GARY! For the love of your viewers...Please, please ask San Martin to start using the Miyota 9075 for their GMTs. Or at least give us that option to chose between the NH34 and the 9075. I'm absolutely sure people would pay extra for the 9075...
The quality of execution on this one is unbelievable. If they stuck any well known Swiss branding on the dial and a selita in the back it would be a 1k watch just from quality of finishing alone b
@@ilikewatches only 'downside' is they keep pushing the prices up to reflect the quality. They've gone from a sub 200 brand to a sub 300 brand. They are definitely worth it but not quite the impulse buys they used to be.
I'd actually go further. If that watch had Omega on the dial (and an in-house Omega movement) you're looking at £5k imo. A heritage Swiss brand would charge £500+ for a branded version of the clasp (this year I managed to buy my grail - a Panerai. Panerai want £180 for just a standard steel buckle with the word 'Panerai' on it).
I think you've just introduced me to my next watch! I use a GMT regularly as my partner lives in another time zone and I absolutely love a clean and smart looking watch with an attractive dial like this 😍 Plus I'm a fan of San Martin watches anyway.
I've been so tempted with this on and off, it's definitely my favourite SM release from afar, keen to get it in hand. Much more interesting dial than the launch spec. Great close ups.
Pretty watch for sure. It would be interesting to see a head-to-head comparison with the Addiesdive sand dial. (By a strange coincidence, my only published work of fiction - way back in the 70s and not about watches - was a short story called “Sandial.”)
It's quite an attractive watch and all the better for not attempting a direct copy. Now it's easier to enjoy it for what it is. Looks a bit too chunky for me, but I tend to have that quickly with large functional bezels. The dial textire is very pleasing, though I found the granularity as shown in the macro perhaps less so. This remainds me of RZEs textired dial release recently. Quite attractive texture, but the grain of the finish itself not so much. But well, that's all downcto personal preference.
Easily one of San Martin's best releases, if not the best. Specs, dimensions, and finishing all look top notch. The only thing that stopped me from buying it is that insanely long clasp.
Great looking watch, just wish they hadn’t polished the centre link, other than that perfect. Would also like to see a blue dial variant 🤞. Keep up the good work. 11/11 sale just round the corner, I expect you’ll be busy 👍
It's a very nice watch. Good looking dial. From your video it looks very similar to the Addies dial. Will be interesting to see the full review and know if there's a difference from the Addies Dive. Thanks again Gary!! 😊
I bought it…I love it, but there are two small negatives for me. First, I wish the tip of the GMT hand had the matching red color. It would really help differentiate it from the hour hand. I find myself misreading the time on occasion cuz the GMT hand does seem a bit more prominent when you glance down. Secondly…if that bezel was just a a TINY bit wider, I think it would look sooooo much better. I know they probably wanted to ensure they didn’t copy the Explorer too much, but there’s a reason why the Explorer is such a perfect design…symmetry and proportion! Like I said, I absolutely love this watch, but the bezel does look a little thin…..
frustrated and relieved that san martin dont offer bigger versions of their watches - frustrated for missing out on some absolute stunners such as this one. Relieved because money
It's one of my favs but it wouldn't suit my current lifestyle. I see it as being an ideal office piece paired with suit and tie, but I work in a home office in jeans and Tshirt and as such I don't think this one would get much if any wrist time. If I go back to being a suit and tie guy, I would be looking at this one for sure.
Do you think you can use your influence to get them to make a different bracelet? - I've swapped mine out for the brushed bracelet off of their SN0008-G & just re-used the end links... looks so much better!
Hi - lovely; I saw your pics before I noticed this vid was up! Anyhow, I've got this one too and I left a comment in another vid about how favourably it compared to a couple of my Swiss watches under a loupe, which seemed to upset at least one person... Would you consider doing a vid comparing it your Grand Seiko under macro?
Thanks re the GS comparison - will be very interesting... The dial looks beautiful, but I would like to see it in the sn0116 case with the beads of rice bracelet. Great macro shots. The comment that this is an Addiesdive homage isn't far off the mark 🤣 but I couldn't buy an Addiesdive, that logo is horrible.
I got the San Martin panda chronograph with the seagull manual movement and to be honest it feels more like a specs check list than a quality watch. Bracelet looks better than it feels, crown operation feels like you're going to break something, like a 1940's watch and the chronograph buttons are unprecise and the nuts holding them are quite loose. I can't give a bad review because I got a manual chronograph movement for 260$ but if I was looking for a quality 300$ watch with an amazing dial I'd go right away to get a Zelos with MOP mosaic dial before they get sold out.
Once you have people in far off lands that require your attention regularly, the GMT becomes highly useful. Aesthetically, it’s whatever you like… personally, I love it, but I could see how it could be a distraction to those who don’t make use of it.
This would have to be one of the "least offensive" GMTs they could make as the GMT is subtle with no red time, and the 24-hour bezel doesn't scream with bright colors. If going a GMT though, I much prefer going the whole hog with a rotating bezel. I set the time to local time, GMT hand to GMT time, and then use the bezel to find out the time in another time zone, just by clicking how much it is forward or back from GMT. I don't bother with any GMT unless the bezel rotates.

Wonder if it's the same dial that addiesdive use?
It's not the same, the text is moulded into the dial and then coloured and it's a different finish.
