      +Dave Strider (Future) Then you bring your parents along, talk to other marines or bring a lawyer to look over the contract if you proceeded that far. Reach out to people who can and want to help you. You are making the decision, so be mature about it. The only thing that will lower your chances is your health and test scores. Dont let them fuck you.

      If you have any questions please shoot me an email at johnfrost@gmail.com. My name is Cpl. Frost of the United States Marine Corps. The initial decision of enlisting is the scariest part, but you have to know what you want to do. Many things you don't have to be afraid of. All of these men and dickheads saying you're gonna be brainwashed and it'll make you or break you is bull. They're trying to scare you into a certain mindset. Block it all out. Bring a buddy when you see the recruiter or even a parent. Heck I'd even take notes. Anyways shoot me an email if I haven't answered any further questions or if you have more questions. I'm on my email almost all the time. Thankyou.

The next day I drove an hour to go meet him and I took an ASVAB practice test in the office and got 43. Then he called up his what he called "boss" and he talked to me. Long story short. Tuesday I get a free ride to meps and a free stay in a nice ass hotel and then I'll be a poolee

    As an Airman I LOVE the marine corps. They always treat us with respect and are very down to earth great guys. When I had a chaplain appointment in tech school at fort lee (an army base). I asked a marine warrant officer for directions. He made phone calls and went out of his way to make sure I got to the appointment that i very much needed to attend. Other branches talk shit on each other, thats okay, I have just as much respect for the marine corps as anyone else. Regardless if you are an Airman like me, a marine, sailor soldier or coast guardsman, you are a brother or sister🇺🇸

    In all fairness, you need to admire his tenacity. That MOS sucks. Female marine here. Don't ever just talk to someone off the street like this. Do your own homework-lots of it-and go in prepared. Research every branch and ask yourself if you want to even join. Then go in with a parent and talk and talk. Nobody ever lied to me bur there was a lot of bending of the truth and things that they neglected to mention that you might not catch if you just walk in off the street.

    People who say "Recruiters don't give a shit about you only the monthly quota" are far from wrong. I'm a POOLE, and never once has there been any sign what so ever that they don't give a shit, completely the opposite. We've had days at the recruiting office where they'll invite you to hangout, text from to time time to hangout outside the office, hell if they know something's wrong they do the best they can to help out even with school work. Recruiters are by far some of the nicest guys you can meet and are only there because they want you to succeed. (We also have guests who come in regularly and who aren't interested in joining that are always welcome and are always treated the same with full respect.)

    • @dustylefou
      @dustylefou 9 лет назад +11

      I was a recruiter, and yes, we only cared about our quotas because most of us would rather be back in the fleet doing our real jobs instead of having our careers depend on the whims of 17 year olds. People don't sign up for the Marines to be recruiters. Of course we are nice to you - we want you to like us so you'll sign up and our bosses will stop yelling at us or making us walk around WalMart at midnight to find new applicants. lol

    • @terenceperson1204
      @terenceperson1204 9 месяцев назад

      cause they don't obviously they only care about the quota they deadass get forced to become recruiters because noone wants to become one. then they get scolded and if they dont reacht heir quota they could get denied a promotion for a job they didnt even want.

    i must be going for a good reason then. i took a year to work and really think about what i wanted to do after high school even though i have always thought military. i was told that they lie from the start but the money they offer never really peaked my interest, I want to go to protect people. and as far as the chance that i die, i know it can happen (maybe not fully) but im taking the risk so i can try and prevent others from dieing.

    I came from a long line of Marines so I had heard every horror story from Boot Camp to the Fleet to EAS. I remember just sitting there as the Recruiter laid down all that bullshit...."yea man, you put the Blues on and panty's get wet for miles"...was about the only true thing he said. I went in a guaranteed 0311. My only fear was being made a Pog and never hearing the end of it from my relatives (all 03's and nobody ever rose above Corporal since the war of 1812....though some were promoted to Corporal more than once). Not much shit you can talk about an 0311 MOS. The entire Marine Corps is built around it. I couldn't do Recruiter Duty. It's basic aggressive sales. I could never work in Sales.

    one time two recruiters came to my school in Missouri and had a long ass chat with me and I barely said a word. One guy showed me what they do, where they do it, and why. After about 15 minutes he asked whether I'll join, I grabbed as many freebies as possible, sat there and just said "mate, I'm from Australia" (actually am though). Never seen such a disappointed look in my life

    I am a Poolie in the USMC and my ship date is 20120117 (Jan. 17th 2012).. My recruiter was helpful, no pressure, and I felt like he took care of me. I believe it is wise to be somewhat guarded when it comes to talking to recruiters, but I guarantee that 95% of Marine Recruiters will not give you inaccurate information. I have some videos on my profile about the Process of Enlistment. If you're thinking of joining the USMC then you should watch them.

    Recruiters are unique in the way that they get to live and work in the civilian world while still wearing the uniform. It can be a difficult temptation to get "detached" from the normal day-to-day stuff of their respective branch.

    😂😂😂I think it's so funny when people say recruiters are liars.. They tell you want you want to hear . If you don't know how to do research to corroborate what they said then that's on you. The military does help with schooling most people that I see complaining can't do the schooling because of their jobs in the military. So they say oh he lied to me said I could go to school and I couldn't ... Or when they say they want to travel.. But can't exactly travel how they want to.. The smart thing to do is to research on your on and then go talk. That way you can have some knowledge of stuff and find people who just recent joined and finished their basic training your recruiter might not even know what basic is like or any questions you have for it but yeah I'm off my soapbox

    • @A_10_PaAng_111
      @A_10_PaAng_111 9 лет назад +5

      In other words do the recruiters job for him? You're just corroborating what people are saying about how recruiters lied. As far as quotas? Of course they have quotas.

    99% of these recruits will come back better than when they left civilian life. I prefer these young people join the core than loaf through their young years. Not having spent some time in the military is probably the only thing I regret.
