    I was wondering about the idle myself, and personally I think I would put some more time in engine mounts and go for a lower idle. The high idle would drive me nuts quicker than a little more vibration. Still a great build and I wish I could do something very similar. Thanks for sharing this with us!

    As a former OTR driver pulling reefer, the sound of that engine lulled me to sleep many a time. Unless I was pulling a frozen load and then the engine would cycle off/on at higher rpms. People hated us reefer drivers at the rest areas and truck stops.

    Have you thought about using a thermostat that lets you run the engine between 180 and 195 degrees Fahrenheit?it would probably increase your mpg as this is the optimal temp for a diesel to run.

    I'm no youtube expert (and i hate them too). That being said, you do need to have your engine running at least 140 degrees for a prolonged period in order to burn off the moisture in the oil.
    Oil gets contaminated with combustion byproducts and turns into a mild acid. This will eat at internal components like valve springs, etc.

    First things first. Order a Dayco belt. Period. Anything else is a junk rubber band. I would try to get it in the design that is NOT a top cog, for this application. Once you determine the length, order two more. One to keep in the Jeep and another for stock in your shop. Remember, two is one, one is none. This applies in most cases in life.

    Do you have a video series of the build? Who builds the adapter kit?

      No I don't, but overland diesel builds the adapter kit. If you need help with the swap email me!

    HI , I m new to your channel, and I did subscribe, question is which kabota engine did you use, and where did you get the adater sytem for it , I have a 1964 Cj5 with the v6 buick motor, I have 3.73 gears with the T150, later model 3spd, do you think this would be a good swap for me , my jeep is 75% road driving with a bit of sand beach off roading, I have though about the VW TDI but I m on a tight budget, retired sort of thing ,,,

      I give those answers in the video. Also 3.73s would be great on this motor. I have 5.38s

    Usually the jeep bodies rust out and your looking for a body to put on a jeep frame...

      Nope, no one that has done the swap that I know of has done it either. It's been a great swap so far!

    I don't know what kind of motor mounts you used. But if they're solid mounts. You might consider good heavy rubberized motor mounts. That way under the lower idle speeds you might not have as much vibration. Just a thought

    • @BuyFixFlip
      @BuyFixFlip  Год назад

      Yeah I'm looking into hollow mounts now!

    • @Vincent-ly2ik
      @Vincent-ly2ik Год назад

      I was thinking the same also the vibration at idle is normal and the 750rpm is the correct setting personally I would have backed it off another thing too note is that a lot of the factory diesel CJ’s had four hood latches.

    I'm thinking shakey idle is air in fuel or bad overflow return valve. What transmission did you hook up with adapter?

      t90 Trans currently, will probably end up going t90. I got the adapter plate from Greg at overland diesel.
