51 years ago I had a throwout bearing on my CJ3A. I was 16 years old. I fixed it. I love those Go Devil engine. Should of kept my Willys, really miss it.
My USMC dad (‘64-67) says those old jeeps can go anywhere and do anything. They are great. Wish Jeep still made these simple fundamental vehicles as a budget 4 wheel vehicle. Great competitor for modern ATVs because they are road legal

The engine oven is one of my fave parts of old cars hahaha. I used to put breakfast burritos in my engine compartment on the way to university. The cheese was perfectly melted when I arrived

I also love the late 60- early 70,s models broncos . I am a ford man with trucks every scout i seen for sale i bought even just for parts.I totaly rebuilt a 1962 5 years ago, i have a really nice 1968 scout that been keept in a heated garage for over 30 years. It needs motor work v8, i need to get busy im 63 years old im starting to think i may never get it done. 40 years ago i used to mushroom hunt those hills up there all around manistee national forest, im from Indiana.@@fastdadgarage-northsouthch4418
Great rides, thanks for taking is along. My daughter and I like to do the same but on tamer trails. My old Envoy is not quite as capable as you CJs. Huron Manistee Nat Forest has some beautiful trails.
I have 6 cj5s. On throw out bearings be carefull. Got one once that was bad right out of the box. Had to remove it the same week I put it in. They can be damaged during manufacture.

True, we only had high temps that first day running hard on pavement. The rest of the trip didn’t seem to have any problems. But worth looking for or fabricating one. Thanks
Also, I usually leave a hot engine running so it can circulate the coolant and cool off better. If you shut it off, it will allow hotspots to happen and possibly crack the head of block. The old IH diesel tractors were famous for doing this if they were stalled while hot, they would crack a head faster than you could restart it.

It runs great, just took it out yesterday. The Fire Department has been very slow lately but like you said heating season has started so things could change quickly.

@@tomford5416 the trees we crossed were not cut down, just rotten blow downs. Trail maintenance, some areas are good others not so much. On some old logging trails they on,y get used every 15-20 years. So they become grown over fairly quickly.
I appreciate your comment, our Jeeps did get ORV stickers last year and will be getting them again this year. There was some question of weather we needed them or not on that trip.

Being road-legal is why they can't make them anymore. Any modern road legal vehicle has to pass complicated EPA and carb standards.

I love theses Jeeps. I learned to drive in one at 13 (60 now) The ‘46 Willy’s is still in the family and has been fully restored. Nice job guys!

Yes a winch is eventually planned. Tires are crosswinds 225/75r16. So far love them we have 3 jeeps all with the same tires and size.

No never did, it must’ve been close. once we got off the main road and stopped running 55ish mph cooled off the rest of the trip

Running at 55 is not very good for a 46-47 2a with 5.38 gears. I keep mine around 45 . Yes slow but better for the old 4 cycles Just me .

As an advocate of the responsible ORV crowd would like to see you be legal and get your ORV registrations on those jeeps.
