    Biggest difference I’ve found with the 5100’s or whatever they’re called is that I feel way more planted when cornering and such

    Great shocks have noticed a difference between mine and my buddy’s truck these ride very nice sometimes alittle to stiff but better stiff than sloppy!

    I have rough countries on a 3" lift on my tacoma, will be upgrading my shocks in the future to 5100s the first chance I get! Been eyeing these forever!

    My opinion on 5100s, have them on 3 toyotas, they make for a great fresh start on trucks with stock springs. If you have a coil on shock front suspension setup it's the best entry level leveling kit that stiffens up the front end in a good way. They do best at hwy speeds as the vehicles feel planted give some more confidence vs a stock shock that is too soft and can feel sloppy over uneven roads at hwy speeds. Low speed they are stiff. No way around it. I threw 2nd gen tacoma 5160s on the rear of my tundra with an AAL. A little too soft imo when loaded down with a trailer but empty the truck rides amazing.

    You need kryptonite upper control arms with that level. Your balljoints will thank you a ton. The design on them gives you better angles and it rides smoother and not as rough on the front end. Bought a set on two different GM vehicles in the 99-06 years

    I’m running them with my mcgaughys and they definitely need time to break in. Overall though I love mine and I think you’ll be happy with them in the long run!

    I wouldn’t say it makes it ride like a Cadillac, but definitely a little more firm. Better handling, and even better handling when towing. The new RC M1 shocks/struts are built exactly the same as the 5100’s also. I bought a pair of M1 7” lifted struts for my truck to go with the lift. 5100’s still being used in the back for now.

      The thing with bilstein 5100's is their digressive not progressive like fox 2.0's. Progressive is soft on the smaller bumps but firmer on the harder bumps,the digressive bilsteins are firm on little bumps but when you hit a hard bump their soft but controlled. Hard to explain in writing but hopefully that makes sense lol

    I have a leveling kit from rough country. One of the people forgot to install the rubber inserts for the rear shocks with the sleeves so I couldn't use them and had to contact the company they sent me ones put together but I used a heavy duty off brand USA made in the rear and it's stiff in the rear then softened a little so I have a new set of rear shocks since I'm using an off brand. The fronts are rough country and was able to put them together and it bounces gives it a pre runner vibe. Floats like a caddy tho 😂. I may do Bilsteins one day.

      i’m looking to throw some torsion keys on my 05 cat eye and raise the front about 2 inches and the rear an inch with blocks. but the big question is which shocks to run with the lift. i’ve been debating on 5100s and the v2s and also the m1. question for you is how much are you lifted if any and do you drive a lot of bumpy roads and if so, you’d definitely prefer the v2s for the bumpy roads because the 5100s seem to stiff for those roads? i drive all over for work and some days is an hour drive on the interstate and some days it’s an hour on a super bumpy back road.. was planning on 5100s but honesty don’t want it to be too stiff, opinion?

    That’s the complete opposite of my 5100 on my 2wd cateye I had the rc shocks upfront, and they were a little too short and then I switched over to the 5100 it ended up getting way softer and of course less Chattery bc I actually had down travel

    Are you running a leveling kit or spacer anywhere? Or are you just achieving the additional ride height clearance with the 5100s?

    I know what you mean about the RC shocks being too bouncy. I did RC shocks all the way around on my 99’ RCSB, and the rear end feels real squirrelly if you hit a real bad bump.

    Ditch the junk torsion bars and do a coil over swap from atomic fabrication. Been there man. Only way to get a good comfortable but sporty ride. You can adjust the rebound and dampening to your liking. I’ve had bilstien and fox. Never goin back to have torsion bars. Atomic will sell you a custom spec for your height requirements. Best mod I’ve ever done to the truck. Even have them on my work truck lol.

    I see your upper control arms sits on the little droop stop or bump stop whatever people call it lol, does that create more stuff ride for you? Does the 5100’s help soften those bumps on the road? For my truck, it sits on them and I think it only has leveling keys and the control sits on that stop, and when I hit a bump it’s just so stiff and I feel every bump

    • @lmfscrew
      @lmfscrew  Месяц назад

      That is because the truck was lifted off the ground and front suspension was at full droop. They don't touch with the truck on its own weight. If yours is touching them while not being lifted off the ground your keys are turned up way too much and that's why it is stiff. Should be enough room so that the upper control arms doesn't hit the bumper stop under normal driving.

    • @juangiles4218
      @juangiles4218 Месяц назад

      Ahh ok, I my keys aren’t turned up too much, I still have about an inch left of thread, I’d have to see how much it’s actually threaded in but yeah I get what you mean?

    Bilstein are known for being a stiffer shock than something like an N3 or a rancho. You’re sacrificing a little ride quality for control.
    Personally, I have the N3 up front on my 2001 Silverado, and bilstein 5100 in the rear. Seems to offer a good balance of ride quality and control
