Hello Papastache.. , There are So many musicians who has bunch of knowledge but dont know how to make others understand.. But you & Marty makes so simple to understand complex things. Its makes us so easy to learn from you guys. Even my guitar playing has reached to next level watching your videos. You guys are doing a Good Job .. Making music fun to learn, so simple & easy to learn. Its AWESOME !! .. Thanks millions for all the efforts for the videos...
I know you probably won’t see this message but you’ve helped me get through some real bad times with your amazing lessons! A real feel good factor!! Thanks mate
i first saw you on Marty's channel and love him, but so stoked you have so many vids on your own channel. when u explain something youre clear and intelligent, its at the right pace for me, and your keeping it fun. luv u man!
Stache - you have really been a big help on my Hendrix style playing. I have a cover of "who knows" by the Band of Gypsys on my page - if you checked it out and commented on it I would probably crap my pants. Ideally you can point me in the direction of what to work on. If not, thanks either way, your lessons are very good and not confusing.
papastache102 are you fretting the seventh fret on both the A and D strings with your third finger when you are holding the F shape? that seems really difficult to me lol
Wow! Is this lesson packed with tons of useful info, or what. The scary part is that the fret board is actually starting to make sense. When is the lesson on how to retain and apply this stuff for those of us with ADHD. :)
papastache102 Hi Papa!!! really great and usefull vid!!! Any possibility to have a backing track to practice all this??????? Come ooooon..... ;) Thanks anyway! Cheers from Spain
Great lesson! The way you demonstrated how to work the different pentatonic shapes from both the E string down or the A string in major or minor down truly opened up a purple porthole to Electric Ladyland! YEEEAAAAAHHHHHH
Your Daddy learn your stuff, dude. One of McCready's biggest influences is Hendrix. What you're saying with your comment is that Hendrix sounds like Pearl Jam. Ledbetter is a blatant Hendrix ripoff.
Very good video, thank you. Opened my eyes. The good thing is the many variations and improvisation ideas. This is much better for me than an exercise note by note.
Thank you my fine sir for being the first one to properly explain wich pentatonic scale goes to what chord and how to mess around with it, ill watch some more of your videos in a few weeks when ive gotten a hang of this! Big thumbs up for this lesson!!
I'm just a beginner, I been working with Marty Swartz on dvd's about a year. I can play the bar cord that you are playing. and slide and hit the cords that you are showing. But I don't know if I'm ready for this.
Excellent the man! Love is knowledge of guitar.... finally. really Finally understand what I have been looking for. Over and over your vids do it every time. But i know you know. I just want you to know that I know you know I know! like sleep I can now really escape!! Brett Pa Pa.... what a word!
Awesome lesson man, thanks very much. I'm a piano player of 20 yrs and a guitar player of about 18 months. I was really scared to get my thumb involved because it looked like a lot of time and effort. This lesson got me playing some cool stuff immediately - now I can't stop doing it! There are a lot of great shredders, screamers and arpeggiators (?) on RUclips but I always thought the creativity and flair of a great guitarist comes out when they're bopping in and out between chords like this. Gentleman!
hey papastache. Have you made any on practicing time signiture like 12/8 4/4 3/4 ore 6/8 in rhythm. Something that we actually could use an understand. An thanks for the lessons you are making.
Papastache is the most amazing player/instructor out there, not just on you tube.....compared also to the paid subscription sites!!! Been there!!! Listen closely too 19:08-20:25.......Papastache is unbelievable!!!! Check out all his material. ….subscribe, contribute you won't regret it. I have been learning fr m Papa's RUclips lessons for over 2 years...I'm suffering from a wrist injury at the moment that has my guitar stuck on a hanger, but I'm still watching Papas videos..... Amazing man....keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing with the world!
great job man, I think the style actually originated with Curtis Mayfield...of whom Hendrix was an admirer..Hendrix built on that thing. Nice job explaining the style.
Obviously, if you want to get heavy with this style.....you should go back & check out where Hendrix himself got that style from. He was a lover of the Soul/Gospel & R&B style of playing that people like Curtis Mayfield ,Bobby Womack,Pops Staples & Steve Cropper played. Hendrix was a master at this & surely put his own mark on it......but that is where this style originated. The same style that folks like John Frusciante & John Mayer copped from Hendrix.....Hendrix copped from these older cats. ;-)
True fact: Hendrix actually appropriated this rhythm guitar style from Curtis Mayfield. In the early to mid 60's it was this style that made Hendrix more employable for live gigs and session work. Hope this helps.
where can I learn about those key chord tones the route and 5th?.. I know the pentatonic scale but it just sound repetitive with nothing really behind it. like I know the positions but I don't know how to make them work.. any help?
fantastic lesson. As someone who's been playing for a couple of years and is trying to start doing more than just learning songs, this is just what i need. This and your hard rock rhythm lesson mean I can actually just jam by myself and have it sound interesting and like i can actually play rather than just boring basic chord progressions.that someone who just picked up the guitar could play. Thanks so much I will definitely be checking out your other lessons.
This style of play is exactly what I want to be doing - but it infuriates me that my hammer on finger mutes the previously strummed chord, meaning it sounds miserable and amateur when it should be harmonic and beautiful. Cant seem to play it with the rounded finger. Practice makes perfect or is there a tip out there that would help? IE. when i was learning barre chords and they sucked especially an F chord, I was told to squeeze my tricep to get the angle and strength which really helped. Any ideas? Great video by the way, I am going to explore the different chord shape fingerings tonight, the barre chord doesn't seem to be working - maybe the thumb over the F shape will be better.
One of my favorite guitar video and the most "knowledgest" about Jimi style PapastachePop tnx just one question can you right the chord progression that you use in the last part of the video?
8:37 I really can't bar the first 2 strings with my index! The e string became muted if i try to keep my thumb on the 6th string. Any good suggests? Thanks
I really can't manage the F-shape with the thumb stuff you're talking about from around 6:40, got any good tips? Otherwise, great video! I smashed that subscribe button.
P-Stache..you da man and so is your partner M.S. Both you guys are Legendary teachers in music on my P.C....Going down in history...Thanks for the LESSONS..

Thanks so much!

Oh man that’s awesome! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!

That's awesome! Thank you sir! Thanks for watching!
This is like the missing link between learning rhythm and converting to a lead player.
YES Brett is the missing link, fully.
No Jimi Hendrix was
InstaBlaster.
@@lifegoeson2183
I think that is the point he was making
I've been watching this video for months and I can finally say I am slowly getting there. Thank you!!

Now that's the stray tone that made me get my first strat along with a ts9 tube screemer
Finally! A clear explanation. Thanks
Gosh that video is perfect. All the advices I needed to improve my guitare practice in 21 minutes....Thank you sooo much.
This is a revelation. Thanks, papastache!

papastache u the man killer video
Thanks!
Extra points for not jumping straight to using your thumb :) You videos are focused so well.
Haha! Thanks!
very nice!
very cool!
papastache102 are you fretting the seventh fret on both the A and D strings with your third finger when you are holding the F shape? that seems really difficult to me lol

nice stuff

Yellow Ledbetter
Haha!
Silly question but does anyone know what key backing track I could use for this is he playing in e major or A major?
E shape Major: 2:45
example: 3:20
example: 4:20
example: 7:21
example: 10:32
E shape Minor: 11:30
example: 12:05
example: 12:10
example: 12:20
example: 12:42
A shape Major: 14:00
A shape Minor: 16:55
example: 18:54
Progression example: 19:08
isnt 2:45 A major but E major shape?
I can only guess that the 40 down-arrows are from 40 people who wish their own Hendrix rhythm videos were as good as this one.
Haha! It's all good there will always be another train through town for them. Thanks for watching!
Nick Williamson or they're from Pearl Jam fans. Haha!
@@BrettPapa this comment is how EVERYONE should live their lives and the world be 👌
no they are haters of youchoob in general. now 29 have their own channels
thanks!
Love your videos man!
hey papa you have any vid covering all the Pentatonic scale position you refer to in this videos?
papastache102
Hi Papa!!! really great and usefull vid!!! Any possibility to have a backing track to practice all this??????? Come ooooon..... ;)
Thanks anyway! Cheers from Spain
juan frances got a DVD set coming out and I will post some of the jam tracks that are drums, bass, and keys.
PapastachePop Thanks man!!! I really enjoy your vids and -I guess- I am learning quite a lot! Keep going! And once more....thanks!
OMG, you just unveiled what's been staring me in the face all these years. It's all major pentatonic. Thanks Papastache. Now, off to the woodshed!
Exactly hat i thought, After 10 years playing
The best lesson I've seen so far on this Jimi style rhythm/lead. Great Great job!!!!!!!
This upload may be a few years old, but it is still THE BEST slow-feel double stop Hendrix tutorial out there. How about a part 2 (and 3 and….)
Haha! Yeah I'm working up some more Hendrix stuff now. Thanks for tuning in!
Great.
In this “Lockdown” situation we all need a bit of inspiration...
Keep safe Papastache102.
Nice tricks. Thanks
The examples in the end: Totally yellow ledbetter, hehehe
PLS do Hendrix version of "Like A Rolling Stone"
Great lesson! The way you demonstrated how to work the different pentatonic shapes from both the E string down or the A string in major or minor down truly opened up a purple porthole to Electric Ladyland! YEEEAAAAAHHHHHH
Lenny, wind cries Mary and Gravity all use these licks if you guys want to hear them in action
John loves him some hendrix & SRV. If he would use a SRV strat it would be a small reëncarnation of SRV
Lenny is one of my favorites!
Duuude. This just revolutionised my playing.
Sounds more like Pearl Jam....
Your Daddy learn your stuff, dude. One of McCready's biggest influences is Hendrix. What you're saying with your comment is that Hendrix sounds like Pearl Jam. Ledbetter is a blatant Hendrix ripoff.
I know I was joking. I must have been tired because that wasn't a very good joke. Big fan of Hendrix, know how to play Yellow Ledbetter.
Very good video, thank you. Opened my eyes. The good thing is the many variations and improvisation ideas. This is much better for me than an exercise note by note.
Thanks for checking it out!
Intro Kinda reminds me of yellow Ledbetter, keep rocking papastache!

now tell me how Hendrix (who died in 1970) , could have listened to Curtis Mayfield, since his debut album is of the same year?
Curtis Mayfield played with the impressions since 1957 wikiboy...
you just opend my fucking eyes! The guys in my little band where just freakin amazed! Thank you sooooo much! I can write so many songs now!
True fact: Hendrix actually appropriated this rhythm guitar style from Curtis Mayfield. In the early to mid 60's it was this style that made Hendrix more employable for live gigs and session work. Hope this helps.
not really. we're guitar players, not historians.
Hendrix ‘appropriated’ nothing. He had many influences, which he didn’t hide, but created his own style. His playing is distinct. Anyone can hear that
Vincent Mileto ‘influenced’ and ‘appropriated’ are very different concepts
Helps with what, exactly?
Incredible
Thanks!
Great stuff - lessons for guitarists wanting to freshen up a bit from a great player who doesn't assume we're all numpties! Cheers...
where can I learn about those key chord tones the route and 5th?..
I know the pentatonic scale but it just sound repetitive with nothing really behind it. like I know the positions but I don't know how to make them work.. any help?
so that's where the inspiration for Yellow Ledbetter came from!
Pretty much! Hendrix was the man! Thrower is very good at this style too!
you just opened a brand new door ol bean! thank you, i will pass it on 😊
Sweet!
19:10-20:30 was so beautiful
Papaaaa. I come back to this all the time. It's my weakest asset on guitar. I use my thumb.
This has helped me so much Papa thanks. Can't do the thumb thing though. Keep at it I guess
This is beyond helpful, bro. Thank you for taking the time to explain things in great detail.

Check out Pink Floyd Pompeii , song called "one of these days" .... its Papastache playing drums! back in the day...hehe
Y all be movin and Grovin....good job recklesscola
Yeah, Garcia did lots of that "figuring" all through the Grateful Dead repertoire, like you're demonstrating. Really cool!
One of my favorite guitar video and the most "knowledgest" about Jimi style PapastachePop tnx just one question can you right the chord progression that you use in the last part of the video?

My head is spinning. Lol. I may be a bit novice for this. What is a good way to practice this by myself? Backing tracks?
This lesson is fantastic, Papastache. Here's another compliment: your face kinda reminds me of Christian Bale.
Not on this one but other videos have the request a song link. I clicked and signed up but how do I request a song? I want to learn Try by John Mayer
The riffs all played together 'wow' amazen sound!
Greetings from over the pond! Fantastic & very useful little video, thanks man.
Your index finger knuckle wrinkles look like a wee guys smiling face! Awesome lesson brother!
Nice. Always come back to Papa
Thanks!
thank you for keeping in standard tuning for the lessons. I hate it when people don't...
How come at 11:30 you’re talking about an e minor chord shape but it looks to be major? Am I missing something
Excellent lesson Brett, thanks so much 👍🏻
You are welcome!
Can you turn up your vocal in relation to the music?
your rock man can do a lesson for this great song olive and arow please man ??
thats absolutely it, i think if can put all those shapes and chords together, i will quit playing!
if I play the chords in key A do I have to stick to the A major pentatonic or can I use those positions even if the don't fit in with the scale?
nicely described. plenty of time taken to explain the method. Very good demo thank you
I like how you added Kenny Wayne in the beginning. Great videos thanks!
Thank's you made it. It,s exactly what a guitar should sound like. Now i know what's to do for the next months. Great lesson👍👍👍
Thanks for watching the vid!
I really can't manage the F-shape with the thumb stuff you're talking about from around 6:40, got any good tips?
Otherwise, great video! I smashed that subscribe button.
Probably neck dive try not having to lift your guitar up, this makes it easier
Cool video man, do u offer Skype lessons or anything like that?
papastache...the COOOOOOOLEST dude around..love the lessons man..just brilliant..learnt loads of tips from you..cheers dude. peace
