Pay for Play is DIFFERENT from NIL..all NIL is Pay for Play but not all Pay for Play is NIL..no contract, no guarantees. Blame the federal judges who ruled again and again against the NCAA and in effect for unregulated free agency for amateur athletes. I don't blame the NCAA for refusing to get involved in this mess. Lawsuits are expensive..losing them is worse.
The schools should pay thru there scholarships. Money will be paid 3 times during school that way it pays 4 the school books ect. Paying your schooling books makes IRS A little unhappy why they don't want write offs OK doing it that way keeps everything in order🎉
Shakedown on his part or reneging on their part. This is a prime example of the law of unintended consequences. When I listen to this stuff I’m thinking is this college boy football or the NFL. NCAA athletics has been turned into a for profit venture…and all that means including deals, agents etc. I watch it now full knowing what I’m watching which is just another form of professional athletics , much like the old Soviet system of “ amateur “ athletics. Enjoy it. Just know you are not watching college football in the traditional and true sense. Younger generations have no problem with this. It’s us older guys that have to adjust.
This is the law of something new so it’s gonna be messy until things get sorted out. The NCAA (or its members) can’t unilaterally set and enforce a salary cap. That’s price fixing. It has to be collectively bargained or it’s not legal. Don’t feel sorry for the NCAA or its members. They all made a lot of money off of amateurism. Nobody is saying the offer wasn’t made. All UNLV is saying the coach wasn’t authorized to make the offer and it wasn’t a written contract. Stop spreading lies. Matthew Sluka is within his rights to stop working when he isn’t being paid.
The whole NIL thing needs to go away. These kids used to receive a very expensive free education and all expenses which added up to a lot. Now, It’s just paying professional players who dont really attend classes to represent your college. Yes, the colleges make a lot of money on this but it’s basically outsourcing random people to represent your school. Nobody has ever spoken of admission standards anymore because these high end kids don’t even attend classes. They are not student athletes but professional athletes in the minor leagues.
This guy is so knowledgeable
Good luck to that university.
