What if Gero started to get interested in Goku's strength because of the android Goku defeated in Muscle Tower? And then turn that interest into a thirst for revenge after the Red Ribbon falls.
Yeah could tie android 8 to gero and maybe have metalatron have geros voice coming out of a speaker or commanding him, could also show human android 16 or something

Oh, what if 17 and 18 were siblings of Launch? That could give her more presence and reason to be there longer-term or show back up later, and tie the androids in to the rest of the series.

i wouldn't mind learning more about Roshi's past I like the idea about him losing someone which makes him the way he is but instead of an illness I would like to see him lose them to King Piccolo and when Piccolo returns his personality changes to being super serious and kind of show us yeah Roshi is a bit of a goofball but he knows the dangers of Piccolo and now he lost his student to him he is hell bent on stopping him before Piccolo kills anyone else he cares about in a way trying to protect Goku from him
We kind of got that with mutaito but I just wish it stuck more because roshi was at his best in my opinion during the 22nd tournament and the king piccolo arc

To live ling enough that he could finish what his master started and pass in the knowledge for others after him.
When Piccolo is defeated, he has no more missions to accomplish and becomes a lazy old man.
It would be pretty cool if they gave an early explanation about the different kinds of energy. Life energy, how life energy can be manifested destructively or applied as healing by learning different forms of energy control then specific techniques. After meeting Kami, one of them could say "no wonder none of the other people who can control energy have been up here. All of you living on the lookout are sort of half shrouded, like your energy is here but also not here." Kami would say, "Well, everyone here is a divine being of some kind, our energy flows through godly channels. It's not quite the same as life energy. And our auras change the very nature of the things around us." Wouldn't need to be more specific as Goku and the others are not very inquisitive and would not ask about other gods or Kami's origin. Whenever Kami uses a power of some kind, they could remark that they can't sense it at all, only the effect it has on the environment around it as it affects life energy in the living things in its area of effect.
That would also explain why they live on the lookout in the first place, away from everyone; to avoid interfering more than they already do due to the very nature of their divine essence.
It might also be cool if being around godly entities enough kind of gives you a 'glimpse' at god ki, and we could have hints about the characters being affected by it so the 'super saiyan god' doesn't need a big ritual.
Maybe power levels sometimes become unreadable or 'scrambled', affecting scouters in a weird way, under intense stress as their ki mixes with divine ki?
@@DonnaPinciot i think that is partly implied but not directly explained in the show - that being skilled in sensing ki, and spending a lot of time around the application of god ko, you eventually figure out how to at least partly read it and control it. Then with some other catalyst, you can manifest god ki yourself, but you're like converting your normal ki, so anything you do is going to be less direct and less instinctive than if a god did the same thing. Until you get access to a god form, ie SSG, then while in that form you can do anything you could do normally but with god ki instead of normal ki, so it's more effective. Even if you're not mathematically putting out more watts than before, your watts matter more. So then you get Destroyer Toppo or SSG Goku and Vegeta *appearing* to have a dramatic increase in power but if a scouter could read god ki it wouldn't say they've increased their aura's output very much.
I agree, it explains how Vegeta goes red without the ritual. Just needs a bit more direct exposition in the show.

We all know how Kami came to the tower, but what about Korin's story?
It was there when he got there.
i always like to think that, since the other two hermits of roshi and shen are so long lived, korin was like the previous kami's pet cat and either adopted kami like cats do, or kami saw him one day and was like "huh, a talking cat. that's interesting... better go adopt it."
couldn't he just be one of the animal people, but he was trained (possibly by kami)
@@modelomegatylerKarin (or Korin in USA) is 800 years old by the time Goku climbs the tower. Then, he says he trained Goku's master 300 years ago and it took him 3 years to complete training.
Therefore we know from that exchange in the manga that Roshi spent 3 year on the tower chasing Karin and playing cards for gamble at night. The card games are how he got the Power Pole that ended with Hermit Gohan and the nimbus he later gifted to Goku
@@juura78Karin states he is not like other beings in this world. Besides that, the nameless namekian arrived after Roshi had trained under Karin and before Piccolo came into being.
So the old namekian Kami arrived between 300 and 100 years before Goku climbed Karin Tower.
If you means the previous human kami, then maybe. But it is more likely that Karin is like Mr. Popo and his aging in GT was purely mess up from script writers
Back when Dragon Ball didn't have over the top Power Levels and crazy feats of mass destruction on planets, galaxies and universes.
Cause earth was the weakest planet.
Like back when Naruto was actually about being brain over brawn and outsmarting your opponent with tactic instead of just throwing rasenshurikens capable of leveling mountains.

I would keep the earthlings relevant in terms of power. I would also make sure chichi is as useful as Bulma in some way
I would make it so that Gotenks was the one to truly defeat kid Buu cause honestly Gotenks just felt kinda wasted.
I'm sure there's more I would change but can't really think of it right now. Those two were just my biggest gripes.
I always felt chi chi and the ox king were largely underdeveloped in the series.
@@lamar7575 They really were. I remember Toriyama apparently stated that he didn't like Chi Chi. So instead of simply improving her, he continued to paint her in a bad light more than half the time. Ox king just kinda.... faded into obscurity.

@@lamar7575 I just saw someone pose a what if question. Basically asking what if Gohan's strength and potential are more based off of Chi chi's genes. Mystic form and Beast form would have been great ways to keep the humans relevant by giving them their own transformation. And Chi chi being the first to unlock it would have made for an amazing reveal when Gohan had later obtained it.
I'd like to see a completely stand alone short series about pre explosion saiyans plotting a doomed rebellion against Frieza. I'd want the animation to be super retro like the style of the bardock special. I wanna see that film grain!
I love what you did with Roshi bc he was in love with Ran Fan in his youth but ultimately she declined him & chose another.
If they were to do a reboot they would probably do a similar thing as the Digimon 2020 reboot, tell a new story with characters and ideas from the original. A great blueprint for this idea would be Dragonball movies, more specifically the Path to Power.
Sometimes, all a meal needs a bit more salt.
People can say you're being picky, but it really can be a game changer. Just a bit more spice, a dash of garnish, and slightly better plating can make a meal go from homely to looking gourmet
Make General Copper Magenta's guardian with Commander Red's passing
This would be an amazing opportunity to expand on the Crane School characters. Crane Hermit was a character that started bad, turned good, but later grew disillusioned with the concept, returning to his old ways.
Tien's 3 eye lore expanding would have some great implications for the franchise because he and any extensions of his character could represent the Sun Wukong's rival Erlang Shen.
To be fair rewriting dragonball is what all of your what ifs are.
Maybe have a Mr Satan cameo in a martial arts tournament? Basically have him be a fighter who loses to Kami in the preliminary fights in the last tournament of the anime.
Maybe also make some of the non Z human fighters stronger. Basically have some of the stronger non Z fighters actually be a threat to anyone not Goku.
Or he’ll have him be the guy who kami possesses
My worry about a reboot would be, due to the popularity of Vegeta. That he would feature heavily with many cuts to his childhood etc. disrupting the focus and reducing the stakes of what’s happening on Earth.
My only changes would be to have the Z-Fighters remain relevant in Z. Tien not getting access to the Kaioken is a crime

I love this idea. Focused more on giving all characters a bit of the spotlight. I'll always love the original series, and it's common to have a staple main character, but there are lots of times where it just feels like "The Goku Show." Which isn't bad because we pretty much see the story from his perspective. This sounds much more like and ensemble cast, which would be very welcome.

I feel like the Demon Clan Namekian spawns should get some attention.
Instead of a new anime like this I would want a OG Dragon Ball game, like DBZ Kakarot, but for Dragon Ball. And have it do the whole series. They could do all this in game form.

It would be cool if they had included a few more minor arcs related to the Saiyans or maybe establishing that Freiza is the strongest person in *North Galaxy*, not just the whole universe, cause that set the bar way too high way too early
I know this is a long shot, but I'd really love to see "What if Pilaf succeeded in conquering the world" because it wasn't a full moon you see.. Now with the resources of the world behind them, what does the Pilaf gang do? We've seen over the years they aren't THAT evil... imagine Pilaf and his gang as the last line of defense against a Red Ribbon Army with no Goku to save the Earth. >_>

11:47 It would be hilarious if everyone's favorite anthropomorphic purple cat of phenomenal destructive power that can span the universe at least twice over gets a Dragonball episode 0 appearance, but as a twist we just see him flop in bed and take a nap and thr camera then leaves the planet entirely, just enough screen time to show he's probably important but not enough for a new viewer to realize just HOW drastically important... as the narrator would be introducing us to the world of Dragonball not really acknowledging anyone in particular at all as it shows places around the universe (aside from Namek and Freiza's main planet) showing very tiny hints of the later story arcs, a random Frieza force member, perhaps Babidis spaceship (perhaps at a vehicle lot on sale or being built assuming it's early enough) maybe even the Super Dragonball that was caked in debris looking like a planet between the universes it can show just a unsuspecting speck of light landing on it and leaving then after the camera settling on Earth with a sky view of Goku talking to Gohan as the text Dragonball [Insert subtitle to differentiate it from the actual original telling of the story]...
My retcon would be:
Don't fix something that's not broken. Once you start 'toning-down' characters and other elements within the original lore, it then becomes a slippery slope on its own. At the end, you're left with something that's half-baked at best that's only mimicking the original. Reason of why the majority of reboots end up being from just average to utter disrespectful trash in execution.
Only thing that needs to be toned down is Roshi.

Roshi is a great character who teaches great lessons and things people could really stand to take to heart…which is why it’s agonizing to see him outright molest or harass someone in the next scene. So many great lessons undermined for the sake of a joke, regardless of the appropriateness of the joke, is something that can be fixed without sacrifice.
Masako has the right idea. He can be a silly, horny old man. He doesn’t have to grope an unconscious Ranfan or motorboat a very underage Bulma to sell the gag.
@@l33tspaniard I'm okay with Roshi being a deeply flawed person as long as it's given the seriousness it deserves, but the problem is it's just not that kind of series. I get the joke, but it does fall flat for me at least, at least most of the time. The only times the dirty old man schticks were actually funny were when nobody was being perved on inappropriately, with the operative word being inappropriately.
Telling krillin and goku to bring him a beautiful woman and them bringing back a mermaid, only for him to not only be disappointed but get rejected anyway is funny. Watching bulma poop without her knowledge or consent is creepy and weird. Roshi trying to teach goku how to read but only having smut to teach him with is a joke that lands, groping an unconscious woman doesn't.

In my opinion... I would love an actual dragonball re-boot.. but insted of going sci-fi it goes futher into the mystical.
Imagine re-imaging dragon ball.. but insted earth, the universe and vegeta.. it's all realms now.
Like:
"The Earth Realm"
"The Saiyan Realm"
"The Namek Realm"
"The Demon Realm"
"The Kai Realm"
"The Realms of the after life."
And how would you incorperate Freeza? ...Take mortal kombat's Shao Kahn as an example.
He is still a slimey lord who takes over realms and sells it to others (like the demon realm or maybe other realms who been "mysteriously destroyed")
But Freeza would never travel into certain other realms due to it being forbidden by the gods of the realms.
Also note that every realm in this reboot is not just "Planet Earth but a realm" more like multiplue planets/systems in one realm. Thus the guardian of earth being a thing and King Kai being the "Kai" of Earth Realm. And the Supreme Kai being the leader of all King Kai's of each realm.
It would setup a more mystical journey when Raditz shows up from the Saiyan Realm, where mighty warriors come from but the Saiyan rules them all for being fercious ape people!
To only find out... "The Saiyan Realm was mostly destroyed by Freeza"
Oh yea it still exists... Freeza can only destroy planets after all, but he "descimated" most of the realm and repurposed it. With the planet Vegeta being utterly destroyed, causing a huge blow to the surviving Saiyans.
As for more explainitions would be great! As well as adding Garlic Jr. Since now the demon realm is more interresting and how more invasive they are...
But demons rather let someone like Freeza do the dirty work, but some demons just try their own way.
And how to add the androids and Cell? Well it is more magical this time for this reboot. Or just keep it tech and have Ki be more magical...
And yes Dragonball would put the idea of "other realms" in advance... with for example being the myth of the dragon balls being a gift from "another realm" that was given to the Guardian of earth (Kami). Wich later turns out to be not a gift but a Namekian themselves.

Im currently working on a Dragon Ball Z rewrite. It will later have aspects of GT, Super, and include some movie content. I want to ground the series back to the martial arts orgins that it had by putting real martial arts into battles and expand character development

If it's done well when i already prefer og dragon ball over super i dont think i could continue super, i already dislike most of super considering how bland it feels, battle of gods and super broly are the only parts of the series i like, and a remake of og dragon ball would give me more of the characters i love, i cant rely on super to give spotlight to them since toyotaro seems to hate anything that isnt about massive eclipses of power or saiyans, under the current direction of super most of the things i love about dragon ball are pretty much gone, the basis of martial arts and excellent choreography arent present in super and i would live for a return to formula just to see what we could've gotten from and probably will never get from super

Hook up with the bomb-ass manga artists in your community and make a new manga that treats DragonBall as DragonBall treats A Journey to the West.
In the 90’s edited American version of DragonBall and DBZ, they made Roshi a subtle flirt who asked Bulma to find him a date in exchange for the dragonball. In DBZ they kept it and that’s what I preferred.
All they would need to do is publish side comics, uh, side manga focusing on side characters. It would generate a ton of revenue I'm sure.
It would seem interesting. Not sure how much would be used or if they would be better off giving it a Gundam One Year war time period idea... Less focus on Goku and his series since some people might not want to redue a series already done... and maybe focus on the scenes we didn't get in the anime like what you had mentioned.
I mean I would be interested in seeing how the Red Ribbon Army collected its remains or how the good doctor managed to build 3 super death machines that could curb stomp the greatest threat in the galaxy at the time... when everyone was struggling with a power level of 2000.
Seriously! Part of me wonders if the reason why the good doctor delayed as long as he did was because 17&18 ended up leaving a vital injury on the doctor leaving him to build 19 to turn him into a cyborg... you kind of want to make sure the numbers line up with the codding not having any errors when leaving a robot to preform brain surgery on yourself by stuffing your brain into a new body.
Would explain how he managed to do that and why he didn't have the robots pop out sooner to waste everyone.
How about mostly the same but without the Buu saga, GT and Super? After all Akira Toriyama didn't wanna draw the Buu saga and as for the other 2 GT was made behind Toriyama's back and Super does not really fit anywhere in the timeline. What I mean with the last statement is that super is canonically between 2 eps of Z (in the Buu saga) and in the ep that's supposed to follow Super there is no reference to what happened in Super
Your what if stories has inspired me to write a Dragon Ball/DC what if story. It's a massive undertaking, but I think it is worth it
My favorite parts of this are definitely including the retcons and introducing Z characters early. Aside from that i don't think OG needs to change much. Honestly no matter what, someone is gonna get upset so sure: it's not a bad idea Masako, nice ideas!

Commander Blue isn't really that bad
Blue is pretty much perfect the way he is. He only had that one brief but awkward moment in Penguin Village that really isn't accepted today.
I think it'd be funny if blue was actually straight as an arrow and Bulma assumes he's gay because he's not interested in her. The butt of the joke wouldn't be his sexuality but Bulma's vainness.
@@saucevc8353 Not that I would care but I imagine that would bother a lot of people as turning a gay character straight is like the opposite of what a lot of the Lgbt crowd want.
To be clear: i don't have a problem with him. He's one of the more unique characters in RR but in this little experiment i know there are people who will complain. If we're lessening Roshi's characteristics I'm surprised he didn't bring that up
In the two what if's I recommended Raditz power level is equal to Nappa power level when he's at full strength when he fights Nappa.
How about because Raditz is not as big as Nappa. Raditz is faster Nappa and allowing Raditz to have a edge on Nappa.

I'd fix some plotholes, like Dr. Gero, but nothing really else, certainly not updating it for "modern audiences".
Me I always think it would be fun to do a What if Roshi had daughter or granddaughter maybe who lives with him when Goku and Bulma show up?, I always like the trope of a lewd man who has female character like a daughter or granddaughter who he doesn't see in a sexual way but get mad when when lewds over other women.
If I were to name this rewritten version of Dragonball to fit into the context of DBS, I would call it… Dragonball Re:Verse. Cause it implies that the Dragonverse has their own separate realities/timelines and their own contexts depending on what was written previously and how it compares to the modern day.
I believe the easiest way to introduce a newer audience to the OG Dragon Ball would be to just reanimate the original series, and give us something like DBZ Kai, as a more streamlined version of it that is more easy to follow. Though this could work too. ❤️

On the note of introducing Kami early, I personally prefer it being saved as a plot twist. And if the audience sees him before Goku does, I feel it would greatly diminish that impact
Though fleshing out Kami and his relationship with Piccolo I can get behind, but I'd prefer it as a flashback
I had one idea to improve the DB story recently. Not narratively perhaps, but most people would still like it.
Take SSj4, make its fur brown instead of red, and make it the next form after Ozaru, requiring the mastering of the ape form. Make it Goku's go-to combat form, but of course still lower than Super Saiyan. Then he could go SSj after losing his tail or something and explore SSj2 and 3, but then by the time of his fight with Beerus, he could wish for his tail back and learn that the form can be combined with SSj, leading to a version with golden fur and hair (Primal Super Saiyan).
Would have been much better than the version of the form we got in GT, in my opinion
Having a moment where Ki is more... Understandable. How it defends fighters during battle or why it can vaporize organic matter. Nothing TOO bogged down, but more than what we got with Gohan almost 3 quarters through the original story.
I wanted to see what a Dragon Ball reboot looks like?
I have mixed feelings about the idea of a reboot. It would be a great way to flesh out stuff that wasn't explored or explained in the original show, but that itself runs the risk of ruining the pacing of the show or overdeveloping needless stuff to the point where its no longer interesting or mysterious.
Ultimately, Dragon Ball is not just a popular anime series, it is the grandfather of all shonen anime and the establisher of tropes that would later influence newer anime and manga, and much like an actual grandfather, it has a lot of issues due to when it was made but is otherwise so sincere and lovable in what it shows that you can't help but love it still.
Id start dragon ball ep 1 with entire Bulma focused episode. Theres actually a lot left unsaid about why the billionaires daughter cant find a boyfriend, how she even knows about the dragonballs and why shes that level of perpetually single that she invented a dragon radar and preceded to go on this dangerous quest for man. Then maybe a little context on the pilaf gang sprinkled throughout that episode as well.
Ep1 would end with her approaching the gokus hut.
Story proceeds as normal from there except with less goku looking up bulmas skirt and with a couple of extra flashbacks to gokus childhood (maybe while hes sleeping or in battles remembering his training)
Then we dont send carrot to the moon because its a silly joke creates way to many questions
One change I would've liked, is if Launch was revealed to have been a member of the Red Ribbon Army. And that her split personality is the result of a sleeper agent experiment gone wrong.
The arc that would need the most reworking in my opinion would be the Red Ribbon Army. OG really drags on and on my recent watch I needed up skipping through many episodes
I always prefered original Dragonball over DBZ.
As a german kid I saw Dragonball after coming home from school and loved it. A few years after Dragonball ended DBZ started. And I was utterly disappointed. The adventure was gone and the fight weren't as interesting as in the Dragonball Tournaments. But I mostly missed the adventure and lovable sidecharacters.
What would I love to see in a reboot of Dragonball? Not make it Gokus story. But make it the story of Earths heroes.
Show us Master Roshi and Master Shen training under Master Mutaito. Participating in the World Tournament. And end that arc with Master Mutaito sealing away Picollo Senior.
Give us backstory on Bulma and Yamcha. Give us a glimpse in their childhood. Show us how Yamcha met Puar for the first time. Give us young Bulma inventing the Dragon Radar.
Kuririn don't need much addition.
Show us Tenshinhan and Chaotzu meeting at Crane School. Show us how they trained together.
Expand on interesting Sidecharacters and maybe introduce them earlier on. Like expanding on Upa and make him a more integral part of Dragonball. Introducing Yajirobi early would alsoi make sense. He could be present at the tournaments, but be to lazy to sign up. Show him being competent when facing one of Picollos Minions and defeating him handily, while being bothered to actually have to do something. Always in the background being confronted with the dangers our heroes are facing and being competent, while hating to have to do something. He may be relaxing in a town being attacked by the Red Ribbon Army and is bothered by their leader, who doesn't want to leave him alone. He defeats him, so that he doesn't bother him anymore and he can slack again.
I am by principal against censorship. If it was in the original that includes the gore abd the perverse. It needs to be there. Rewriting abd ignoring it doesn’t change the fact it was there. It exist . I get people are uncomfortable they have to deal. It’s a classic anime gag. Not to be taken seriously.
This censorship because it’s no longer appropriate to show to kids according to current censorship laws. Has loved the shows to unrealistic time slots .

Masakos Doing This What If's For Year's So It's Possible
this time we're not messing around with new characters or alternate narratives. This time it's just the overall core of the story.
Here’s my ideas. First, keep Roshi a perv, but do it more like Jiraya from Naruto. He can watch girls through keyholes and such and when he gets caught, he gets hit for it by the more moral characters like Tien and Yamcha.
Speaking of whom, all the side characters need to have more time to shine. Keeping to the spirit of martial arts, show that power can be defeated by skill if applied correctly. Maybe even make it so that it’s said outright that ki can make you faster and show them using that speed to get ahead of their more powerful opponents. For example, Yamcha and Tien could take out some of King Piccolo’s minions/children.
Another change that I would make is Burma’s wish and lore related. First, make it so that humanity has legends of the Saiyans. They don’t know the truth, but they know of mercenaries with tails that turn into giant apes with the full moon. Legends like that are why Bulma brings Goku along, though she doesn’t actually believe in the legend until Goku actually transforms. On Bulma’s wish, have her want to use it to get rid of the Red Ribbon Army, setting up that arc. Also, set up the Piccolo arc by having the Ox King mention that Roshi studied under the Great Mutaito, defeater of the Demon King.
Outside of that, I agree with everything you said.

Dragon Ball has become beyond stale and is in desperate need of a reboot.
Using Ultimate Marvel as a template is a brilliant idea because it was the inspiration for the MCU's first phase and this could be used as a way to adapt Dragon Ball into a live action movie or TV series.

Perhaps another idea this reboot could throw in is goku being named after sun wukong in universe, and other characters like roshi and tien comparing goku to the monkey king
I'm just worried that Toriyama will turn Dragon Ball into a post Stone Ocean JoJo's Bizzare Adventure type product which is objectively not a patch on the previous timeline.
I don't think a reboot is really going to happen nor do I want it. I like Super, but it's admittedly a different beast. I'd be afraid it gets the Kai treatment where one scene rips us between old beautifully drawn/animated to the Super style and back. It could be nice to sprinkle in hints of future events and maybe even canonize beloved movies, but you know something that we wouldn't like would happen. My go to involves going into later Z, but we all love the car filler episode and you just know that'd be cut.
As long as the reboot is not done by Disney then we'll be fine and I hope they don't add anything besexual or gay like the modern trash movies and video games.
It 100% needs a remake. Hoping it happens and I agree with all what you said about it. My favorite of th DB series and it saddens me when people haven't watch it cause they are turned off of how old and oudated the jokes are or the pervyness. And hell yeah more awesome moments with Roshi please. Every bad ass moment in DB with him on the screen is so memorable and you can just feel his power. Mercenary Taos intro is also so memorable with him riding on his Pillar and the Tongue lmao straight up bad ass assassin energy.
Pretty sure if it did it would be Digimon Adventure Remake all over again.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are someone who really likes the original, no one is saying it was bad or needless, and you'd still have the original if you don't like the reboot.
In my head cannon dr flappe was a scientist who lived in the area of jingle village when the army arrived with android 8 who needed repairs especially to his artificial intelligence and dr flappe fixed his body to the best of his ability but it wasn’t perfect so android 8 has scars like Frankenstein’s monster but dr flappe was able to upgrade android 8’s artificial intelligence so much that he has a strong sense of morality. Also during the repairs the bomb was taken out for safety and then reinstalled when the repairs were completed

I would have taken a reboot of the franchise over Super to be honest. Making Super a midquel is just baffling to me.

Like a lot of ideas; probably would add in things like maybe connect Android 8 in, like maybe connect him to Gero's son; and literally anything to add to Lunch would be a good thing. (I even like the idea of maybe an epilogue episode with Raditz headed to pick his brother up and contacting Nappa and Vegeta perhaps to give a bit more on what they were doing prior to Earth being a thing)

This is a great way to reboot Dragonball Masako! I would like to see Dragonball rebooted in modern anime style. I would like to see more of Goku’s early childhood with Grandpa Gohan, Krillin childhood at the Orin Temple, Yamcha’s childhood at Diablo Desert and Bulma’s early childhood.

You know it's entirely possible if the live action One Piece series does well and with the Toho/Nintendo levels of over sight that it sounds like Toei Animation and Eiichiro Oda has being doing with that series, plus with the live action YuYu Hakusho coming out too, It's very possible for Dragonball to get a live action reboot series soon.
DO NOT delete the dated stuff. It is absolutely imperative for the DB story for us to see 16 year old Bulma’s boobs. The story would be entirely different without that one vital plot point. Same goes for the bunny outfit.

One way to have it make sense is to have Dragon Ball be told like a fairy tale to the latest or a far-future (Goku Jr.) generation of characters.
need to flush out the pre-dragonball scenarios with what happens to other characters. And a lot of the minor characters (esp in tournaments and other minor fights) could stand to be longer. So could movie villains being a part of the story.
It'd be more interesting if you studied the Dragon Ball MMO's lore and fleshed it out based upon that. They add a lot more content to even the old dragon ball era stuff as well as others
i wouldn't mind seeing Frieza actually conquering a lot of notable planets or his early rivalry with his brother before they split ways for a long time. Or training with his father. Like them making the races that form their high elite soldiers, Ginyu Force and Kooler's armored squad actually submit (after a brief fight). It'd be a "meanwhile in another part of the universe this is going on" kind of thing (before they cared about Goku and the others)
And the characters happening to meet others that are really beneficial to each other and work together thing like in so many fan mangas is nice. But not so much the "big villain is all of a sudden good without a lot of back and forth drama" That kind of thing needs to be played as rivalry and eventual forced alliance as dragon ball did with characters (just slower)
Can argue it still is officially (though even with Frieza he may well never be a true ally).
But mangas like the oolong becoming OP is just trash as he didn't have the ambition to fight.
And one can argue that a lot of Z characters became friendly very fast. Esp Yamcha (can argue him to be the first real rival) and Krillin. Even with Tien and to a lesser extent piccolo jr.
Also Roshi having lost a loved one (or better yet multiple loved ones over time) for reasons (age, death to a villain, illness, physical injury or betrayal) would make for great excuses as to why he isn't successful to obtaining another girlfriend/wife (he'd outlive them if he didn't share his secret to aging so slowly). Or relationship drama would be another viable one.
You could also introduce the other androids. Both later and the inspirations behind them. Were they recreations of Gero's Family or friends? Possibly lost due to wars (talking androids prior to 17 and 18 including 19) The new Brolly movie does hint at Gero and Red's families so they could easily be added as filler.
and the reality Masako is you don't want LESS filler you want MORE filler and higher quality filler. More drama happening with each encounter which takes longer and has more of a struggle to overcome than the original version. But to do that the villains need to be at least somewhat stronger or at least more well supported.
The Dragon ball series (any) does take a LOT of shortcuts with characters that have shown potential. At the end of the day its basically Goku/other main character destroys them or they just disappear never to be seen again. And there's elements from any series(and movies) that could be introduced and repurposed for a overall better show.
this is why i also say to get ahold of (digitally) the original uncut manga (translated to english), take inspiration from that to start with on how to expand as its technically cannon.
And also a big NO to both Piccolo saga's being combined as that leaves a HUGE gaping plot hole with Piccolo Sr being destroyed or sealed. And mutaito being alive (if destroyed).
It also undermines the modern Piccolo's growth. You'd be asking far too much for Demon King Piccolo to drastically change into Piccolo Jr, which would break a major character growth factor. Plus a number of other factors (Shen and Roshi's past relationship, Dragon ball splitting, Pilaf and others acquiring dragon balls and having reason to cause problems and go after them (which was hinted at happening even in pre-dragon ball)
you can't lump those two together due to all other events that rely upon them for character changes and growths.
its like trying to lump together the sayajin saga into dragon ball and then asking Kid Goku to go to namek and defeat Frieza....
