There is a jeep around here where our house is hidden among the many ownerless unknown cars around here, we dont live in a junkyard but it feels like we are in one seeing all the cars around the roadside sitting, getting dusted. I would also like to state jeeps are very expensive in here, a rusted out one would go for at least 6-10 K if you convert it directly.
These old Jeeps remind me of an old watch dog…a little worse for the wear and tear after all the years…but with a little help, they’re still willing to do the job..
Interesting video. Sure would be a good way to teach yourself metal work, that s for sure. I do this with older offroad motorcycles. I find bikes that people are tired of and go thru them. The good stuff/parts go one way. The bad and worn out stuff goes in the trash. Looks like it can be a lot of work but will be rewarding when those Jeeps come together.
Nice finds. I have a 43 gpw thats been in the family since early 60's. My dad paid $75 for it. Runs like a sewing machine and all the parts are surprisingly still available. What's your plan? Restore or resell?
1) That is one dead M38. Still has some usable parts, though. 2) Really? 3) Slightly modified. perhaps? 4) Take the Corvair home, mount it to a Jeep chassis. It gets worse from there. If you ever find yourself in Three Rivers, California, I'll sell you some far better relics and a pile of usable parts. 08:38 - _Now_ you've got something! Any GP is worth having. Has the Ford 9N engine, no less. 10:47 - The 'barn find' CJ2A is nice. 12:37 - Love how well it 'tracks' with no one steering. All that front wheel caster going to good use. 13:17 - 'Rough, but restorable', defined. What is up don't know if you will see this... Turns out I have one of your old jeeps in my shop, my friend just picked it up off of you last week ... I'm just starting to go through it so it can be enjoyed by him as he can't wait to play jeeps
Very cool, he told me about you. The Jeep needs a little TLC in the wiring department, and longer pushrod for the brakes. I went through all the wheel bearings, complete brake system, etc. If you figure out the overheating issue I'm very curious if it's just a thermostat or radiator. So close to the finish line but I was out of time to work on it.
@@TurnNBurn I will definitely keep you posted on all of it ... Also it probably isn't charging because the alternator isn't hooked up it's not a 1 wire ( he did say something about the back terminal being loose as well) it will be on my channel as well but I can just keep you updated on here or through messages... Anyway it's a really cool jeep and I'm pretty jazzed to get to work on it

That alternator is from a Fiero. You might be right, on my old engine setup I did have the other wire hooked up. I tried swapping the rad cap with one off my blue Jeep, and it didn't fix the issue.
There's still a company around that actually make the whole Jeep body if you put the undercarriage undercarrige these brand new jeep bodies and be easy the last I looked the they were going for $1,500 to $2,000 for the whole body

Here in the Philippines there is MD Juan Enterprises. They still stamp & manufacture parts for these old Jeeps. They ship worldwide
After passing a car a few years it will be considered an old car, but a Jeep will always be considered a legend.
Saw one of these things..in person.."still in the crate that it was shipped in"!!!.. fkn amazing!!..
I learned to drive in a '42 Willy's 45 years ago. My cousin has it now in Pennsylvania .
