How many great service members today would not have even served if Genesis had existed before, I wonder? How many *gasp* respected officers? You can't judge a person today by what they were prescribed or what they had to visit a doctor for 7 or 8 years ago, unless the condition is still relevant/present. I’m 27, not a felon. I’m going to see my Navy recruiter in a couple weeks. I wasn’t planning on telling them I had hernia surgery in 2014, however with MHS Genisis, I have no choice but to be honest about it now. It’s been 9 years now and I’ve never had any issues or pain/ taken any medication for it, even in the healing process. If they ask for documentation, I’m not exactly sure how to get it and I’m not even sure if that guy is a surgeon anymore. Haven’t seen him in 9 years now
Just be transparent with your recruiter and tell them same thing, you just told me. For the most, you'll most likely write a handwritten statement, if you can't get that documentation. Other than that, I'm sure this will not stop you from joining.
Go army they will slide u thru don’t say a peep trust me 27 just did everything you set out to do this month ! They don’t know shut it’s all a fuckin bluff $!
I know I’m late but hopefully I get a response. I’m currently 28 and am trying to join the army, I had surgery for a descended testical in 1997. Do you think that’ll show up? Is it something I would need a waiver for?
Due to this occurring so long ago and medical records not being tracked that far back by the military, you will not have to provide military documentation, but may need a hand written statement on your part stating the surgery. Do you have one or two testicals?
I’ve talked to my recruiter and gave him my documents, although I still need to get my transcripts in to him. I’m a junior in college but I failed last semester so I took this semester off. I owe my college money so they won’t give me my transcripts and I’m not really sure what to do. Do I tell me recruiter?
Go ahead and let your recruiter know, its no big deal. Are you able to log into your account for your college, if so, see if he will settle with a printout of course completed that reflect how many credits you have.
@@rmay883 the recruiter told my sister who has three degrees that she can’t go in as an officer, she would be an E-3 and have to work her way up to be an officer, bc there’s already a waiting list for those who’ve been serving for years to become an officer.
Degrees do not necessarily mean you will be picked up as an officer.. It's all dependent on GPA, MAJOR, score on the OAR and the available slots. With 3 degrees she should been able to qualify for some sort of officer though however.
I have been doing this process for several years now. It’s been a long journey (basically I needed to lose weight, I put it off etc) but I had a tummy tuck done outside of the country. I have no medical documents for it and I was cleared to process next week for my physical. I believe my recruiter said I’d need a waiver regardless but now I’m overthinking things. In 2016 I was going through my divorce and ended up in the hospital overnight for a mental breakdown. I didn’t disclose this in my original document pre genesis. Am I fucked? Did they already pull genesis?
I would not say that this would be disqualifying, it may just require an additional waiver, but it is imperative that you are upfront and honest with your recruiter. Also, you may have to write a hand written statement as to what happened during the 2016 incident. Overall, I do not feel this will hinder you from joining.
So could they disqualified you for a bruised foot there was no broken bones or torn ligament. The foot was bruised and I went to the urgent care were they just wrap me up And sent me home without a prescription and it was disclosed on any on the form could this come up on genesis

Let me break this question into 2 parts. For the knee surgery, obtaining the medical documentation and clearance letter from the doctor will suffice and be a medical waiver. As far as the injection, inform your recruiter and that is not a major issue as well. At the most, they will ask for paperwork and a handwritten statement. No worries. Hope this helps 🙏🏼 ☺️

According to the article on the video it looks like it’s for people who have an account or Tricare. Is this true? Because I didn’t see anything from people out in the civilian world.

I’m meeting with my recruiter this weekend to do finger prints and schedule my MEPS visit. He is suggesting that he send a clean medical screening, even though I told him I fractured my wrist 20yrs ago and had a concussion 12 years ago. I’m 32 yrs old, those things happened so long ago and in another state so I don’t remember what hospitals I went to. I’ve even called random hospitals to request records but no one has anything. I’m wanting to join the guard but I’m nervous about lying because it’s not worth it to me. The problem I have though is if I disclose this info and the meps doctors want records, I have no way to produce these records
That is understandable and it is okay if you are nervous, but typically MEPS doesn't go back more than 10 years due to medical records not being present. So, it is ok to follow what your recruiter is saying and not divulge any information that could possibly disqualify you. Listen to your recruiter and the process will be a lot smoother.
Did you have surgery for wrist? If so, is there retained hardware? In that case, just disclose it. If you can’t get records they may just get an orthopedic consult with X-rays to make determination. Usually not an issue, but you want it know before BMT. 1 concussion isn’t disqualifying. Just list it and be done. Recruiters freak out too much and give bad advice. Even if the old records don’t pull, your past medical history could be in recent documents, and now you’re “concealing”. Just be honest. On the 2807-2.

If you have submitted all of your documentation and have been cleared to go through MEPS, then they have all of the information they need for all the medical history you have already claimed. However, if you relay to them something that was not stated on your 2807, then this will be considered a "hit" on your medical portion and delay your process. However, to answer your question, typically you would have to be off the prescription medication for 6-12 months, but being that you have taken the medication in some while, have your doctor put that in writing. Furthermore, have the state that you no longer need the medicine, if this is the case, so that you can be able to submit the documentation to your recruiter and have a medical evaluation done by MEPS.

They just started checking medical history recently. It screwed me over and delayed my process a couple weeks because I didn’t mention a medication I took a few years back. You can't judge a person today by what they were prescribed or what they had to visit a doctor for 7 or 8 years ago, unless the condition is still relevant/present. That's the whole point of the medical and physical test screening, isn't it? This is where even I who wants to get into robotics says, certain jobs are not better left to machines and definitely need a human judgment and nuance component.

I would not say that this would be disqualifying, it may just require an additional waiver, but it is imperative that you are upfront and honest with your recruiter.

No, the newer generation of applicants more than likely has a digital medical record, so their medical history can be tracked and seen via consent. You do not need a tricare account.

Hey, what's up! First and foremost inform your recruiter of what you just told me to ensure they are aware and can give you the best insight based on their opinion.

Provide the prescribing doctors office records, pharmacy records for last 36 months and a summary letter from therapist stating start date, discharge date, diagnosis(es) and if goals were met or not and prognosis.
