    Love the concept of this vehicle but the real proof of this vehicle is is it reliable and will be long lasting. If so it will be a winner even at it’s cost.

    A very niche vehicle, and what Autocar failed to mention is that due to the poor payload it will be extremely difficult for businesses to claim the vat back! Thats a massive handicap price wise!
    You should be able to buy 2 ,or even 3 other pickups for the same price as one quartermaster....and those pickup will carry 250kg more than the inneos😢

    • @theseb1979
      @theseb1979 Месяц назад +4

      Payload does not even matter now since April. Dual cab == no vat back because the government has decided so. Clearly people buying pickups instead of vans was a huge problem that our amazing and not helpless government jumped right onto 🤦‍♀️

    My local dealer is already discounting the Grenadier by £9k, maybe the niche' was smaller than anticipated? I followed Ineos and the Grenadier project from day 1, all the union Jack's and Britishness was slowly replaced and the price went up and up before Sir Jim moved to Monaco to avoid tax.
    No doubt it's well engineered but I'd think it's lost a lot of UK buyers when production was started in France, chassis cab is interesting but I can't see the likes of Scottish power buying when the Toyotas they're presently using will be much cheaper and the Quartermaster has a lower payload than even the old Defender 130hcpu.

    Recirculating ball steering is renowned for durability. The Birdsville Track in Australia is renowned for destroying ‘rack and pinion’ steering systems. The relative lack of self-centring at low speeds is typical of actual light trucks in the 2-3 tonne class AND this vehicle is, primarily, a work vehicle that will be purchased for genuine on/off road work. I anticipate 5-15 year ownership by most company buyers, dependent upon amount and severity of use.
    A key criterion, for long term success of the Grenadier, will be :
    How long can this vehicle be left unused, without a connected trickle charger, before it needs a jump start🧐?

    The issue with these is that the radiator comes down below the front bumper so it fills with mud or grass seeds.
