    Im a hiring manager in tech. The qaulity of candidates right now is insanely good. It sucks, i just filled a role on my team and while the finalists were very strong, the one who got the job was the best fit due to team match. Good luck to everyone out there applying.

    • @aarshghotra475
      @aarshghotra475 8 месяцев назад +4

      Damn! That's tough to know as someone who's been amidst job search since the past 4 months, how do you really come to a conclusion of who the right candidate is? I feel I am giving my best for all the jobs I am applying but haven't made it through until now..

    • @chevyjazz
      @chevyjazz 8 месяцев назад +8

      @@aarshghotra475 the problem is people think technical skills are everything. It's not. Technical skills can evolve and things can be learned but if you have a terrible personality and aren't trainable or coachable, you have a lesser chance of making it through a team match.

      @aarshghotra475 8 месяцев назад +4

      @@chevyjazz absolutely makes sense! I wouldn't either want to work with a person of that demeanor either. But to come to the point, my applications aren't even passing the first resume screening part, how would one judge about the candidate just based on the resume? Candidate needs to be given a chance to prove themselves right..

    • @chevyjazz
      @chevyjazz 8 месяцев назад

      @@aarshghotra475 from my experience, most people don't know how to write a proper resume. Most people get rejected because they send in resumes that aren't good enough compared to someone else's.

      @@chevyjazz for the majority of employers, technical skills and experience is everything.
      I carry many many years of highly praised customer service with tons of positive feedback. I have the willingness to learn, I’m patient and have always been a team player. Every rejection I got was due to “lack of experience”. None of these company managers are going to turn down a highly skilled candidate if he lacks a little in the social department unless the role is full-blown customer service.

    I am a tech engineer and tbh in my opinion those hiring processes are ridiculously long. If I ever were to become a recruiter, a signle technical test and a semi professional/casual hour talk would be more than enough for me to make my decision on wether hiring this candidate or not. This Co A better be worth what seems like an excessive amount of your time. If I were hiring, the creative way you cheered on friends in the marathon would have impressed me more than any other aspect of your preparation process. Gonna repeat previous advice: who you know and who they know matters more than what you know. Keep reaching out and asking for referrals. Its math: exponential. Ask the referral people for referrals. People hate saying "no". They much prefer saying "yes, here's some contacts who might be able to help. "
