living in Las Vegas is cheaper than in Massachusetts by a lot but it will go up because of supply and demand because people will see that it's cheaper and move there because of it. The only way for the city and state to alleviate that is to allow people to build more homes regardless of size even if a builder wants to build a "tiny home community" because more houses means cheaper houses
Hi Olga I guess if it gets that hot you have to be which I've been there many times in the summer you have to do like to do in Phoenix practically live in your swimming pool and make sure you got a shade cover so I could deal with that part
I've lived in New Orleans and the surrounding suburbs. We have all of that and then some. 1. Heat, add 60 to 80 percent humidity. 2. Crime. 3. Extremely limited job market. 4. Hurricanes and flooding. 5. Drinking (Bourbon Street). 6. Poor infrastructure. 7. We are on every list at the bottom for being the worst, for everything. I would trade my state for a life in Las Vegas. At the age of 57 that door is starting to close, and I really hate Louisiana.
back in the early/mid 90's i thought about buying some of the empty land like where south point is, was cheap recall plywood signs 100 acres for $90k, seeing now if had i wouldn't be working. do miss when there was dirt between the communities. the airport was a small building believe the maverick tour building. the road traffic sucks but way designed way better than most of so cal traffic. wish was lot cheaper for rooms, eats, buffets. was a reason would visit when lived in ca. other places that is shocking for growth, laughlin, bullhead city, az, or pahrump where i bought, recall when pop was barely 10k and exploded last 6 yrs, meet people who sold out vegas and moved to pahrump.
I was in Vegas a few months ago, the last time i was there was about 12 years ago. I absolutely noticed the lack of grass. Thats all i kept thinking was i need to see grass😅wheres the grass.
So where did you end up selling them a home? Everything is easier to to get to from west Desert inn ( going down hill) but if you live on the strip the shot glass buildings or the panorama or Martin would be my choice.
Please move to Las Vegas! Look for reasons to move here, stay away from the negative. Las Vegas has so much to offer and there is so much more to Las Vegas than the Strip.
Yes my neighborhood has real grass and we’re only allowed to water it on certain days. Las Vegas is now limiting the size of swimming pools as well. Nothing too over the top.
I'm former Las Vegas resident. It's very to get to your job . If your working in one of the big hotels on the strip. Due to traffic and tourism. I didn't own a vehicle while while l lived in Las Vegas . Sometimes it's very hard to get home on the public bus on the strip . Because the buses are over full with people. Sometimes l.will have three public buses pass me by because they where over full. In order to get a good paying job at one of the big hotels on the strip or Fremont Street. You had to join the union . Called culinary workers union. Pay $100 per month for union dues. What l did t appreciate was how they will boycott and demonstrate with the big hotels owners that wouldn't sign with . Business doesn't have the right to force themselves on another business .
I lived there for 18 years, and I saw the same places that were new in the early 90s and, by early 2010s, saw the deterioration due to building the bigger and brighter. What they became instant slums. Office buildings that looked very upscale became boarded up and graffiti. This is a place where it takes two years to deteriorate, whereas most cities it would take decades. The affordable places to eat a three dollar steak dinner shot up to $8. This is not a place where you can live paycheck to paycheck or just make a living on one. The city that seemed to have a lot of promises in the 90s had become a dystopia. Moving there back then was like moving to Detroit in the 50s.If it has changed, it isn't for the better. One of the many complaints was that it lacks culture, and I'm sure it's still that way
homeless people have trouble surviving the heat, so they tend to stay underground or go somewhere else with shade as extreme heat are not popular with homeless people
I'm from east LA so everything but the school district and food has been an upgrade. Even the worst schools in LA are better funded than the best schools in vegas. And im all for homeschool or hybrid schooling except my son is autistic and I'm not equipped to give him the education he needs. One thing i miss he had an amazing dedicated teacher in CA here shes not terrible but you can tell teacher is overwhelmed and not passionate about her job anymore.
I use to live in Las Vegas 20 years ago I came back to visit and it's not the same, it's seems like Detroit the type of people that moved in, I love the heat, but the inter city people that have moved in, it's like a big ghetto 😢 its really sad, l love Las Vegas I moved out to go to China for work came back and it's now a Detroit type in The desert.,God bless Las Vegas 😢

As a former resident of Las Vegas, I can honestly say I Will NEVER live there again.
How come?
And where do you live now?
@@patrickphuong2609 at this point your saying move to europe?
I lived in AZ and would go to Vegas. I do agree with your opinions. Vegas life is only for SOME people.
We have the same temp thing on the other end of the spectrum. -40 for the low and -40 for the high (or colder) for weeks on end. Extreme heat and extreme cold are both brutal.
one of the 15 thing would be the high cost of rent and mortgage.
The temperature alone will keep me at bay. I now ONLY go to Vegas in the first 3 or the last 3 months of the year.
Weather in Reno is better. Not as hot.

Clark Co school system is about the worst out there.
Kudos :)-
If youve only lived there 13 years, then youre part of the problem that youre complaining about dummy.
Smeh not cool
So many bad and inconsiderate drivers it's the worst in the nation perhaps the world!
I’ve been to Phoenix when it was 100 at 0800 am. It didn’t feel so bad it was a dry heat.
I like going to Las Vegas in my rental car seeing the Strip from a Distance!😂
You are spot on with your analysis. We spend our winters out in Summerlin in retirement. In summer it's back to our lake house in Wisconsin.
I was looking at hotel rooms for May 17th weekend. Prices were insane. Now I know why. Makes for interesting people watching.

Whenever I visit from Reno, the first question I get is if its hot in Reno. No, it’s actually too cold. Nobody is ever happy, lol.
I consider las vegas a canary in coalmine area if, say, we enter deep recession, energy and water shortages occur, etc. Beware of desert areas for long-term living
Exactly 💯 Vegas will implode on itself ironically

Las Vegas running dangerous low on water the Colorado river system is on brink of collapseing
That’s right Vegas doesn’t have its own primary water and neither does Arizona- they both have to borrow water 💦 from Colorado how scary is that and if ever there was an major emergency California would be served first as they are the primary receiver of water from Colorado
Resort fees (at hotels) keep me from going to Las Vegas.
4 queens and Apache (Binions) don’t have resort fees. There are a few others but those are the main ones that I know of. They’re downtown but I kind of like downtown more these days. More walkable and generally cheaper amenities.
Resort fees are gravy money
Yes that's ridiculous. I stayed at the Sahara and when they charged that extra fee I was like good lord 😂
Good luck getting a "nice weather" day to be outside in Vegas - most of the times the wind won't let you to enjoy those "comfortable temperatures" .
Especially when it's °117 outside and the wind blows hot air and sand simultaneously 👍🏼😃
I'm a 55 year native & I detect no lies from this young lady.
Lol
Hopefully more people from California feel the same way you did and they head back to California. Fingers crossed 🤞
Kudos
love your video
What you are exposing is personal problems which can happen anywhere
Considering LasVegas has become such urban sprawl , one could about figure or consider using Am Track and commuting back east for actually a very reasonable cost and be able to enjoy the lower costs of housing for example and it might possibly be a draw in cost.

Your presentation was awesome. Great information. ❤
Here are a few problems in your video:
I'm almost forty and in a few years I'll start thinking about having kids?
I decided to live on the strip to be close to everything....oh, no, traffic and construction!
If you live away from the strip, you see almost no traffic, almost no construction, and you are close to the commercial center of your region so you rarely venture into yhe strip. You can have kids here without seeing much more adult entertainment than you would in NYC. But schools and hospitals are terrible.
Great vid. Lots of reasonable advice. Thank you.
Love your videos and all the information to at you are sharing ❤
I saw a car flipped at Decatur & Charleston. Couldn’t figure out how they got going fast enough to do it. I saw a car to the rear quarter panels in a phone window at Jones & Desert Inn.
The heat did it for me. We visited Vegas 7/5 to 7/8 of this year on Sunday the 7th it was 120 new record heat. Couldn't do anything besides stay indoors.
It's been a hot one this week! ;)
the cost of living in Las Vegas is cheaper than in Massachusetts by a lot but it will go up because of supply and demand because people will see that it's cheaper and move there because of it. The only way for the city and state to alleviate that is to allow people to build more homes regardless of size even if a builder wants to build a "tiny home community" because more houses means cheaper houses
Excellent description of Vegas
So Hot you can fry an egg on the sidewalk but this is dry heat and So is the end of a welding torch
That’s your fault! You just said there’s a freeway exit outside YOUR apartment and YOU keep missing the exit. That’s insane
They just added the exit within the last 2 months so it takes some getting used to. It’s like a new shortcut in a maze!
She’s obviously NOT the ambassador of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce!!! 😮
Your just jealous because your NOT 😳
Haha I used to go to those EDC events in June. Inside the crowd it would feel even hotter
Hi Olga I guess if it gets that hot you have to be which I've been there many times in the summer you have to do like to do in Phoenix practically live in your swimming pool and make sure you got a shade cover so I could deal with that part
Appreciate your info
Las Vegas has got a new name it's being called East LA
Too much traffic now, in my opinion. I also miss the good buffets. They don’t have to offer them anymore. Same in Reno, the casinos are busier now.
I lived in Las Vegas for 30 years I was even homeless in Las Vegas I hate that place I never want to live there again

I was in Vegas a few months ago, the last time i was there was about 12 years ago. I absolutely noticed the lack of grass. Thats all i kept thinking was i need to see grass😅wheres the grass.
Yes, the city is trying to cut down on water usage so alot of the real grass is being replaced with desert landscaping and turf.
Love your informative videos, i looked at Vegas a couple years ago but I think its gone to big for me.
Hi. I think you skipped reason #13, which looked related to the water issue??
So where did you end up selling them a home? Everything is easier to to get to from west Desert inn ( going down hill) but if you live on the strip the shot glass buildings or the panorama or Martin would be my choice.
Please move to Las Vegas! Look for reasons to move here, stay away from the negative. Las Vegas has so much to offer and there is so much more to Las Vegas than the Strip.
Are there any water restrictions?
One of the many complaints was that it lacks culture, and I'm sure it's still that way
This was an excellent video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Homeless and temperatures over 110f really go together?
homeless people have trouble surviving the heat, so they tend to stay underground or go somewhere else with shade as extreme heat are not popular with homeless people
I wouldn't live anywhere else. Viva Las Vegas!!
Thanks, Olga 😊
I'm from east LA so everything but the school district and food has been an upgrade. Even the worst schools in LA are better funded than the best schools in vegas.
