I agree on the Stipe thing. That whole fight is a middle finger to the whole HW division, as well to the fans. Age isn’t that big of a deal to me though. Randy Couture, Glover Texiera, and a couple others are good examples. Stipe doesn’t deserve a title shot though. Plain and simple.
Crazy thing is that Pereira is older than Jon. Jon is also the same age as DC and Lyoto Machida when they gave him the opportunity that he’s refusing to give Aspinall. His excuses are thin.
I was a HUGE stipe fan. But the UFC needs to unify the heavyweight title. This man deserves it, if Jon just wants to fight Stipe, then strip Jon and simply make this man the undisputed champ. Jon fights Stipe, Tom goes on to defending his title for the SECOND TIME.
It’s kind of contradictory to call stipe a washed up Joe Biden who’s coming off a knockout loss and then in the same sentence say I respect stipe lol. You wouldn’t make that comparison if you truly respected him Tom

Totally agree. It's unpleasant to watch these former champions get beat up by younger, better fighters. • Meantime, the click is ticking on the peak fight window for presumptive champions like Tom Aspinall.
True but this doesn’t apply as much with the freaks of the sport aka heavyweights, many heavy weight champs were over 36 years old. Dc, stipe, Francis, fedor, George Foreman I mean I could go on but you get the point
Stipe isn’t 43 yet, he’s 41. His last 8 fights were all title fights, and he hasn’t lost to anyone he hasn’t beat other than Struve. This whole “Stipe is washed” bit is a joke. Tony Ferguson has been knocked out, submitted and turned into hamburger in his last 8 fights. I’d rather see Tom vs Stipe at this point, just so he can stfu about it.

You don't want to see the interim champion fight the legendary champion but you'd rather see a great fighter that's been out for 4 years that lost horribly in the last fight go against Jones? Honestly bizarre. Stipe deserves respect but he shouldn't be having a title shot given the circumstances
@@ds1448 Nah, people like YOU are bizarre. You think made up titles are what makes fights good? The best fight is whatever sells the most. Whatever sells the most is what people want to see the most. @@prehistoricwatergun0136 that's even better. I do want Jon to pop for something afterwards tho, still would be comedy gold as we watch ppl debate if bones is the goat or a doping hack for the years to come.
We’re going to run into an issue. Jon and aspinall aren’t going to fight for years and then we’re going to have to have the age old argument of if “jones was past his prime”
The reason I loved UFC and MMA in general is because the best fight the best. There is no rampant abuse of cherry-picking like boxing. But now we have UFC putting on a fight no one wants to see. It feels like they are trying to socially engineer the “biggest fight of the century” and it ain’t working. Stipe has been inactive so long, no one cares. If Jon wins, it means nothing. The fight is nothing but a payday bonus for long-standing “company guys”. Legacies should be made organically and authentically not by bookers who want to squeeze the most juice out of an orange. Anything less is uncivilized…
I really don't see how anybody can say Jones ISNT ducking Tom. You can't legitimately say Jones actually thinks a 43 year old stipe is gonna be a good fight.. Jones has 6 years on him. In my eyes it's no different then Paul going after Tyson. It's sad.
Jones holding the belt hostage while Tom could be having title defense fights is criminal. Jon is such a bitch for this, his whole career he has fought older guys but when he’s older he wants to fight people still older and 5 years from a fight(which he got knocked out in). It’s crazy even getting to have this fight be for the belt.
Stipe is the second best HW in history, but Aspinall is right... Even if he won (some how) then what's next? His time has passed. Jones needs to fight the interim Champion.
I feel sorry for Tom... He doesn't want to talk shit but Jon and Stipe make it hard to be humble 😂 Holding up the division while the rest of the young heavyweights hurt each other
Last thing Jon would wanna do is fight this young hungry lion. But I’ve doubted Jones before and underestimated his will to win through complete narcissism. Guess it takes that to create an undefeated monster.
Does the AFC in football get to choose who they want to play in the Superbowl? Does the American League in Baseball get to chose who they play against in the National league for the World Series? Schedule the match, ask Jon if he's scared and wants to forfeit, and then let him. They then place a loss on his record and he let's go of the HW Championship title. He also goes down in history as the 1st forfeiture due to fear.
Stepe is 42. Jon Jones is 37. Aspinal is 31. So they blame Jones for fighting “an old man” so that Tom can fight an “old man”. The age difference between Jones and Miocic is smaller than Aspinal vs Jones. So this argument is kinda meh
Seriously. I have no idea why Dana and the UFC isn’t throwing their power behind Aspinall. Instead they have him defending the interim HW title. It’s ridiculous. IMO Aspinall is the HW champion. Not Jones who’s had one fight at HW.
This makes no sense to me. John and Tom are clearly the two best heavyweights walking the earth right now. This is also the money fight, you can’t tell me people would be more excited to see Stipe over Tom.
Tom, these two that you speak about are actually Legends who paved the road for you. How about you let them fight and have some dignity and respect and class and when they are done, you’ll have your turn to prove your words.
He defends his fake title against Curtis Blaydes and hes ready to write off Stipe. Stipe beat Daniel Cormier, Francis Ngannou, Junior Dos Santos, Mark Hunt, Fabricio Werdum, Allister Overeem, and a much younger Arvolski. This guy has less than ten fights in the ufc and the disrespect this guy is spewing is unbelievable.
Hes not wrong! Stipe lost his last fight, he hasn't fought in 4 years how tf does he get the next title shot!?!? What tf is dana thinking!? UFC needs some serious changes! There are so many great fighters that aren't getting their chance at a title fight, its bs! Every champ should be REQUIRED 2 title defense fights a year if they are injured they get stripped and then when they are healthy they are the next fight. Letting jones keep the title for 20 months is ridiculous and ruins people's careers! Or doing multiple rematchs! Why!?? There are so many great fighters that deserve a chance!

This aged quite well. Stipe was slow af (age) and timid to engage (ring rust).
I like how everyone acting like Jon is 25
I thought the same thing. He's 37 haha.
Through jones entire career he fought old fucks

Schedule the match, ask Jon if he's scared and wants to forfeit, and then let him. They then place a loss on his record and he let's go of the HW Championship title. He also goes down in history as the 1st forfeiture due to fear.
Bones vs Tom would obviously be more exciting.

Everything he said here aged perfectly its a joke how aspinall is being robbed of his glory
Jones vs pareira would be the nicest match..
Stepe is 42. Jon Jones is 37. Aspinal is 31. So they blame Jones for fighting “an old man” so that Tom can fight an “old man”. The age difference between Jones and Miocic is smaller than Aspinal vs Jones. So this argument is kinda meh
Fr tho 6 years is still a big gap

It's the HW division. Aspinall is gonna get knocked out eventually just like everyone else.
He defends his fake title against Curtis Blaydes and hes ready to write off Stipe.
