I love the "Dont Talk to me or my son" Energy that the Warlord Titan has standing next to the teeny Contemptor Dreadnought. Also if the pile of shame is still an issue, the Titan still only counts as one!
This seems a really cool kit to build. I really enjoy building resin aircraft kits but I’m not sure I could handle this bad boy: living vicariously through you is great fun though!
That's exactly what I was hoping for! It's a crazy kit, price aside, not everyone has the space to actually make it... but hopefully they can share that experience through this series :)
Ahhh.... Seeing the OG dreadnought, before they turned into the Furioso pattern. I think I've still got my 40K one in a box somewhere. I found my OG Guard Sentinel a few months ago, still in the box. That was a blast from the past! To go with the Rogue Trader vibe, he should definitely be a Crimson Fist!
A little tip for if you should have to use that drill bit again. Instead of having to go back and forth forever with measuring your depth, put your magnet side by side against the drill bit and apply a strip of masking tape around the bit, using the magnet as the height guide. That way, you can drill just as deep as you need to without having to check constantly.
Guy I just have to say it has been a real pleasure watching you grown as a channel a family and a creator and presenter !!!! And I am looking forward to continued growth and success !!
Have you thought of running LEDs all over the model before final assembly and painting? This model looks like it has a ton of places intended to have lights, and a mix of SMD and round LEDs would make this even more spectacular.
I think the thing you, guy, and all of our viewers are not realizing but you are basically creating a tutorial for this massive build with troubleshooting solutions for common issues with a build this big and expensive. Keep going my dude!
52Miniatures is a true delight. His works are incredible, poetic, and capture story telling like I've never seen. I'm so glad to see you include him here (as well as miniwargaming has). All the best Guy, I'm hoping (against the odds) you'll join us at Adepticon next week in Chicago, but I know it's a long flight across the pond, and you've got little ones.
So having seen this and now binge watching your videos I’m sad about all that cool detail that you’d have too do weird wire work like those old school medical skulls too see !
If you haven't already you should get yourself an activator for the superglue! no point in having to wait around clamping it when you can make it set immediately... you can also experiment with superglue and baking powder it also makes it set immediately but can also be used to fill in small gaps if needed
I recently got some super glue and activator from my father in law; he installs double glazing and cladding for a living so it's industrial strength stuff. Works out to just over a quid for the glue (50 gram bottle) and a 200ml can of activator. Only problem is it has to be bought in bulk but its still only £15 total for 10 cans of activator and 10 bottles of super glue.
I only just discovered this channel TODAY....and man....I already can't wait to see this behemoth of a build be complete. This was been a wonderful playlist to discover you by. Definitely subscribing.
Hey Guy. Far from being a model expert like you, but seeing you hammer that pin in reminded me of the renovation I'm doing and a little tool that might help you. Where I live we call it a nail chaser. It's pretty much a metal spike looking thing with a concave tip on one end. You place the concave part on a nail sticking out, and hammer that sucker in. Helps get that nail flush into the wall so a little bit of putty hides it, but most importantly: it prevents you from leaving hammerhead shaped marks on your wall.
If you stick the gel super glue on your paint shaker for a few seconds it makes it runny enough to flow smooth. No need for banging or hand shaking. Very useful if you haven't touched it for a while as well.
It’s looking super cool mate! I learnt about the need for tape between glued item and clamp the hard way many moons ago… Glad to see you head off that little drama
Old Epic models make great holographic displays for communicators or targeters if painted as wireframe. A few folk do extra shelf inserts for DETOLF but they are easy to make with the right size of acrylic and wire rope clamps.
This video's reminded me of how many people from as many walks of life you can meet with our hobby, all coming together one way or another and it's just amazing :)
"to stop it sticking to the clamps, I also stuck a bit of masking tape to the top of the magnets" that's genius! I'll definitely give that a go next time I magnetize a model.
A handy tip for thick super glue, what I will do for storing and using the stuff. What I will do before I use it is I'll loosen the lid squeeze some of the air out and close it up again, then I'll store it lid down before using it so the glue is in the end you want before I use it (this makes a vacuum). Then I'll use what I need and when I'm finished take advantage of the vacuum I made from the first step to draw the glue in the neck back into the bottle and it's ready to put away.
On the topic of the Deolfs, I was originally going to get one or two of those for my minis, but between the inability to fiddle with their shelves and the utter nonsense that was the building instructions, I ended up going instead for a glass-door version of a Billy bookshelf, switching the shelves out for glass ones so that on the lower levels you can still see what's there from standing height. (also you can add more shelves so I added I think two more shelves than what it came with to give 8 shelves, with adjustable height for my foot tall reaper stuff)
Went to warhammer world and I saw guy at the convention. I just asked if it was him and said hi, (Yankee hat green hoodie) didn't want to interrupt you too much since it looked like you were waiting on food. Had great fun and picked myself up an Inquisitor. Can't wait to see what you do with yours!
