    This is my style of desert off road camping. I go solo most of the time in my trusty Jeep XJ. Ice chest, extra fuel jug, sleep on the ground. Don’t need no fancy “overlander” rig hauling everything including the kitchen sink. I love your ol’ school style. 👍🏼

    Back in the early 70,s I had a 53 cj3b and would go all over the mountains on old logging roads in w. va. my home state.Now as an old man I have a 54 cj3b that looks like a new penny and only goes back and forth to town.But the feeling and the like for those jeeps has never went away.

    • @old6quart
      @old6quart  16 дней назад

      That is great. How many 3B’s were made? We have a 53 that has been modified pretty extensively. Our youngest son wants to have it someday. Would probably be smarter to just buy a finished one…….but what fun would that be.😆

    Stock is the way to go. All those stupid "enhancements" of lift kits, oversize tyres, and souped-up engines only detract. The original Jeep is an amazingly capable off-roader even in bone-stock condition. Drivers on this episode quite skilled and their vehicles very sensible and functional, just right for the job. Very well done!

      I agree with you, but personally I like a little wider wheel, nothing stupid, like maybe 8". Reason for that is because in one of the episodes. one of the jeeps smacked a rock with his hub...pretty hard. That could've ended his day right there. For the last 52 years my brother and I have always run wider wheels than the stock.
      This was an awesome series, would love to get involved with a great group of like minded folks.

      Amen- I have a stock M38A1, tall skinnys, no lift, 5.38 gears, and she's such a sweetheart. Named Katy, for Katy and the big snow.
      For my hand throttle I have a vernier throttle from a Cessna 185, infinite adjustability and stays where you put it, so if you need more or less, you just roll it on smoothly without shock loads on components due to your foot bouncing all over the throttle. 5 bucks from an airplane junkyard too! So really cheap!😃

      @@old6quart Thanks so much for the reply. I just got back from the Colorado fall color tour in Nathrop. There were 69 flat fenders and basically 3 different trails each day for 5 days. It was amazing! I don't yet own a flat fender, but i am working on it. I went by myself and just got up everyday and found someone to ride with. I am absolutely hooked. I live in Florida, and it's a long way to drive, but when I do get one, I want to go on every adventure that my family, job, and finances will allow. I'll look up the info, and thanks again for the response.
