Nobody should play for Nevada ever again.
I never thought I would ever agree with Finebaum! I agree with Paul Finebaum!
So now you can’t even lie to kids about giving them money to go to your school anymore? What is the world coming to? 😂😂😂😂
Crazy how different the coverage is comparing First Take to CBS Sports Cover 3 Podcast. Stephen A. just pointed to his passing yards not putting his completion percentage in context. Furthermore, Finebaum's "most people dont care about UNLV" when they are in playoff contention
Was it in writing and overseen by a lawyer/agent?
Respectfully I'm not doing a verbal or handshake agreement over money let alone 100K
Greed destroys everything. Many coaches are the highest paid employees in every state. Ads, coaches all made out like bandits. Now that the players are getting paid, all bets are off. This will be worse than MLB.
Things do not add up still with this.
This was bound to happen sooner or later but I knew it they’ll later make adjustments to these NIL deals
As a coach would you guys recruit him to the team after this ? I never heard of him before today
Imagine what you have to do to break "Financial Demand" laws in the State of Nevada?
Also, 0:52 - Chill TF out, dude.
UNLV has already made much more than 100k off of the three wins this guy delivered.
This guy delivered? Have you watched a single UNLV game? The dude has struggled to break 100 yards throwing per game, and that includes a game we won 72-14. In the Kansas game, sure he had 1 nice drive. But 3x in the qst half alone he failed in the redzone. Defense is what has caused UNLV to be 3-0. The offense has been, well, not great
@@TheSchoolofTrading sounds like you are biased. No I didn’t watch the games bc no one watches UNLV. I did look up some stats and he is the rushing leader on the team as well with almost 300 yards rushing. Bt the rushing and passing he has accounted for 7 tds. That’s half the tds UNLV has had this year. When is the last time UNLV even won their first three games? And by looking at the record history, other than last year it seems UNLV barely averaged 3 wins a year for the last ten years. Like it or not this guy was the quarterback for those games and 300 yards rushing is extremely impressive.
Why was there no written agreement? He heard this from some assistant and just took it and ran with it???? Man that’s on him
Not sure why but Paul reminds me of Joy Behar from The View sometimes.
What happened to Education ? "Scholar -Athletes ? It's a sick sham !
Power 5 schools like in the SEC are already getting ready to set a salary cap for it's college football programs. It's coming, whether NCAA purists like it or not. And when you add in merchandising, ticket sales, and even sponsorships with sports gambling that the "non-profit" NCAA organization is cashing in, you get an idea how much loyalty costs.
Pay up - it’s that simple what if they tried this mess with anyone other than the kids
Why wouldn’t you get a commitment of pay in writing?
This is why you get everything in writing, friends. So that, if someone tries to screw you, you can hit them with the "Ah, ah, AH! Not so fast!"
Verbal agreements over $ 1,000.00 are void everywhere.
Not sure why the NCAA is catching strays over this. This is specifically on the school, their NIL fund and poor communication.
Why is NOBODY blaming the agent?? Why did he let Sluka even go to UNLV over a verbal agreement? You are the agent. There is no deal if nothing is on paper. It's $100,000. You can't just trust somebody over that amount of money. Paul bringing up the NCAA...this is a UNLV issue and they are bringing the NCAA into it. They could've just paid the guy the money.
Major college sports will eventually implode.
Absolutely 💯, spread the love,,free market RIGHT,,IF saban can have lake/ocean properties with 🚢 and car dealership, sure the players need to be paid 2,love the NIL(FREE MARKET)
@@tabasco-jf7eb the players don’t take accountability when they play bad. They think it’s a big joke. They are not professional and they don’t trained and prepare like a professional.
You always get it in writing because nobody's going to just hand you a duffel bag full of cash.
What a teammate
That's messed up. Renigging on a deal can get you shot in the streets.
Why did he show up, before he got the check? Buyer beware!
UNLV just set their program back for 10 years doing this. It’s going to be very hard to convinced players to come there during recruiting.
They are screwed big time, and they better change their administration ,,,you are right ✅️
Yeah, money has wrecked college ball. It used to be all about the players and now it's evident that things have gone south.
Who got to take him? No SEC is going to want him on their team. I would not pay any of them. Most college have budget cuts.
$100K is a STEAL for a talented QB! Possibly the worst PR move of all time
The whole situation is ridiculous, this is not what college athletics should be
words are great, written contracts are better
People keeps watching, money keeps coming in. Why would NCAA change. Change only happen in situations like this when money is affected.
