I was pretty close to buying the 41mm version of the real thing a few years back and it's kinda funny that SM's 2.0 version of the design does away with most of the niggles I had with the Omega - some of which kept me from actually pulling the trigger. Going with the smaller size certainly helps (the 41mm versions I had in hand all felt a bit too large for my wrist) plus I much prefer the all brushed bracelet and non-butterfly clasp on the homage. I wouldn't want to compare the cases and finishing based on a YT-video of the homage and a 2-year-old memory of the real thing, but - from what I can tell - the SM looks pretty damn close to the original. Those twisted lugs are essential to the design I think and they probably aren't easy to finish, but (to me) they look very similar to what you get on the Swiss watch. My only real gripe with the SM is that they're using the NH35 again - would be nice to at least have the option to upgrade to a 4Hz movement like the PT5000.
@@ivoshandor6859 When the logo is applied and polished, it reflects a lot, which makes the dial look too busy in my opinion. Can't wear my san martin watch anywhere near the sun, or even near a lamp. The printed logo is fine though
Thanks for the professional review. It's nice to see that San Martin has a Omega hommage added to their collection. And a very nice one! I think i will go for the green version. It's funny by the way to see your video's because your hands look exact like mine 👋
That’s hilarious 😂. But I totally know what you mean. Don’t remember who the youtuber was but I couldn’t stop looking at his hands and kept thinking that could be my hands 😆
@@HHWatchReviews🤣I have the same with your hands! I also like the shot very much at 8:00; it puts the watch into perspective and one can clearly see 🧐how the watch looks on your arm. 💪
They need to rethink the logo. Make the symbol smaller and add some text under it à la most of the brands they are copying. As it stands the logo just throws off most dials.
@vael_ a while ago they did a post regarding the redesign but I think that it got cancelled. I think it had something to do with not finding the right branding or logo that matched their vision and values and so they decided to leave as is for now.
Good review! I own the same color way. I really enjoy this watch! I would never spend the money on the original. So, I’m glad this “homage” is available 👍🏻😊
I agree with your thoughts about the clasp , in my opinion this clasp looks good in divers not a dressy/daily watch like this one. I hope in the restock version they would use a bit smaller clasp , they have a milanese bracelet with quick adjust and with a very small clasp. I wish they would use that clasp.
That Milanese bracelet is new and yeah the clasp on it is very nice. I don’t expect it to be on this watch but I do hope that future watches have that clasp
Hey! lovely review, just wanted to ask which colour is that suede strap? I'm getting one from the website in your description but unsure if it's grey or black suede. Thanks in advance!
I gave this blue one featured. Love it ❤. Colour and design generally 👍( yes I know it’s a .. homage ) a delight and though looks a little small on a c7.2 “ it actually suits it if you follow. Paid £166 all in from watchdives and highly recommended
Looks good. I kinda wish the bezel was brushed. Or at least have that as an option. Clasp looks too chunky for the vibe this is putting out. Black option?
This model Watchdives/San martin watch is selling like hotcakes for them, and I can see why. They're eating everybody's lunch.........they have some exceptional watches, the quality is much higher than I ever expected. I have a few watches from Watchdives, I refuse to pay hundreds more or even thousands of $$$ on a watch.
Other than the movement it's probably as good as the original. I think the improvements make the watch better, but these are things they should have got right in the biggening
I don’t think it’s necessary that I mention Aqua Terra if it’s so clear that that’s what it homages. Plus it is mentioned in the description of the video
For the price, it needs more lume. Interesting, because usually San Martin is very good when it comes to great lume. The quick adjust clasp is what it is because that takes more space than the conventional micro adjust clasp. I'll take it with the quick adjustment clasp any time. Thanks for the review,
Don’t understand how you can talk about the “ striking dual and ifs design excellence etc” …. And fail to bring it anywhere close to the camera ?!! Other reviewers manage it - your rationale is ….?
It looks exactly like an aquaterra.
It doesn't
Close enough
@@ProtomanZ it does.
@@ProtomanZ you're right it looks more like an omega speedmaster or cartier tank. Regardless, very original design.

I always down for a slimmer profile so if a change in movement can make the case slimmer then let’s go!
@@HHWatchReviews Yup... thickness (or lack thereof) is one area where the Chinese brands need to do some catching up.
Nice review! I've been wanting this one for a while so I will probably have to get one when they restock them!
Thanks! Yeah definitely check it out when they restock. Don’t know how many will be available so they might sell out fast
I like the San Martin logo.
I do too. I don’t understand why people on Reddit are constantly whining about it. It’s one of the better and less obtrusive logos.

I agree with you. Even though it doesn’t look bad on this watch, I still prefer the San Martin text logo

Will ever someone make a decent homage of the tank solo small with this level of quality?
That would be one I would really be interested in

what is the lume like?
It's just okay, it's better than nothing but not going to last all night like a good diver.

Ditch the NH movement for at least a PT 5000 or preferably a SW200.

Black option is supposed to be released when these will restock. So definitely jump on it before they sell out
To homage better they put a shiny bezel. But yeah I feel it's gonna get banged up...
Anyone know if this comes in 40mm?
great review! I would have preferred the same hands as the AT or at least a shorter hour hand with this design.
If any micro brand can get to the level of lume that most Seiko’s have, this will sector get interesting.

These homages keep getting better and better EXCEPT for the refusal to move on from Seiko NH movements. 28800 vph matters!
I guess as long as Seiko makes these movements, they’ll keep using them
Why can't they put in a pt without charging $300 USD lol

Not really. People who can afford an Aqua Terra will still buy an Aqua Terra. This is for a completely different market.
