I was a Navy Recruiter up until recently. This is on point. Only for us it was 'if you make 2 appointments, you can go for the day'. But if you weren't on track with your 2 a month, there was no 'go home' there was find more people to create the funnel. It was hard, and insane, but I'd do it again. I loved the people I worked with, and the chain of command was pretty good all things considered.
You make your 3 for the month, but the Station hasn't made their goal, then the Station makes goal but the Zone hasn't yet, then the Zone makes it but the District hasn't. All your prospects you're looking at putting in next month are Cat I/II's, but District tells you three days before the end of the month they will only take Cat III's. No mercy. I was lucky some news reporter didn't find somewhere walking in a little circle mumbling to myself out in public. At least as a Chief I could carry cards in my hat to fill out for people we met around town while in uniform. Recruiting wasn't voluntary.
I did not succumb to that kind of pressure. I made my three and front loaded for the next month. The Zone, and District for that matter, made no such accommodation for me so I reciprocated. Gaming the Freeman Plan was a piece of cake!
17 grand a year I was told it would be disposable income if I stayed and ate on base. I literally couldn't live off base if I wanted to especially in a high cost of living area.
I ended up homeless five times after the military.. It took 8 yrs to get my disability rating. I have $40,000 dollars in student loans to get an education and get off the streets, and I can't afford to pay on my loans AT ALL! Risk your life to be treated like trash?!?! Cowardly or not... these kids are smart enough to see the emptiness.
I agree! My recruiter promised me the loan repayment program. But when I got to Ft. Drum, the in breads at the s -1 refused to help me. A midget sgt, got an attitude with me. He was infantry working at the s-1. That should be illegal. Now no one will help me. I owe my recruiter a punch in the face!
Lol been completely honest, that sounds like a you problem… military provides all the right tools to succeed… I bought two houses while been in Air Force and finish my career in cybersecurity basically free didn’t have to pay at all … now making over 150k a year working a easy gig so idk lol
I was trying to get into the airforce things were going slowly and one day all the comunication stopped i was ghosted only to later find out my recruiter had committed suicide they took a bullet for me.
Enjoy your videos. Would be interested to hear what you think leaders could do today to make people want to stay. No one wants to talk about what the services need to do in 2023 and beyond to be truly competitive in retaining talent.
Was a Navy recruiter from 1985-1988. Brutal! Chain of command was just a chain. I survived the tour but vowed to never come back. I was pressured to go back for my final tour before retirement, but told the detailer that would be a very bad idea. I would simply occupy a chair and be a drain until I retired. No punishment would be effective because I knew how the system worked and could easily game it. I won my case.
No one can join now. if you’re a good parent, you’ve taken your kids to regular doctor check ups, then they have most likely been prescribed and has inhaler at one point and some other kind of cognitive diagnosis it’s just part of being a good parent.
I They have a local army reserve in town, and it aslo depend on what you want to do , I just filled out the online application for infantry man, will go to the location and talk in person
My experience with a recruiter. My very short but very fit daughter went into a recruiters to ask about the Navy. To say he was dismissive is putting it mildly, but she soldiered on {jk. Then he put a test in front of her, okay, fill this out. She not only "fills it out" she knocks it out of the ballpark. So he gives her another and another --- she passes them all with perfect scores. It wasn't until he brought out tests about the mechanics of cars that she began to falter. At this point he almost threw her over his shoulder and to take her to the medical office. (I forget what it's called.) A time scheduling problem prevented her from going, but she probably would have otherwise. What ended up happening is she actually made it in to the Naval Academy, yes, the one in Maryland. The good news for the recruiter is he got to swear her in.
You can't just turn a soldier into a salesman, especially if they're a combat vet (me, Vietnam. ) A recruiter isn't selling a product. They're offering an opportunity. I recruited out of Quincy Mass. It was brutal.
Regarding the overview of the primary market segment, I would argue that college is going out of favor with many men, as shown by the diminished share of college graduates among men and the explosion of trade schools. College isn't seen as the golden ticket that it once was due to decreased quality of education, increase of cost thanks to the government guaranteeing debt (they can charge tuition as they want knowing that the government will underwrite it), and the increase of bullshit liberal arts degrees which prepare students for absolutely nothing. Men want adventure and to better themselves. Recruitment efforts should focus on that. More ads about SF speaking to Pashtuni locals in their own language. More recruitment about infantry doing cool infantry things. Less videos about how many moms a Patriot missile operator has.
I wanted to ask this question to all the Navy recruiters out there can anyone please tell me if an applicant can join the Navy while on unsupervised probation? I keep getting the run-around and just want a solid answer can anyone help I live in VA Lemons, I know we spoke on IG and you stated I could join the Navy, there was a policy update in December/ January of this year so is there anything my recruiter can do to get around this?
More than likely you will have to wait until the probation is up, if recruiters are giving you the run around. This time frame can give you time to study for the ASVAB, as well as take it to secure a qualifying score until you are ready to join.
2nd time to say something on here , my family has a very long tradition serving this Country my father was a WWII, KOREAN, VIETNAM, veteran i went in 76 Army, Navy , wife , my two oldestest sons oldest got wounded in Iraq, 2nd son Afghanistan with 82nd , then joined guard here in Idaho went to Syria tried to teach them the proper way 1st Sgt got butt hurt and CO. Had words and busted down to E4 from SSgt E6 he was 82nd airborn and worked with special forces. He said they only care about promoting themselves, and going woke . We all are done , my 4 grandsons will not go in period ( unless they really feel they should ) other then that no .why fight for Corrupt politicians and Elitist that are running this Country to enrich themselves. The only way we will fight is if the bastards come here on our soil .
The United States Navy did not want me back in 2012 when I actually was interested in enlisting because of my disability. Now I do not care. You didn't want me then, so screw you now and your struggles in recruiting.
So you said you wanted to help people by recruiting them into the military. How the H did you help them if they go to war and get their arms and legs blown off?
@@kevinlee5753 You notice I said "IF" and that is something that young people aren't going to even take a chance on. You better get use to the word NOPE! But again how did you help those people that are now missing legs and arms.
As a former recruiter and senior recruiter, military is not for everyone. The ones that need help are mostly those that need to focus their lives, leave their hostile environment, find a career, extra money for college, or grow up. Granted the Air Force was different than the other branches. I did every thing to help future Airmen to get them in jobs that would help them in the long run and each were treated as if i was working with my own children. Thank God, i made goal each month but it took a heavy toll on me personally, health wise, mentally, and for my family. The guy hit right on the nail, extremely long hours, sometimes seven days a week, 12 hour days.
@@martyransom6710 If that is all it was, that would be great. But we both know that there is a chance of going to war these days. And as a civilian I can say there is nothing to fight for in this oligarchy except poverty wages for the people they will want to fight it. And I don't want to see those that have nothing to fight for have to fight that D war. Let those that have the money and the people in congress fight. After all we are only changing out one oligarchy for another one.
What all services could do to improve their image, and therefore recruitment and retention, is improve their image as the all best that America stands for. Demonstrate the benefits to mind and body. Demonstrate how a disciplined approach is most effective in all parts of our lives. Take care of veterans after their service, particularly disabled vets. If tuition assistance while in service is offered, compel commands to let service members participate whenever possible. I had to fight tooth and nail quarterly to get approval even on shore duty due to imagined "operational commitments". Make our military great again and STOP sending us to fight someone else's wars. Featuring a drag queen as a recruiting tool was a grave mistake. I pray we will eventually recover from it.

Nobody wants to fight for a country where everything is taken from them through family court.
They are putting their lives on the line to end up homeless!

Jobs in 2023 demand everything from you but can't even pay enough for your own apartment.
MOST REAL COMMENT IVE READ THIS YEAR.

Good for you. I came in the army an orphan with murdered parents. I'm glad you had a support system when you got out. LOL! Arrogant prick...
Air force is more of a corporation than it is a military branch. For example, don't go to infantry in the army if possible.

I was a supply clerk. I was promised no combat arms. But guess what I was sent to infantry! That should have not not of happened to me!

Just pay more to enlisted
Because doing so would be the equivalent of joining a criminal organization

Well you get what you get.not happening on anything to do with military.too woke

That Trans crap is wild😮😮 idk that those types of people were really becoming more relevant, good lord
I don't care, I'm excited on what being a recruiter is going to do for me and my family.
Yeah you're accepting food stamps and welfare having a family in the military that's what it is
