I love the Bolero and can't understand why it isn't performed more often. There's lots to love in it! I also love Ingolf Wunder's performance here--it's clear that he loves the Bolero, and that love makes this a stirring and radiant performance!
Very nice interpretation, most versions I’ve heard I don’t like - this is a very unusual piece but does have some stunning moments in it - I think it does have to have a certain flow to it (as here, with a few exceptions) to give it that elegant 19th century aspect, like when Italianate style for houses was replacing Greek Revival and Jenny Lind was about to become the first important entertainment celebrity.
Bolero is an underrated piece, Bolero is a masterpiece 💗💗💗 see how Chopin started with a prélude of sorts then you can hear polonaise, waltz, mazurka and Balade air. Chopin was the greatest genius born in this world. Haaa, do you know what Chopin is saying?? He's p*ssed, he's angry, thinking to himself, he was a GOD ♥️❤️❤️ Chopin I mean. Bravooo Wunder, bravooooooo
@@Szyszyjan no it's not, Wunder is only playing Bolero, besides you didn't understand what I wrote, I said BOLÉRO has everything in it, polonaise, waltz, mazurka, balade
I'm thrilled he brought this work to the competition - probably the only time we'll ever hear the Bolero in such a high-profile context. Having said that....his touch and overall approach to the main A minor theme (1:53) is a bit heavy for my taste. I think a brisker tempo and lighter/more flirtatious attack is needed there.
You are allowed to play any Chopin composition in the second and third stage, the first sonata is just way too obscure, very few people ever pick it up to learn, let alone master.
@@lunar.6091 The trio in g minor is an extremely underrated piece, it's really sad because it's an absolutely magnificent piece... Maybe one day it will be unveiled in competitions and concerts...
The best thing about Wunder is that he's willing to play Chopin pieces that aren't as well-known or popular.

W mojej i nie tylko opinii to Ingolf Wunder powinien wygrać Konkurs Chopinowski w 2010r.
Prawda.

I’m sorry but how is not the most beautiful piece of piano music ever made - I’ve never encountered anything which even compares to its beauty.

polonaise rhytm

well that’s subjective. Personally, i like his strong and forceful touch very much
Yike (Tony) Yang also played this bolero at the chopin competition
pretty good
It's Chopin's "Spanish Polonaise".
I shall call this piece like this from now on
Amazing!!! Unrelated question are you allowed to play Sonata opus 4 for the Chopin competition? Because no one ever plays it.

Very polished technique. Every note sounded so clear. He is excellent, he even made the Bolero sound good.
Seriously? It's Chopin we're talking about!

Isn't it in A major?
Chopins polonaise op. Posth in g minor b.1 is mostly in b flat major but he wrote it as g minor

What?Bolero on C Major? Isn't it in a minor???......
It is always a matter of interpretation. But yes, it is set on our channel that we use "A minor".
Then why does it say C Major in the description? Bit confused?
Sorry, we didn't change the description, but title was correct. Everything is in order now.
