Great video. I started with KDP last month and I have made about 28 orders (about $100 AUD) so far with 14 books. Im pretty happy with that and look forward to growing this income. :)

You are absolutely right. It's these people used ads and made money then dominate/monopolize the front line so others get no sales.

It's very nice what you say, congratulations for such incredible results in January! But to me it's as if we published on different platforms. I'm a beginner and maybe it was bad to start running ads toads the bed of September as many run ads in Q4 and bids are higher. I sold 110 copies, but spent much more with ads. January was even worse, even if someone bought 4 copies of a notebook in one order and someone else bought 3 with one order, because in total I sold only 11 copies. This month even worse -it seems that even running ads is not working... I knew that immediately after publishing a book we benefit from.a period of honeymoon, but now I noticed that recently published books are dispayed after the old ones, I found my fresh one on the 36th page!...

Congratulations Nuria! What an achievement, you must feel fantastic! Do you make your book interiors and then have say 5 different book covers for the same interior? I'm a bit overwhelmed and slow in making book interiors and would like to make more, but I am interested to hear how you approach the number you have.
I used to do that when I first started but I don't think that's a good idea. I make unique books now so each interior and cover is different. However, I still make notebooks so they do have different covers.

Thank you so much. The books that sell without ads are usually the ones in less competitive niches. It really depends on the book and whether you do other marketing like promoting on social media. Some books sell without doing much but that is rare.

It's difficult to say, as everybody's situation is different. But I don't see any reason why you can't achieve a good income, I hope you achieve even more!

I used to sell most of my books in the UK, but that changed last year and now I sell most in the USA.

Reviews matter but not as much as having a good book in the first place. I still run ads on the ones with many reviews.

I got one question, Nuria. Looking at your data it seems like your average revenue per book is around 4$? That seems to be on the higher end for books, how do they sell so well? Is that all because of ads?

Thank you so much Gemma! Yes, my average royalty per books is around $3, I try to set my prices so that I make a minimum of $2 but more if possible. I don't think people buy books on Amazon because they're cheap, usually people buy books because they need them or really want them. I did that right from the beginning even when I wasn't running ads. Now I do run ads because that is how to really boost your income. I hope that helped, and I wish you every success, I know you can do this!

I focus on mid- and high-level content since I’m a writer, so I’m not that fast with uploading, but hopefully I don’t need as much products to generate a certain income ☺️

Thanks for sharing! Can you explain little bit more which one is best KPD or Paper back. I have loaded 2 KDP last month but no sales on amazon.
This really just depends on the book. THey all have the same chance of selling.
I spent an hour to read all of they rules , and in the end they closed my account without any reason

What software/site do you use for tracking sales? This looks way more informative than the standard KDP reports.
I use KDP Champ, it does give a lot more information than KDP standard reports.

Wow, you have about 750 books in like 3 years? It's almost like one book per day considering there are 1095 days in 3 years. How do you manage to produce books so fast while living your normal life doing other household chores? It's just mind-boggling.
You'll be even more surprised to hear that I didn't publish any books (except two children's books) in 2021. They are low content books, not written books, so since 2019 that is not a lot compared to other low content book creators who have thousands of books.

I'm concerned about one thing regarding color usage, does it really recommended to use black and white interior instead of standard colored ones? (like colors only for lines and boxes, not full pages) i would like to know the pros and cons of using b/w and colored interior from you if you don't mind, thank you again, Nuria! 😄🙏
Printing in colour can be expensive. If you keep your book under 40 pages then it's not too bad but anything over will get costly so it depends on how much you want to charge for your book. Most low content books are in black and white for that reason.

@@siddiqtohaji5957 Absolutely, and you can always try coloured interiors, just keep an eye on the price. It's also cheaper by using standard paper rather than premium, but you need a minimum of 72 pages. Best of luck to you!

Can you recommend how best to learn to use Amazon ads. My results last time were dreadful. Obviously I have a lot to learn.
Hi Barbara, my results were terrible at the beginning too. It took me a long time to even understand them a little, they seemed so complicated. The truth is that it just takes time to get the hang of it. I found the free ads course from Kindlepreneur helpful. The problems is then to take what you learn in theory and apply it to your own ads. It's a lot of trial and error but the more you do it, the more you learn. Just take your time and bear in mind that it will take a while. Best of luck!

It seems like just about every successful and transparent with their kindle business is spending about 10% of their income on ads - in hindsight.
Yes, really important to run ads. I didn't run any the first year and there is no way I could have grown the business to this level without ads.

I’ve been on kdp since 5th of November 2019 and I sometimes don’t even make the $100 mark for the US and it takes up to 3 to 4 months to make the UK 100 pound. It’s all about who has the money for amazon ads. Don’t fool yourself people, if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on ads you will struggle constantly to sell your books. Seriously the home boss spent over a $1,000 on ads, how can we compete with that. And it is about ads, I know when I advertise I get sales, but there’s only so much money I can spend on ads and I have to stop them, I have no choice.
I guess she started paid ads very late, she initially stick will organic sales and free promotion. Try to find and learn ways to promote your books free...
@@ContentCreator I have been promoting my books for free on social media for years and it doesn’t work. The only time you get sales really is with amazon ads. People are on amazon for a reason, to buy stuff, that’s where the people with money are and only those with a 1,000 to spend on ads will get the lions share of the sales. The rest of us will struggle, and I know my books are good because when I do ads I get clicks and sales, but as I said there’s only so much I can spend on ads and those with money push the rest of us to the bottom. You will only get results as she gets if you spend over a 1,000 on ads per month.
@@karenvickery6070 if you have more for spending on ads you may start to get optimized for better roi, but other than that there is no benefit of spending more on ads. Divide her spending by 10 or even 20 and start ads with that budget and see if it brings results...
@@ContentCreator I have been running ads for years and I have them well organised and optimised, even lottery ads, but I don’t have the money to spend the amount she spends on ads, if I did I would do as good as she does. But that’s where people need to know the reality of kdp, your book will never be seen and purchased unless you run ads, and if you want good sales like she has then be prepared to spend 1,000’s on ads.
I absolutely agree that ads are very important but like you, I couldn't afford to run them for the first year at all. I slowly built up my sales without them and started running them once I had a small budget for them. While it's true that advertising can play a significant role in sales, there are also other ways to promote your books. Consider building a website or author central page, leveraging social media and online communities. Every little bit helps, and a consistent effort over time can lead to steady growth and success. Also, don't be discouraged, as this industry can be competitive, but success takes time and persistence. Try new ideas or branding your books, this is something that has really helped me increase my sales.
