    Simple - A introverted Wizard that for a year just has to cast a spell in the morning. Then can conduct research alone and unbothered from all other duties while being paid for by the crown or the church.
    Also this same Wizard does this for 10 years at 10 different locations. Becoming a master of his research.
    Now apply hundreds or years... Easy as.
    Also there is always risk. You teleport to a circle which has an ambush set on the other side. And every circle needs a guard of some sort.

    Super late to this wonderful show! In my world a permanent circle requires stone masons to lay the special slate used for the circle. Metallurgists to make the silver / mercury / star metal alloy and a specialist to inlay the alloy into sigils, in the correct order, aspect, size, font, ect. to "set" the circle. If the sigil order gets into the wrong hands, then the whole circle needs to be broke up and the alloy pulled out to be recast... Its a whole very expensive process. I am running a game for my 14yo son and DUDEs! The whole idea of sneaking into an enemies castle and destroying their circle is giving me soooooo many plans for my sons game!!!! Not to mention the dungeon around the circle situation. I am going to have to listen to this a few more times just to get my ideas down on paper. Thank you for sharing this with us?

    I love the idea of competing noble houses building teleportati9n circle centered dungeons to one up eachother.
    Feeling inspired to run a campain around the idea tbh

      This concept was the centerpiece of the first adventure I ran for my current campaign and the players loved it!

    Use magic mouth and you will always have warnings of enemies/use. Use glyphs of warding and destroy instantly any unwanted user.

      A bard could encode a symphony or key a music to certain individual arrivals with magic mouth. Good mages could give a warning to intruders before the glyphs unleash hell.

    On the subject of the need for roads, you have to consider how lords will collect their taxes.
    If there are no maintained roads, taxmen will have to go out without the protection of a wagon, or really much else. If all a lord has in the way of roads is a few trails he is likely to find that very few of the tax collectors he sends out ever come back again.

      It depends on what you mean by roads. City's will still use the space between bldg to let people travel inside city. Farms will make cart paths so they can get product to market. The roads that would disappear would be the inter-community roads. In the US context there would be no numbered state and federal highways or interstates.

    Actually, if you used an Hell Loop, the speed would become high enough that the relativistic mass would create a black hole, destroying the whole plane at the least.

      @@henryknepp Unclear to me based on phrasing of the effect in *wish* but I personally (Benjamin) would rule that it can.

    my big confusion with this waste of breath hypothetical double portal set up is it sets you up in the closet EMPTY space which which not be the other portal?

    Why is it 9th level? The spell level choice for some spells looks off to me (based on spell creation rules.)

    Question I am working on a campaign. In my world there are ships that the humans use they are sailing ships with three mass. I realize teleportation is a 7 level spell. And it is able to teleport up to a 10 foot cube of space. Sailing ships are clearly bigger than a 10 for cube. So how would a person go about creating these fog Jaunter ships. They are called that because they produce a magical sphere around the ship teleporting everything in that sphere including the water. A byproduct of the teleportation is that the water when it reaches the destination converts to steam.
