Relaxing Camping and Campfire Cooking | Trout Catch and Cook at Allison Lake | Best Beef Kebabs Ever

This week, we headed to Allison Lake Provincial Park, about 325km from Vancouver to spend a relaxing weekend camping by the lake. We both had a super busy week so we were craving a digital detox - just sitting by the campfire, listening to nature sounds, some stargazing and of course some good food.
This time we decided anything we cook would be over the open fire so I packed up some marinated beef cubes, hot pepper and onions. We knew Allison Lake was stocked with trout so we packed the fishing gear as well.
The campground is right beside the highway so there is definitely some noise there but it is not a super busy road to be honest. The lake is right across the campground. Allison Lake is a beautiful lake with clear turquoise water and a sandy beach along with a picnic area. The lake is amazing for some paddleboarding and provides great fishing opportunities.
We caught a beautiful trout which we foil-baked over the campfire - this is one of our favourite trout recipes. Just put some oil, chilli, salt and garlic powder and foil bake over the fire until it is done. However, the star of the show was the beef kebabs. Honestly, those were likely some of the best beef kebabs I have ever had. Just smoked over the hot coal, filled with charcoal flavour, hot pepper and onions just complemented the juicy meat.
The campground was clean, however, the washroom door lock was not working so we had to either whistle or stand guard while minding our own business. It is not a very well-known campground but for anyone looking to do camping in British Columbia, especially in the lower mainland - we would actually recommend heading there.
