Welcome to the new job searching series! Tech recruiting is long and can be a really physical and emotional ride. I hope that through documenting both the highs and lows of my journey, I can accompany and give encouragement to those of you in a similar situation.

what helped me get my current job in banking is reaching out to the recruiter that is on the linkedin listing directly and send them a message introducing myself, telling them i applied for the role, and that I would be interested in learning more about it. They replied within HOURS and we had a call the next day. Four interviews later I had the job!
This is a great tip!! Ofc it won’t always work but it’s abs worth a try

The last portion made me so teary. We are also three girls in the family (I am in the middle hehe) but we all live in different parts of the world now. Miss my sisters so much 🫶 and happy birthday to your dad and your sister! May they always be healthy and happy!

I agree with you, it is the most real thing there is, I can relate, I am in the same situation, so seeing this is motivating.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a full time content creator, we’re all here watching, aren’t we? 🙃
Of course that is fine! But lots of people (myself included) find that content created by people who are still working/filling other commitments a lot more interesting! Content creators can end up just creating content for contents sake whereas a channel like Julia's you get to see something such as "a day in the life working at ___"
It can keep things relatable too such as sharing morning routines that fit in before a work day!
@@DR-it9fmSure, but at the same time countless creators are busy creating videos on how difficult it has become to survive on content creation. Maybe their content is stale, but there is no doubt the trend that started during covid is fading.
Content creation is an actual job. It’s just working for yourself. It’s equivalent to a marketing role plus handling the administration/finance side.

I really appreciate this video!! I have been a software developer for the past 6ish years and have been wanting to transition to a more data driven role. I first found your channel talking about being a data scientist. I was trying to understand the niche differences between all the different data science related roles. I am pursuing my Master's in data science currently and I was straying away from being a data scientist because of the ML aspect. I am soooo thankful that you disclosed your job title because now I will search for those sort of roles because that is really where my interest lies. Wishing you the best in your journey to your next role!

Hi Julia. Im on the same boat as you. I left my tech job without another job lined up because it was too much for me. Something you said about doing so much work and not going anywhere really hit me. The best jobs I've had were offered to me by my friends suggesting me to their friends.
I will not be surprised if your next job comes to you that way. All of my kids got their happiest jobs exactly that way..people we knew recommending us to people they knew. I didnt even give a resume to anyone who asked me to join their firm! Its a "who you know" world.

I've been watching your videos for a while and I just want to say thank you for demystifying and talking about what it's like to be unemployed and going through these transitions. To be honest, I also am going through a similar career hurdle, I was laid off from tech at a company in NYC and am going through the job search and all the fun associated with it. I started a RUclips channel and it's a way for me to self care and vent to the ether and I'd like to make it related to my transition and going through this journey with tech in the Big Apple and finding a new job. I hope to one day be as great a content creator as you. My editing is non-existent and my equipment isn't the best but there's room for growth haha

Thanks for the resume writing tips. I used to just list things I did that came to mind, but it's helpful to hear your strategies to create a more impactful impression. I wonder what you would answer if the interviewer asks you "Why are you looking/why did you leave your previous job?". I always get stumped on that question.
For anyone in this unemployment time , feel ya . Get a solid routines, do the things you put off before, have a budget, try new hobbies etc. Its a journey that takes time.

another very valuable practice is referrals - if you have friends working in other companies that interest you - ask them if they would be willing to refer you! A lot of people in my company are hired through referral.

Although we had many arguments growing up, my sisters are now my closest friends ❤️ sister relationships may have their challenges, but they're ultimately rewarding in the end 😂

that's crazy. In Germany the job market in tech is extremly good. Especially for Data Analysts and Data Scientists it's so easy to find a good job here

Hey.. great video. Thank you for the super helpful tips for curating the resume. Do you like update your resume for every job you apply to? As in maybe not every job posting but like do you use the same resume for all applications? I was wondering about this as not every job listing will match more than maybe 40-50% of our work ex, and sometimes there may be some job that sounds exciting but we may not have the top skill needed as our primary skillset. Hope I could voice my thoughts into a question 😢. Thank you again for the video. Great content!
