He suffered a serious back injury prior to his fight with derrick lewis and it changed his fighting style
41 yrs old tho
Let's see Stipe at that age
@@wdchaconpereira there’s no reason for him to fight anymore I think he retires after his next fight win or lose
@@Aquamatiic at least the Jones one and Francis I'd say
@@wdchaconpereira Well he's 40 now...
no one really knows how hard all these kicks and hits are till there's no crowd in the back ground. So hard
That was a great fight I think Daniel cormier knockout Stipe in one of the fights and lost in the other one
A perfect example that stipe's head movement and footwork can be on point. He did got hit, yes he's turning 40 but with the proper time preparation he'll be a problem.
I mean he is a GOLDEN GLOVE BOXER lol His boxing footwork n head movement BETTER be greater than a life time wrestlers
@@trentejames9773 he’s a bit too traditional with it sometimes i think, gets hit way too often with unorthodox non-boxing strikes, just my opinion. I may be wrong
jones gonna wrap him up like a burrito no problem.
@@skouria3135 οκ
@@skouria3135jones couldnt warp a bandage.had a great resume and now became a joke.
One of the more compelling trilogies we've had the pleasure of viewing
I remember watching this and being so amazed with the fact that DC didn’t get finished especially after the eye poke. He showed true warrior spirit and the heart of a champion in his last fight
Dc bad back hurt him in this fight if he would have wrestled more easy win for him
I was amazed he got away with so many eyepokes, From 1-3 apparent refs never needed to look at this?
These are the best highlights on the platform. Thank you!
Cormier had to set a record with the amount of eye pokes landed during his three fights against Stipe. They will never count them up or take notice of it but damn I'd say he got at least 37 eye pokes in.
As Rogan has mentioned before, without a crowd you find just how fucking powerful those shots are.
Jesus that eye poke from Stipe was disgusting but DC had that one coming for all the eye pokes he did on Stipe first.
This is the best highlights of this fight👍 thank you 🙏 for this 🙏🙏
I have no idea why everyone was fixated on the right hand at the end of the first round. Stipe stumbled but giving the round to Cormier just for that is ludicrous.
Exactly, he was more off balance and got clipped as he was turning away.
@@zippo_muk9254 OH HE’S HURT
Goes on to win a five round fifth decision.
It’s kind of a pet peeve of mine.
Costa/Vettori. Costa hit one good high kick in the second round. Vettori blocked it with his ugly cinder block head and no sold it. Everyone thought that that head kick won Costa the second round, even though he was loosing the round.
Whittaker/Romero. Whittaker hits a head kick. Romero takes it, heaves, takes a long ass time to stabilize and breathes in like a floppy air bag. “ROMERO EATS IT LIKE A TIC TAC.”
Idk if yk how scoring works but whoever does the most damage wins the round. Cumulative damage doesn’t beat instant damage and Cormier had the most damaging strike in that round. Giving dc that round isn’t ludicrous if you actually know ufc scoring rules.
@@zippo_muk9254 bruh tf are you talking about he got rocked with a punch that made his legs buckle and he fell into the cage. Him being off balance was the direct effect of him being cracked with a solid punch.
@@nick4942 No. Stipe clearly won the round.
The speed difference in this for Stipe. And then now against Jones is insane Stipe looks 2x faster than he did this weekend😢
Or maybe he’s fighting a 5’9 74 inch reach Cormier and not a 6’4 84 inch reach Jones 😹 just a thought
DC deserved that eye gouge from stipe after making him get surgery
DC one of the greats only lost to the goats he needs more recognition
The Greatest part of the pandemic was silent ufc events. Jesus Christ, I never realized just how hard Daniel Cormier hits at heavyweight until watching and listening to those shots.
As sad as gaethje ferguson was the sound of the punches were amazing
I agree. Way better to watch fights without the mindless roar of a drunk, clueless audience
Honestly miss the no crowd fights.
Something nostalgic and super primal about them.
Two legends who both out on a master class performance. That was a close fight, but Stipe deserved a split decision over DC; very close fight.
You could tell they were holding back, i caught a few moments where stipe was gonna throw a high kick and didnt.
You might think this makes the fight boring, it makes it better in my eyes as this is a clear show of pure respect and honor.
Stipe: hey DC here's some of your own medicine... You're welcome...
Larone could you upload some videos of entire trilogies like the press conferences, embedded, and fight highlights of the all of the fights.
I'm pretty sure he has already but might be wrong
This is the stipe I remember. Last Saturday was simply sad to witness. Age, being off for 3 years, and all that accumulated damage from fighting at heavyweight, is why he looked so slow against Jon.
How tf was Stipe taking so many shots. That's some god tier chin unfortunately there's only so many nukes you could take from Ngannou.
He's quite resilient at taking a punch, provided he sees shots coming. All his KO losses came when he didn't see a shot coming, although Ngannou caught him with such a perfect check hook it probably wouldn't have mattered even if he saw the punch coming, as Ngannou has freak power and Miocic ran straight into it.
Stipe's chin and cardio were always his greatest weapon, his cardio probably comes from his firefighter training
Yeah firefighters can just walk into any sport lol
As someone recently watching ufc u can really see how much slower Stipe was vs Jon jones
Larone coming through like usual
this was such a mad fight to watch, first main event in lockdown IIRC and hearing them punches land and no audiance was crazy
Now that DC is retired it really was an honor watching his fights the past decade. The battles with Jones and Stipe are legendary
the dude was never a real champ
@@marcGOAT1 yet slumped heavyweight champ make that make sense🧐 so how is he not a legitimate champion
@@dr.wolfgang3256 it was a fluke when he beat stipe, stipe proved that by spanking Daniel twice. he was never a light heavy champ either, u agree with that obviously
@@marcGOAT1 still slumped him nonetheless and defended the title once 😭
@@marcGOAT1 Was Sera vs GSP a fluke too? Is every win a loser avenges a fluke?
Dcs eye has never been the same. He literally moved his eye with that eye poke for life and he continued to fight. Crazy
He brought it on himself tbh.
What a fight! Damn, I forgot about that nasty eye poke from Miocic. I know it wasn't intentional, and DC had one of his own. Great performance by both men, true warriors in and out of the cage.
Dc had like 7 in the first two fights on Stipe. Stipe had 2 total in 3, I believe.
i am 100% sure Miocic did it on intention after DC poked his eyes few times.
@@InFernoKnight95I’d believe it. He said he had to get eye surgery after one of DCs eye pokes. I forget if it was the 1st or second fight.
But seriously , in slomo it looks like Stipe's finger goes into his eye up to the middle knuckle and gets caught in the corner of his eye socket. How the hell did DC keep fighting.
ALL 3 OF THEIR FIGHTS DC EYE POKES STIPE MULTIPLE TIMES!! UR TELLING ME NOBODY BEHIND THE SCENES TOLD HIM “LOOK MAN, I KNOW U LIKE TO BLOCK AND GRAB PUNCHES OPEN PALM WITH THE FINGERS OUT, BUT YOU’VE GOUGED THIS MANS EYES OUT 379 TIMES WITHIN 2 FIGHTS”…
As a massive fan of DC this is probably the most heartbreaking fight of all time.
He deserves losing, hes an eye poke cheater.
Eye poking scum
Impressive fighter but he deserved to lose an eye bisping style for the shit he pulled against stipe
As a massive fan of Stipe, watching DC bitch about ONE eyepoke in this fight after he poked Stipe over 20 times in the last fight and Stipe NEVER complained, is absolutely hilarious to me.
@@scrappy1416the one eye poke had way worse than any DC landed and literally gave Stipe opening to win the last 2 rounds.
DC after realizing he still lost again despite all those sneaky "accidental eyepokes" : "That'll be it for me".
Stipe getting revenge on DC for that Popeyes song 🤣🤣
Stipe the eye poke cheater
Hate to say it but DC kind of had it coming, He was the king of eye pokes
Best trilogy fight of all time
nah.cain vs jds, poirier vs conor ,couture vs lidell, gsp vs hughes, edgar vs meynard etc
@@borklaser7291 Poirier vs conor and liddell vs couture definitely weren't as good 😂
@@borklaser7291 neither was gsp vs Hughes lmfao
This fight deserved a crowd.
I would still pay to see #4
Why Stipe is not great, because he has the image of a good family man, a fireman. People love bad guys talk about them. Yes Conor? Look at JJ when he throws a party, the whole world talks about him, but nobody cares when he shoots a bow in the backyard. That is life.
Amerika is anti white
dc looks funny at heavyweight
DC is much stronger in HW than in LHW
I love hearing the hits rather than the crowd. So much more entertaining.
Stipe has NO CHANCE vs GOAT BONES
This fight confirmed that JJ is not the only eye poker…
3:30 another eye poke by Cormier
Stepe returning that eye poke is the only way guys like DC learn, they start getting behind on a fight they start doing shit like that every time but he didn't do it to stepe anymore after that
These are probably the 2 best heavyweight fighters ever.
Stipe is unbelievably underrated and one can only imagine what dc would've been if he started earlier with mma.
Ngannou
@@thegreg9800 i don't believe Ngannou is a good fighter at all (skill wise)
He's just so unbelievably powerful he can negate the skill that Stipe had in their 2nd bout.
I have to give him credit for the wrestling skill he showed against Gane.
But i think DC would destroy him like he did with Derrick.
Especially before his back problems.
@@thegreg9800 if he Ko Jon Jones, he will become heavyweight GOAT
@@rush7313 so if he KOs a fighter who has never fought at heavyweight he is the goat of heavyweight?
Stipe the eye poke cheat and panic wrestler. Jones needs to wear goggles
DC just happened to be born in the era of Jon and Stipe.. he would’ve been #1 Heavyweight Champ if those 2 weren’t there. Great era!
I do NOT remember this fight being during COVID. I really don’t remember DC ever fighting in the APEX. Weird how memory works.
This stipe would ko jones
These 2 guys to me represent the class of the UFC. Tough as nails. Consummate professionals, courteous and classy after wins and losses. Young professional athletes should take note of the way they conducted their business.
Rooting for stipe all over the trilogy. Eyepoking snake DC.
Stipe is a bum eye poke cheater
D.C. has truly a great fighter... Talk about heart and almost always a gentleman....
stipe rules,my US fedor.
Stipe got his revenge with that eye poke, deserved
2:42 for such a natural and instinctive wrestler, I'm surprised he didn't level change and take advantage of Stipe walking forward swinging. Wasn't much distance to cover either.
I don’t care what anybody says it’s the only reason dc lost the second and third fight. He didn’t wrestle at all in the third fight and only in the first round in their second fight. One of the best wrestlers in mma and all he wanted to do is strike with stipe. His corner was screaming at him to go for takedowns all throughout the third fight it’s very bizzare
Cuz hes hurt
I love DC but man, cant whine about an eye poke when we al know damn well you been poking Stipe in every fight y'all had
