My first car was a '56 Willys CJ-5. I bought from an elderly gentleman who was a caretaker of a small cemetery. It barely hit the open road, spending it's life with a small utility trailer in tow. Forward a few years after I got back from the Army, I purchased a '74 CJ-5. 323 six cylinder. Severely underpowered. The next year, I bought a '73 CJ-5 w/304 V8. That's more like it.

How bad is the frame? If its anywhere near decent, you should just do a ptachwork repair on the body. Like just cut and weld, dont bother with bodylines or anything, just give it that mad max look.

Get the Land Cruiser back to its off road glory. full suspension kit and lifts, clean it up maybe a new paint job and chrome.

I want you to get it running. Then, put your foot on the gas and rev the engine to about 6000 RPM to see if the engine can take, like most of the other country bumpkins on RUclips. If it does blow up at 6000 RPM, you can just say, "Look, I told yall the engine was bad" !!!
