This is really good to know. I didn't know Amazon could play with the price. I would flip out if I saw the price of one of my books so cheap, not knowing this. I would be looking for a big mistake on my part. Thanks for the heads up, just in case. I truly appreciate it!
This actually happened to me, not to that extent though. One of my LC books has been drastically reduced so I get consistent sales. Last week (for 1 day) I had a BSR of less than 1000! I want to add A+ content but I'm hesitant to do anything to the listing in case that would cause Amazon to increase the price. I will run more aggressive ads though.
@@naturallycandacemarie if you can target specifically relevant keywords, yes ads will help. But honestly I think the performance of this book is more a function of the reduced price than anything else.
@@sholao.1344 Would you mind sharing how much it is making on average when it holds BSR of around 1k. Do you think may be an influencer shared your book that makes it popular?
@@rifatrashidadnan7613 well the day it went below 1000 was the day I had over 180 sales, I actually didn't notice it the day of, it was only when I went backt to check. I also looked up Shanice a couple of weeks ago too :) I hadn't watched the video about the notebook sales though. Yes, surprising isn't it! just shows you what can be possible. Thanks for making a video about it Nuria :)
There’s another component to this story. She first sold this book in self help and got a lot of sales from people who didn’t know it was a plain journal. Amazon flagged it and it was taken out of that category and now it’s more descriptive that’s it’s a lined journal. So I’m guessing that is when Amazon ended up with more stock and put the book on sale. This was a case where she got very lucky and I would not want others to think the same will happen for them. I think in most cases the book would have been given bad reviews but because of the confusing title I think many buyers assumed they made the mistake during purchase.
I totally disagree. I actually went to her You Tube channel, and watched her entire video. But first, let me state, that as far as I know, Amazon does not have any low content books pre-printed, so THERE IS NO "Stock" sitting around that they "ended up with" and had to get rid of by putting the book on sale! So you are NOT being fair to the creator of that book, by just guessing about how and when Amazon prints book orders. The author of the low-content book said that when she noticed that it went on sale, and her sales went up, she immediately went to work on promoting it herself, (as Amazon does put KDP books on sale, the book author DOES NOT LOOSE MONEY, AS AMAZON PAYS THEM THE SAME AS IF IT WAS NOT ON SALE). She worked VERY diligently to promote her book in every way that she could because she realized that it was in her book's best interest to ALSO promote her book while Amazon was promoting it on sale. 👍🏼 She used all the social media she normally used, and asked friends, family and supporters to help promote it too. A nice person with a special interest Facebook group also promoted it within their group. These diligent sales strategies that she used, and acted-upon immediately, are what pushed her book sales (and her other books also), up dramatically during those hand-full of days. So no, it was NOT at all that, "she got very lucky". Without out her IMMEDIATE, DILIGENT and CONSISTENT ACTION of promoting her book as soon as she saw it was on sale, it would not have made those sales figures on it's own! If that were the case that she was just "lucky", then ALL the other Amazon KDP books would sell at record high levels when they went on sale, and we know that is not the case. You are at best, doing her a great disservice by belittling and ignoring her own contribution to her great success, and at worst, you are just insulting someone who was smart, and put in a great deal of effort to make the most of a very brief opportunity when her book went on sale.
Thank you so much for sharing all of this wonderful information. I really appreciate the honesty and straightforward approach. I'm looking forward to learning more from you. This is inspiring.
Wow, detective Nuria Home Boss! Nice work :) My KDP was terminated (they falsely accused me of having a previous account that was terminated. I've only had one account), but this is still inspiring with regards to what's possible. Thank you.

I guess such incredible result doesn't happen organically. May be a super influencer found this lined journal helpful and shared or may be the author is spending heavily on ads. Whatever the reason is, its awesome.
An inspiring story and congrats to the author. Nuria, you mention Amazon may have dropped the price so they did not have stock sitting and take up space. How would this be possible if this is a KDP book, that only gets printed when ordered?
Yes, I had the same thought, Julie. And I don’t think that Amazon went ahead and published a whole bunch of these expecting to sell. Why? It is no different (in fact it looks WORSE) than the many THOUSANDS of other notebooks for sale. Books are printed in the country where the order is placed, on demand. It makes no sense for Amazon US to print lots of books if the orders are going to come in from the UK. My personal opinion is that Amazon is doing some market research itself and this was some kind of experiment as part of that. Lucky for the author. Not so lucky for the rest of us because it isn’t repeatable.
Wow, that's an incredible story! It just goes to show the power of a well-written and compelling book. I'm sure many aspiring authors will find this inspiring and motivating. It's fascinating to see how a single book can have such a massive impact on people's lives and generate such significant income. Thanks for sharing this mind-blowing story!
I think it's even more amazing as it is a notebook, so not a written book at all. It shows that anything is possible if the circumstances are right and she did well in promoting the book as soon as she saw that it was reduced in price.
When Amazon reduces the price of a book, the author still gets the royalties that they set when they priced their book, so she's not losing out. Amazon will either take the hit or they may have a good reason for reducing and selling off the books quickly. Storage space costs money too, so it could well be in their interest to sell these off quickly.
