As a former professional classical musician, my greatest joy came from being able to manifest those monumental works of the greatest musical geniuses humanity has ever produced. I can only imagine what it must feel like to be able to reproduce note-for-note these SD masterpieces. You all have my deepest respect.
@@1957PLATO why's it a stretch? the mode and medium of musical genius shifts through time and they did it about as well as anyone could in their own unique way, musically and lyrically. and it resonates with a lot of people. that's brilliant, plain and simple.
Im 63 this is what the world is missing great musicians and bands like we use to have, some bands are still around this is a great cover. The records company stopped promoting bands and it screwed up the music industry.
Thank you! Steely Dan is the sound track to my life. I was 8 yrs old in 72 when I heard my first Steely Dan song and I was hooked. Thank you for keeping this music alive.
Steely Dan are reality poets and exceptional musicians than their contemporaries, particularly The Eagles, that sold millions. Steely Dan is the best; Brooklyn Charmers gives justice to their legacy. Great cover as always. Thanks.
A new line up but still sounding great. I won't use all the audiophile mumbo jumbo and just say it was well worth piping it through my 3000 watt system so the whole neighborhood could hear it.
How? How the hell can anyone cover Aja and make it sound so painfully awesome?! This is incredible. Grinning ear to ear. I did not hear the famous Steve Gadd stick-click, however, so I'm a bit suspicious of THAT, but maybe I just missed it! Going to Patreon riiiight about now.
some of the most iconic drumming in a pop/rock song ever and Alex, you nailed it. A few extra rolls to put your mark on it as well as the rest of the guys. Awesome recreation
When I last saw Becker & Fagen in Aug. 2013 at Troutdale, Oregon's Edgefield Amphitheater, I could not believe that this magnum opus was the 2nd song on their setlist. That's when you know you have a very deep catalog of great songs. You all have honored the original "Aja" musicians magnificently here.
This was so delightful. Not only were all the musicians killing it, but Colin Peterik's video direction and editing took me right where I wanted to go, visually speaking. Thank you all for creating this performance. You rock.
Thank you Brooklyn Charmers. Your music brings me tremendous joy. Thank you for sharing your unbelievable talent with the world. Rock (or Jazz) on my brothers!
Saw them live in Aurora IL last night, they are easily the best Dan cover band around. Goosebumps when they played Aja!!!! Go see them if they’re in your neck of the woods
When this album came out I got it along with other by joining a record club. You know, 8 choices and a membership for a small fee. I was 16 and liked "Peg". I remember putting the album on and hearing "Aja" for the first time...transported. The whole album is perfect, but "Aja" is sublime.
Easily the most Mysterious and Difficult Steely Dan Sound to Cover, and you guys just NAIL it! Lyrical, with Precision and Nuance and inter Woven Jazz Notes.....Bravo! Bravo! Horn and Drums did not disappoint! The Real Gem to the Track! Kudos to the Max!
I've played in bands and seen a lot of cover bands been in the scene from the 80's to the present and you guys are the best cover band I've seen in 4 decades
I don't think I've ever heard Steely Dan covered so perfectly.
Best Steely Dan cover I've ever heard
The Brooklyn Charmers have easily become the best cover band I've ever seen
EASILY
Look at this ruclips.net/video/6VbU2IQ2n_E/видео.html
I used to think that, but there's a lot of other stuff out there on RUclips . not just Steely Dan but all types of bands
@@palmsofdestin1 Everybody’s got their niche and they fill theirs very well.
@@palmsofdestin1So true but parts of this version are quite good.

Ex ballerina understand musicians
Did. Prima twice😮😊
Scary
I love Steely Dan very, very much but to call them them the greatest musical geniuses is a bit of a stretch.

lololol the floating math equations during the dias solo is 10/10
WOW; I’m impressed!
Kudos to the drummer and the saxophone.
Guys seriously this gave me chills. One of the best rock songs of all time. Steve Gadd !! You guys are sooooo good. Talent !!!!
I went to see James Taylor recently... But half of me went to see Steve Gadd.. 😜.
Yeah, they're both still cookin!
I used to swear by the Brian Wilde group's covers of Steely Dan. Still do. But these Brooklyn Charmers are incredible!
Thank you! Steely Dan is the sound track to my life. I was 8 yrs old in 72 when I heard my first Steely Dan song and I was hooked. Thank you for keeping this music alive.
Same here, and liked them more as I got older.
Brings back the best memories of my young life in the valley.
The best❤
I was 10 and it had the same effect on me.
"Can't Buy A Thrill " was the first album I ever bought myself. It, and everything they've done since is magical.
Well well well, turns out they DO make 'em like they used to -- really impressive, fellas.
This is the quintessential Brooklyn Charmers tune.
An incredible reproduction of what is some difficult music to play. Timing, performance both vocally and instrumentally were amazing.
honey wake up, the charmers just posted
Wish there was a LOVE IT button!
Perfect. Just. Perfect. Wayne Shorter, Denny Dias, Walter Becker, Steve Gadd all played on this track. And you nailed it!

Such an amazing cover, and the amazing production of the original has been done justice too. Whoever mixed this is amazing !
Steely Dan...music worth playing!
He even had the whistle!
Incredible! Probably their most difficult song and you guys nailed it!
Damn! Ya'll play it EXACTLY like SD. Right down to a T. Kudos to you, gentlemen.
Love from Mumbai!!!! 🤗

Holy Shit guys! Incredible
YOOOOO The ending solo was really reminiscent of something I feel like Christopher Cross would've thrown down on the track. SHEEEESH.
Wow!....even the whistle!!
That was an amazing cover of Wayne Shorter's solo
Thanks for this!
One of SD’s hardest pieces to reproduce.
You fellas do it real justice 💕
The combination of the sax and the drums is nothing but magical. And the vocal speaks the story. It’s like something everyone should hear.
Those 2-stroke rolls tho...so smooth...
I gotta say the drumming was off the hook, amazing job the groove and the subtleties were spot on.
That double bass fill @ 5:22 YESSIREEEEE 🫡🫡🫡
High quality of one of the most technical songs ever recorded. Just ask Chuck Rainey or Steve Gadd. Excellent performance guys.
that dark green custom guitar with the paddle headstock and funky pick guard is pretty sweet
Excellence, great drumming.
Wow, awesome performance!!
That was a pleasure! Thank you.
Strong hug from Manaus.
Brilliant rendition of a great song.

The math behind the guitarist in the middle of the solo had me rolling. Amazing performance and a sub well earned🤣🤘

Fab 🎼👌
Glad I found this. ❤
Bravo. Just, bravo.
I hate these types of comments, but this is truly amazing! This song has 41 freaking guitar chords alone!
Man that was awesome. The tone and echo on the guitars was so sweet! Angular banjos, I mean.
Colin out here with the video effects!
Lets goooo

An absolutely amazing cover!
Where's the guitar player at :54 on the video in the final shot where the band says "thanks!". The new picker is really good ... but so is Mr. 54!
That was good
Superb

Oh my goodness! TBC is now my favorite (and best by far) SD cover band. Way to go. Thanks for keeping this musical magic alive.
Impeccable. Those Steve Gadd drum fills! Nicely done! Y'all are the best at what you do! (I also like North 41.)
