To Sean Briskey, the guitarist recreating Larry Carlton’s infamous, world class solo, note for note: incredible! I’m so very impressed. All you guys deserve way more RUclips subscribers, and I’ll do my part to spread the word among my fellow Dan Fans...
I ran into Colin’s dad out in the wild and I told him how much I loved his work as well as his son’s. His dad is a very well musician, writer, and producer that has written hits for his groups as well as others. Chances are you probably know them.
WOW. NAILED IT. So impressive to see such talented, awesome musicians, and then they have vocal chops to boot, which is like a huge dollop of whipped cream and cherry on the already delectable cake.
I saw these cats last nght at the Wildey in Edwardsville, they are an outstanding band, Tight, really tight. Great show, everyone needs to see this band. One of the best shows I've seen all year.
OUT FRICKING STANDING; I have seen a lot of bands cover Steely Dan hits in my time, I can honestly say one of the best, if not the best I’ve seen, vocals, guitar solo, keyboards, note for note, spot on. I was waiting for Michael Macdonald’s voice to come in on the background vocals. Good job.
This is my new favorite band! These guys are the real deal. A Steely Dan tribute band is a most noble pursuit. Becker and Fagen would be impressed and flattered.
When i clicked the video, I'll admit that my expectations were low, but as soon as his voice hit, my jaw dropped!!! Absolutely outstanding cover of this classic! And i still can't get over how close your voice is to Fagen's, amazing.
Wow! Just stumbled across you guys. I'm a product of the 70's. SD is one of my favorite groups. You guys are excellent. You and Leniod and Friends are the best cover bands I have heard.
Seen these kats in Cleveland, OH 2 weeks ago......PHENOMENAL performance, probably the best sounding show I've ever been to in this type of setting as well. I literally discovered these guys about 6 days before I looked up their schedule to find out they were a few hours away from me that week......SO glad we made the trip to see them perform these epic hits that are, as a guitar player myself, extremely hard to execute. And to recreate it live for people is a genuine treat to the ears ! Thanks fellas, hope to see ya in western PA soon !!!!
Hey how about some recognition for Sean's outro solo? Really tremendous work. Yes, one needs to be respectful of the original material, but the sign of a true musician is that you can at the same time add to that legacy. Has Larry Carlton heard you play?
I've seen a few Dan tribute bands over the years. None, so far, can touch you guys; and the others had brass and vocal gals and percussion! Your lead vox is the best and closest to Donald's. Amazing job, guys. (-:
Have you heard Jerry Marotta’s band, I forget what they’re called but they’re on RUclips here and they are pretty amazing that lead singer really nails Donald. These guys are great though for sure.
This isnt the hardest song to cover but it's not the easiest either.most covers I've heard of this amazing song were cool and some sounded quite well but never quite the same as the original studio version.which I understand people have their own styles and put there own twist on it but to be able to play such a intriquite song in the style of the artist who wrote it and almost entirely the same with the exception of a few parts shows great musicianship and a great ability to really listen to what the original musicians are doing. and to pick it apart and use there musical knowledge to go into the studio and remake that sound almost exactly like the original, especially a sound like this masterpiece also shows a great amount of patience and dedication into music itself, and not just on the level of music in it's basic form, not just as an art form but really throwing yourself into the science of the music and the technical parts of it,really learning and retaining the music in every aspect.i love to see that there's still musicians that really invest themselves into the sound and what you can do with it.brooklyn charmers,I applaud you.love the sound love your energy, love your precision on this cover.keep it up.never stop lovin the music, and love from Savannah ga.🤙🤙
Beautiful! Really nicely done, I got a little worried when I realized the bass player was going to have to do a McDonald but goddamn did he pull it off
Tasty. Really nice -- flawlessly performed with a distinctive flair and with an absolutely monster version of one of the best guitar solos in rock. And an equally ridiculous guitar outro.
Great job! I'm actually getting ready to perform in a band (keyboards and vocals) that'll do this tune. I wrote a keyboard part that was funky and a bit elaborate. It ended up being too complicated to try and play and sing all at the same time, at least in the time I have to put it together. I'm really glad I came across this video - your pianist sings like a bird, and his piano playing is the perfect balance between funky and "pad-y" to fill out the sound without creating coordination issues. Thank you for the insights and fabulous playing!
Came here wanting to laugh at this but the joke is on me because only 40 seconds in I am pausing to say you lads are EXCELLENT. Bravo. Touch of the James Taylors on vocals, which is very interesting.
Sweeeet. Nice, tight performance, good vocals, inventive and very clean guitar work. High hat work added much. May I say a word about the bass? It’s too often overlooked. Not much fireworks here, but always in the pocket, which is job-1 for the rhythm section. Congrats all around on a very fine rendition.
thumbs up for people who care about musical competence
Competence? You damn them with faint praise.
That bass... THAT BASS!!!
"Is there bass in the band?...
Yes! There's bass in the baaaand"
Love for the bassist backing vocals too.
@@lokilxix Yea that guy can play. I'm a bassist but stand in awe as my cats are my only audience most of the time.
He's pretty damn good and smooth.
The bassist was very good and had it down beautifully.
The drummist impressed me, too!
Q: Is there gas in the car?
A: Yes, there's gas in the car
You mean “cahhh”.
There was, in fact, not a lot of gas in the car.
Probably my fave Steely Dan line/lyric! Call and response, so clever
Nailed that solo..one of the best solos ever put on tape in my humble opinion.
Absolutely.
Absolutely. With the clean sound that solo has to be spot on. Very nice.
Note perfect for sure but note picking nor sound. Just goes to show how uniquely takented. Larry Carlton and his semi-solid Gibson was...
@@stevemd6488 C'mon he nailed it. Live. Period. You just couldn't help yourself. ROTFL. Different pickup?

It wasn’t note for note. Idk what that crap at the end was
Amazing, one of the hardest solos to play
Amazing bass line.....smokin...
How comforting to know Steely Dan is in good hands. That was FANTASTIC! It does an old heart good I tell ya.
Nice vocals too. Nice to see young people doing this so well.
Thanks! :)
Nice name

Great voice, harmonies, excellent musicianship. Tight. Enjoyable. I'd pay to see ya...
Well, you can because they tour. I saw them for the second time last night and I'm telling you you will never be disappointed. These guys are awesome.
I saw these cats last nght at the Wildey in Edwardsville, they are an outstanding band, Tight, really tight. Great show, everyone needs to see this band. One of the best shows I've seen all year.
Thanks so much Brian!!! Hope to see you again in February!!
We are going to the Wildey show this year (2024), you guys sound awesome!
Killer! :) 😎 All there stuff is killer Posted by Chillie aka Cool Pop - 5/2023
Probably my favorite SD song, and cover by you guys....so far!
Good job.
That guitarist absolutely slayed.
Dont EVER stop sharing this Music! Really tight, Musicianship! Thanks to the WHOLE TROUP! That Larry Carlton effort IS TIMELESS EPIC!
As a life long Steely Dan fan and this being one of my favorite songs this is one of the best covers I've ever heard!!!!
One helluva band
That frikkin bass line though...
I've seen a few Steely Dan cover bands in my time... nothing compares to these guys... just awesome.
Wow! Absolutely fantastic!
Must be some competition when it comes to who gets to play what solos!
Colin sounds just like Donald Fagan. Wow!

And his mannerisms even mimic Donald Fagen’s. These kids probably weren’t even born when this song came out. Amazing!
You need to see them live. They are beyond amazing.
Wow!!
I am blown away gentlemen. Thank you for bringing a live performance feeling right to my tablet. You added a liiitle magic to my evening!
Yes indeedy!
Best cover of this song I've ever heard. Nice.
one of cleanest and most accurate covers of Steely Dan .. I'm actually using this one to learn the song, same key as the original, and cleaner
SUPERB cover of that guitar solo!
Couldn't be any better and I have been listening to this song since the 70s.
Larry Carlton would approve. Nailed the solo.

Guitar, vocals, key board, percussion all perfection! Love this!
Damn! You covered that Larry Carlton solo note for note. I'm impressed.
You guys are so tight. Best Steely Dan cover band anywhere
No comparison at all.
Wow
The dude that had the fucking HONOR of busting out the closing guitar on Kid fucking NAILED IT. love!
Doing Steely Dan RIGHT!
Excellent cover, everything's in place, sound, interpretation, style 👌 A great tribute to one of the greatest bands ever 😍

Yes, there’s gas in the caaaar
The best SD tribute band? If not, then probably the most faithful to the original recordings. Really been enjoying listening to this band's SD covers.
Even brought in Mike MacDonald for those signature vocal back-ups!!! 😅❤
So good to see the music of Steely Dan in such good hands; well done and thank you! 🎸etc🍾❤️
Keyboardist has sunglasses on in a very well lit studio.. cool:) u guys are awesome, wish i had a band like u
That was outrageously good - put a big smile on my dial.
The musicianship here is just incredible. And the guitar solos achingly beautiful. I actually like this version better than Steely Dan’s!!
This cover is *perfection*

Dan Fans understand the creativity & musicality of Steely, so BRAVO!! Great cover! DOCTOR WU anything on Katy Lied , Please!
That bassists grin when he hit the low note at the beginning. Pure joy.

Best professional SD cover band I’ve heard, and I’ve heard dozens. Bravo!
Excellent cover of a great Steely Dan song. You nailed the Larry Carlton lead. So good. Subscribed!
Also, very good mix.
Thanks Stephen! Colin (keys/vocals) is an audio engineer and studio owner of The Jam Lab in Brookfield, IL, (the home base for the Charmers!)

Not easy to play Purdie. My favorite Steely drummer hands down.
Purdie wasn't the technical monster that, say, Gadd is, but his feel is second to none. You play "Pretty" so well. Truly impressed.
I saw these guys in Broad Brook, CT about 1.5 years back. They did a good job.
All great. Impressive backing vocals.
Great drummer!
Top notch!!!
I am incredulous they carried it out to my discerning ear for Steely Dan! Very, very good!
Awesome! Well done! Found you looking for "Kid Charlemagne Covers".
You must buy tickets to see BC do The Royal Scam lol live for this song along. Just incredible!
🎼👌
As a seasoned musician, it didn't take me long to figure out how authentic, talented and well rehearsed this band is! Fantastic job!
Damn that solo at the end was tasty, flawlessly executed
👍🌺
A tribute to Owlsey , the bay area acid king and manufacturer in the 60s . Great job guys !
Well done guys. You perfectly nailed it❤ hi from italy

Damn. That was fantastic. You guys rock. Thanks! 🤘
Wow, heard of you guys...never dreamed you were this good! Such a faithful re-creation, thanks for your dedication in making this
Can‘t wait for a possible PEG performance and guitar solo. You guys are awesome
Yep, would be one of my favorites too.
Nice Drumming too!
You guys kill it on these steely dan tunes! Amazing work!!
Spectacularly good chaps - brilliant
Tasty. Really nice -- flawlessly performed with a distinctive flair and with an absolutely monster version of one of the best guitar solos in rock. And an equally ridiculous guitar outro.
i sincerely hope that Fagen has seen these guys. he would be so proud. RIP Walter Becker, you were so amazing and youll always be sorely missed.
The steely and the dan would like this 🎷
Great job! Solo was terrific!
Nice job Kevin Campbell 3:43 ! Very tastefully done
He friggin nailed that Michael McDonald part. Oh my.
Very nice. The guitar slinger nailed those solos…
really really good.. singer sounds a bit like Donald Fagan....Steely Dan was tight studio band.
Outro solo was very tasteful and unique. Bravo!
Best covers of sd I've seen so far. Dare I say some better than the originals.
Didt realise I was a Steely Span fan until I heard you guys! Awesome songs great chops great tunes good voices. Love it.
