My USMC dad (‘64-67) says those old jeeps can go anywhere and do anything. They are great. Wish Jeep still made these simple fundamental vehicles as a budget 4 wheel vehicle. Great competitor for modern ATVs because they are road legal

Being road-legal is why they can't make them anymore. Any modern road legal vehicle has to pass complicated EPA and carb standards.

Also, I usually leave a hot engine running so it can circulate the coolant and cool off better. If you shut it off, it will allow hotspots to happen and possibly crack the head of block. The old IH diesel tractors were famous for doing this if they were stalled while hot, they would crack a head faster than you could restart it.
