Instead of a mudroom, you could build a 3 season-closed porch. Just think, more storage, more wood available on the porch, kick snow off shoes on the porch, and with a door on the porch, no wind blowing into your house when you open the door.

Have you thought about cutting a 3” hole in the corner of the floor near your inverter , putting pvc pipe there and run that into your insulated battery box? Then put a small 12v fan inside the pipe to pull warm air into the battery box. Use a thermostat inside the box that makes it cut off when it gets to 40 degrees F. That would likely make your batteries perform better and won’t take much energy.

381 videos! You'll be at 400 in no time!
I peeked back at some of your old videos. My! How things have changed!
Upgraded cabin, well and water system that works for you, solar power and battery bank, no more mud! (more or less), outbuildings and storage galore plus a beautiful chicken coup, an amazing garden, high tunnel and orchard. Plus you now have Bandit's ponds in the bog thanks to his digging and waterworks that has been successful enough to draw the gorgeous cranes and other wildlife. And bees!
What once was a messy lot with a not quite finished plain little cabin is now a beautiful and productive homestead. 🙂

Suggestion for your orchard. Since your trees are dwarf varieties, consider making a structure with an A frame roof, with removable covering. Tarps maybe. Something that would allow snow to slide off maybe or would, at least be reachable for removal. When snow season is over remove and store the cover and leave the supports. Just a thought with a lot of maybees from a Mid Atlantic snow hater. 😂😊

I don't know if you use this already, but you can spread a little bit of wood ash on top of the snow in the garden, to make it melt faster in the spring. As you have propably pretty acid soil as well, with bog and that kind of forest, it will raise the garden PH as well.
This is one of those old wives advices (at least my granny used it and propably generations before her) and it really works. You don't need a lot of ash on top of the snow, to make it a little dirty and accelerate its melting speed a lot. The pure white snow reflects the spring sun heat away, while the dirty snow catches the heat and melts so fast.

Really enjoyed the rundown on the homestead - it's so impressive what you've accomplished in a relatively short time! The improvements have such a professional level to them; it's so obvious you've put quality and caring into everything you've done; you must be so proud! Exciting to think about the move to a bigger place, sad to be leaving the sweet little place behind, but you have experience that will build an even bigger and better place where you'll both just thrive with your fur babies 😊 So many good things to look forward to - proud of you guys!!🤗 Stay safe, be happy❤

I have been with you guys since the move from the Lower 48 and it has been such a journey. Your place really has a nice working order for everything & every season. I just noticed the convex and outhouse were color matched to your house as well. Nicely done. That you have all this and can still enjoy your Alaskan adventures is the key to your success. And key for all of us enjoy the vlogs. Simple life=work hard, play hard. Well done guys.

I am always amazed at how BIG your little space seems to be. Our off-grid home is about the same as yours, but I couldn't imagine doing all that you do in it. Especially with two large pups and a cat! It is a little sad to see you leave it, but we are excited to see your new adventure up north! Great video, as usual, and looking forward to the next!

Amazing! I have been watching you two since you moved up to Alaska. Seeing everything you have done over the past four years has shown me just how easy it is to live with the absolute necessities. Thank you for taking the time to show us the house because you guys did answer about five questions I have had over the years. We are all excited to see the move and the development of your new house. I just hope I can find it on Google Maps as easily as I found this current house. As a pilot, I just find it fun to find my favorite RUclipsrs homes. I have never shared your address with anyone. I have always planed on flying my plane up there to Willow and taking you two for a plane ride like you guys did once to your cabin. I hope the new home has a small airport near by so I can still fly you guys. Thanks for four years of great videos.
