My first car was a '56 Willys CJ-5. I bought from an elderly gentleman who was a caretaker of a small cemetery. It barely hit the open road, spending it's life with a small utility trailer in tow. Forward a few years after I got back from the Army, I purchased a '74 CJ-5. 323 six cylinder. Severely underpowered. The next year, I bought a '73 CJ-5 w/304 V8. That's more like it.
Just found your channel. Love it! I have rescued five of these American Icons since 1961, when I found a repossessed 1946 CJ2A sitting behind the Citizens' Bank in Aztec, NM. I was 15. It was my first car. And as you said in your opening, I hugely regret ever selling it. But I just had to have that 1955 Chevrolet Belair, Two-Door Hardtop in pristine condition... My second Jeep was a 1965 CJ5. So I'm really liking this project. But before you do anything else, SNAG THAT TRAILER! It could be worth more than the CJ5!
I just found your channel, I love the CJ you are saving from destruction!!!! I was born in 62 so it caught my eye when I was strolling for videos. I've watched all of the jeep videos, now I need more so keep up with the 62 and get some original wheels and tires on that that bad boy!!!!! I love the rust and simplicity of it.
Glad to hear your enjoying the build. She’s a super cool rig and only going to get better. Working on the next installment now. Cheers thanks for the support.
My son and I just started working on his 62 today. Thought I should do some research. Thank you for putting this video up. We have so much work to do.haha
Hey Jonás Love to see old vehicles brought back to life. Whether it is a Jeep or a Land cruiser. Great episode. Looking forward to seeing you clean it up and get it drivable.
I also got a “if you get it out of the woods, you can have it” CJ. Mine is a 56, same color, but the motor is stuck and the stuff that I blew out of the cylinders looked worse than your transmission, but I’m scheming a motor swap anyway. Subscribed, I’m interested to compare notes.
Special thanks to you and all involved in the resurrection and successful extraction of this Jeep . No doubt , you’ve got to do whatever you can to keep this Jeep alive . It fired up with a decent amount of work and is absolutely a runner . It deserves to live . As rough as it appears , would like to see how intact it’s chassis and body is . The side panel on the drivers side has a glacier of a crack which needs welding but wondering how is the floors . We got a bit of a glimpse and the bed looked like it’s still there ? Front floor too ? You guys got my attention with this Jeep , please make us proud . Hope you can flush out the transmission but water sitting in it is a heart breaker . Still got my faith in it . It deserves to live . Wishing you the best with it .
My very first vehicle was a 1966 CJ5 with the 225 V6. That thing was fun and good off road but was neither reliable nor rugged. And, quite frankly, the biggest piece of junk I've ever owned. So glad I don't own that thing anymore. The steering, brakes and clutch mechanism were the same as the Willys MB military jeeps. You would think they would have upgraded after all those years that but nope! same old junk. I broke axle shafts, motor mounts, tranny and transfer box mounts, clutch rods all the time, cracked the frame in many places, always behind the front shackle mounts it's been so long I can't remember all the things that went wrong with that machine. Only thing that ever left me stranded. However, with that being said, they are kinda cool machines. And then, I discovered Toyotas and never looked back.

Was very cool to watch! I have a 1958 CJ5 that I gotta revive as well.
I think the little garden you have makes this an eco-friendly CJ5. Awesome project!
hi there , well done , there is a 53 sitting in my barn , been there around 25 years now , best to all john

You should see about snagging that Bantam trailer that was next to it if they're going to scrap all that stuff. It's a fairly collectable unit itself.
Haha that’s not going to scrap. The owner knows what it is
Would enjoy seeing the videos of your next efforts getting this jeep roadworthy
There are already a few more parts released

At the beginning I took one look at that pile and thought not a chance. But you did it. So cool. YES! Absolutely want to see more videos on the Jeep.

Sweet CJ5! Can't wait to see it back on the road.
Same! She’s got a lot of life left!
That thing is super sweet! While I love the LCs I can definitely appreciate these old Jeeps. Can't wait to see you get her running like a top.
Same! I love LCs but this jeep was to cool to let it rot away. Plus always enjoy learning about new platforms. never a bad thing
Such a cool jeep. I think you should nick-name it "bacon". Love the revivals!!
oh gawd, the dreaded distributor!!!!!!!! Like a pro my friend- so cool
Haha done. It’s super crispy like bacon that’s forsure.
Another one saved, ready for New Adventures.
Great first step. Congrats bro.
Love it, I used to have a 58 that was tons of fun. Should have never sold it!

I’m going to do whatever it takes to get it to a good runner and driver.
Dude this video is awesome. This should have more views.
Appreciate that. Share it! Check out pt2 as well as pt3 dropping this week
@@mizeadventure9438 Check out my vids too. Just revived a 66 Tburd
Totally I check it out
Yeah I would like to see more of the Jeep
More to come promise
I would leave the Jeep the way it looks now. Just clean up the interior and get the engine all proper and such.
Yes, more on the Jeep please! Are there any common roots between the 45 series Land Cruiser and the CJ5?
Planning to have a few more EPs on it. stay tuned. Actually yes. alot of the LC cruiser roots come from Jeep (Willys) originally.
I have a ’61 CJ5 that I need to get running.
My buddy had a 48 willys on hiway tires and we couldn't get it stuck if we tried.(and we did) and it had the original flat head 4.
I’m a 100% Toyota guy but these are cool to see as well. Nice video!
Ha im a Toyota guy to! but its always great to learn about other platforms. this jeep is pretty cool tho.
Fun!
cade o resto dos videos

Did you get the utility trailer too?
Did you get the trailer? If not, I need it.

yeah heard tho V6s aren't at reliable as the f-head 4s. but im new to the whole platform so I cant really give a real truth on it.
Id like to have that trailer
Better grab that Bantam trailer while you’re at it! Worth more than the Jeep.
Haha that’s what I’ve heard. The owner saved it from the junkyard years ago. I don’t think he’s selling it. Part of his collection
Man that is a classic why don't you go ahead and restore it
Great save. Looks pretty good overall
Part 2 please.
There are like 5 parts already
@@mizeadventure9438 perfect!
you can see my 1960 CJ5 on --I never had the money , youtube // fitting rust
